My aunt had a roommate that was a genius. Multiple degrees. Absolute mega brain on this woman, but she did really dumb stuff like put their toilet brush in the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this dishwasher to wash it. Sometimes smart people can have blind spots. I’m not genius or anything but I’m pretty quick, in my biased opinion. Still, I was around 33 years old when I finally made the connection between pickles coming from cucumbers. Somehow I’d gone that many years without making that connection, but I design buildings for a living People can be smart about different things. People do min/max to some extent. No one knows everything, and the people who go for breadth usually don’t have much depth. Well my ex partner was an honours student and went into the medical field but in the mundane day to day life she was helpless and kind of … dumb.
Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt: best style for you
Being good in school, particularly in levels lower than college. It’s most all about the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this ability to memorize content and recite it on command. What we often call “street smarts” is simply not taught at all. The ability to take in observable information, and make judgements on situations or people is just not present. Yet all good students know what year Columbus landed. Human brains are complex. Different people are really good at different things. But school kind of only rewards a single kind of person. Someone who can sit still, write in a notebook, pay attention and recite what the teacher teaches. Have you ever had the experience of a teacher writing a test question that takes 2 areas of knowledge that were taught separately and mashes them together? There’s a certain kind of “smart” kid who just fails to grasp that the concepts are related at all or that the knowledge from one page of the book can be applied to another page. They say things like “this was never covered in class” and “this was not in the book”
In my first year university physics class the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this prof had us do an exercise. Go outside the building and guess at the number of windows. For every 1 window away from the real answer you got a 30 second penalty. We all ran outside and started counting. 1 person ran outside, looked at the building and ran back inside. He didn’t count, he just looked and guessed. He was off by 5, but was 2 minutes ahead of the next fastest person (who was only off by 1), and it took another minute for the 3rd person (who had the correct number) to come in. The 2 wrong people tied for first, the correct person got third (or second, depending on how you count a tie). But the point is, speed and accuracy are linked. Sometimes it’s better to be fast, sometimes it’s better to be right but most of life sits somewhere in the middle.
About Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt
I think I am reasonably smart and wise, but I need to ponder things and aren’t great at snap decisions. I too grew up in a rural area, maybe it’s just the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this slower pace of life doesn’t teach you to think quickly. Sometimes the difference between good and bad school results is whether or not you do your homework. A smart person who doesn’t do HW can fail everything, a less smart person who does it can get all As and Bs. Many people confuse speed with intelligence! They aren’t the same… yes.. you can be more productive and seem more with it, but I have many family members who are crazy smart and take their time. This is very much a product of “colonialism” — this idea that speed = efficiency = intelligence. In my honest opinion, being a “fast thinker” is not necessarily a sign of intelligence- quite often the most intelligent people I know are the ones who slowly absorb information and prioritize taking the time to digest it rather than those who immediately “get it” and categorize the knowledge neatly away in their memory filed under whatever “first impression” they had. Quite often the latter group can misunderstand and not actually get it at all or will understand the theory but not how it applies or vice versa.
Getting things done as quickly as possible is very much a product of industrialism that has been reinforced by capitalism, but I would argue that most of the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this greatest thinkers in human history tend to think slowly, and take the time to become acquainted with all the small details and nuances relating to any given subject, rather than being the type to quickly do things or accept an idea as fact based on surface knowledge. Thinkers are better at thinking (and not necessarily quicky) and Doers are better at doing, often quickly (and sometimes without thinking) Both are important elements of our society, but I would argue a lot of modern societies tend to place more emphasis on the doers, thus this conception we have that productivity = intelligence. There are many ways that people learn, retain and use information and apply experience. My wife is very smart, has a PHD, does technical writing and a slew of other advanced skills that are in demand within several fields.
She’s more intuitive and I’m more systematic. I have an easier time with things like Ikea instructions and planning a multi stage home improvement project, whereas she can leapfrog ideas and eventually land somewhere that makes sense. I’m also better at some practical skills like driving. Being good in school is often just knowing how to navigate the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this system. It also doesn’t often teach practical application or real world use. Working a job will teach you within two weeks more than you would learn in two months of related classroom work. So learning is school is a good start, but hands on is always different. All and I mean All of the highly intelligent people I know are not handy with anything that requires hand and brain coordination! They never needed to learn! I mean, realistically, she’s probably depressed, which makes sufferers slow even in remission. On the upside (for you), that probably lowered her self esteem enough to marry your dumb ass.
I know a guy that was an absolute genius in highschool. He aced every test given without studying and sleeping through class. Yet he only became a server at a restaurant. It’s not a bad thing but he couldn’t figure out socializing and all that. Another guy was just barely getting by in school and now he is running his own business and working on opening his 5th location. I was very brilliant growing up, however, I was diagnosed with epilepsy around 11. As I grew older I had more seizures. It’s likely I had some concussions, while I’m not saying this makes me dumb, it certainly has screwed up my brain a bit. And that’s OK! Life is full of challenges. School/academics are a skill. It is not always an indication of competency in anything aside from it. Some of the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this smartest and most capable people I know were not good at school and some of the academics I know have the worst executive function I have ever seen. I scored in the 99th pecentile on rhe verbal portion of the SAT. I scored functionally retarded in Math. Nowadays when some one refers to me as smart, I say “just don’t ask me the answer to 2+2.” I was in both for a year they didn’t know what my issue was. Ended up finishing highschool magnet/honors though. Just about every “brilliant” person is like this. It’s pretty much reverse ADD. they focus in so much on their field of study that, and get catered to their whole lives by parents, then schools, then employers, that they don’t know where to start handling any real world practical things.
Some people are only good at a certain type of task or thinking. My ex husband was this way. Great programmer, and engineer. Legit could not figure out how to open of close a packet of diaper wipes one time…..just ripped it open and left it to dry out because he “didn’t know what to do”. He had changed diapers before! Apparently I was the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this only one opening wipes though. I don’t know about NY state public school standards, but I moved to New Jersey from Alabama right before the start of my junior year in highschool after my Dad got transferred with his company to their office in Morristown, NJ from Birmingham, AL. I was an okay student in Alabama but struggled mightily in New Jersey. The public school standards in NJ schools were just so much higher. The curriculum, the expectations, even the grading scale was higher. In Alabama, the grading scale was done in 10 pt increments between each letter grade. In New Jersey, schools used a 7 pt scale difference between letter grades which makes a world of difference coming from a school system that doesn’t prepare you for it.
For example, an A was 90-100 in Alabama schools whereas in New Jersey to make an A you had to score 93 or better -which, when you scale it out that way, has the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this lowest passing grade score of 69, which is the top of a letter grade “D” in Alabama schools (60-69). So ya, I had to work my tail off my junior and senior years just to catch up, keep my head above water, and my GPA somewhat decent going into college. I would find it hard to believe that New York schools are that much different from New Jersey schools given the proximity to Ivy League colleges and universities in that part of the NE but maybe hers was an exception. Everyone has different strengths & weaknesses. Kind of dislike that phrasing because of the connotations they have, but there are skills she could probably use some working on, if even necessary. There could be things she wasn’t expected to handle growing up. It can also be other things like being burnt out. Not sure how long you’ve been together or anything like that, but there’s usually different factors involved in that, like which daily tasks are you talking about? And when you say slow, she takes her time or you’re, in other words, claiming she’s aloof &/or incompetent? Sounds like she takes time to complete her tasks, which is not the same as street smart vs book smart, as some people are saying. She may also not be accustomed to performing some tasks — for example, my dad always handled cleaning & organizing. He was extremely peculiar about things, obsessive-like, & very neat. He was very hands-on & has good spatial perception.
He had a stroke & now is disabled. My mom handles part of what he used to, me the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this other part. She takes longer to complete some tasks because of her level of organizational thinking, level of spatial awareness, mixed with overwhelm, anxiety, & resistance. She abhors cleaning. For example, give my parents the same space to clean. My dad pre-stroke would say, “throw out garbage first. Then handle, boxes or big things, etc. Leave sentimental items (if even necessary) & letters, papers, magazines, last if it’s that they need to be sorted through or shredded.” He got things fairly quickly & with breaks. My mom will move some stuff around, then suddenly stop because she’s overwhelmed or tired, & then immediately start going through mail & booklets, ripping out names, then when she’s done she’ll shred it. Then she’ll look at everything & be upset because there’s so much to do.
My dad had to caretake for his younger siblings when they came to the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this US. His homes back in his mother country were cared for by live-in maids (apparently it was popular in his country). He was close to them though, & learned from them. He kind of always kept that level of neatness when he came here, especially because the grime of NYC disgusted him as a teen in the 80s, & that sensation was overwhelmed by the lack of help from his siblings. Anyway, my mom was the youngest of two. She did have to help around the house, but my grandma always felt like no one can clean or do better than her, & her brother was given preference where it was seen that domestic things were gendered. My mom resisted that idea, lol. Anyway, she wasn’t taught much, more expected to pitch in or do. She learned what she saw. Fast-forward to now, she’ll get the task done, but perhaps double the hours my dad would’ve taken, if not spread out in 2 days. I also know she’s older now, is burnt out from working & being a caregiver, added on top of her never liking to clean but will do it because she needs to. So there are origins, influences, & the present.
Things like this also depend on what you’re into. I like puzzles & problem-solving, like my dad. I also spent time with both of them. He always challenged me to think of how to fit things or explain to me why he did things a certain way when I was small. He’s also creative, but with a more realistic approach. My mom is also creative, but more in the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this arts & has a knack for fashion. A day-dreamer. I’m also like that, too. They see the world differently, naturally. And they both experienced life differently, & I won’t knock her because she’s always learning, even if inside I’m thinking how much differently I would’ve done something & completed it faster. We’re all always learning, & long as there’s no urgency, it’s okay for us to be different. She’s doing the best she can.
There is more beyond going to great schools. I went to McNair Academic in your state. Even then, I knew smart schools weren’t everything. There is so, so much more than that. The schools I went to were very competitive, & though I’m calm, certain things trigger that in me. But a race to be done first doesn’t always produce quality. It’s important to ponder what’s really of value. I don’t know the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this answer but I will say it seems like school performance has very little to do with your ability to handle adult life. I know several people who were really fucking good at high school and are basically bums now, barely scraping by. And then I know several people, including myself, who barely passed school due to laziness, got their act together at some point, and are now successful.
One thing I remember from psych is how hard it is to come up with intelligence tests. It always comes down to decisions made by the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this researchers of what to include and what not to. Everyone is good at different things, and I’ve noticed myself for example tend to do very well with public speaking, and writing, and some other things. Put something mechanical in front of me, something with a lot of parts, brain doesn’t do well with those Yep I see this too. Book smart but not really good at everyday stuff and always has something negative to say about everyone else. Lots of “honors“ students can be made through sheer willpower. The ability and desire to spend much more time on it to get it done. A person with an IQ of 80 can be an honors student if they just spend every living hour giving it a solid go and have a decent set of resources at their disposal.
I work for a big corporation and I dont have a college degree but most of my colleagues do. After working in my industry for 20 years and training many people who are smarter than me on paper, a degree really doesnt mean much. I know from first hand experience. Schools rarely evaluate students on their speed. Especially not at doing daily tasks. If a teacher calls a student “fast” or “slow”, they mean how long it takes them to understand ideas that not everyone gets immediately. And, being methodical and thoughtful is generally valued by academics, above being very fast at doing simple things. If a student finishes a test early, they get no bonus points for it. Common advice for test taking tends to involve taking your time to think things through and give the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this best answers.
Some of the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this smartest people I’ve ever met are also some of the people who couldn’t be trusted to plan a trip to the grocery store. 374 more repliesI have a B.S. and have learning disabilities. My friends I went through with said I’m smart but also dumb as bricks. I have my degree because I worked really hard in spite of being a very slow learner. You can be slower learn slower or have area of weakness but still be able to work through it to excel in some areas I’ve been from Ivy leagues to community colleges and found idiots and geniuses at both. Not to mention that even schools across the street can have massively different grading scales, so an A at one school could be a B at another. But the real answer is that nothing can replace curiosity and passion, regardless of education or knowledge. Someone who wants to learn how this thing works will do so while the educated uncaring one won’t bother to learn.
My sister was #2 in her class in a very good school system. She can talk for hours about the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this global implications of food shortages in different countries. She also can barely navigate herself around a city and makes some of the dumbest judgement calls I’ve ever witnessed. Stupid things like putting frozen pizza in the oven with the plastic still on all the way too getting in cars with strangers because they promised her a free ride. I love her, but it’s a fucking miracle she hasn’t followed a free candy sign into a serial killers van yet. Book smart, common sense, grit and wisdom are 4 seperate attributes. You can have one in spades and be lacking in others. I’m pretty outstanding at problem solving, high level thinking, a bunch of stuff happening at once – I can pretty regularly do things other folks can’t. I have a 3 degrees, honors student, etc etc.
My, generally high school educated, blue collar friends think I’m the Brett Favre x Jordan Love Green Bay Packers signatures skyline Shirt Besides,I will do this stupidest person alive and 85% of the time they have no idea what I tried to say or am doing. Not because they’re stupid but because we approach problems and “what ifs” entirely differently. There was a trend for practical challenge shows in the UK for a while. Junkyard wars, scrapheap challenge etc. typically they would pit a practical hands on crew (bikers, farmers, etc.) against a more highbrow group (professors, naval architects etc.) There is no simple answer to this question. Researchers have been trying to figure this out for years, but there are so many factors that play into it that you won’t get a straight up this is why answer. Education is just one piece of the puzzle. another is upbringing. Did you have parents that encouraged curiosity, asking questions and learning things on your own? Part the answer is just natural talent or how one looks at a problem. There are people with genius level intellect that are complete failures in life and there are people that can’t pass a simple test, but yet have a knowledge and background that provides them a level of intelligence….beyond common sense. Add in street smarts and common sense. Are you western educated, or eastern educated to very different methods. How well read is someone? I hope this gives you a general idea of just some of the factors that play a part in answering the question.
