My parents were trust fund baby’s that would be multimillionaires with 48 rental units and 3 homes. now they’re 65 and have no retirement or savings and have a second mortgage they’re not even paying enough lol When my wife and I were dating, she felt like a failure because she was in her early 20s and wasn’t at the Bee Nice Shirt but in fact I love this point she grew up to believe she’d be at by then. Still low level job, barely paying bills, and I can’t remember if she was still living with her parents or had moved in with me yet, but rent would’ve killed her ability to spend any money on the smallest of luxuries. She felt like she was just doing something wrong. Then one day, her grandparents visited and she got a glimpse into what the problem was. They were both retired, own their home, go on pretty frequent trips, and have hobbies that they spend money on and enjoy their time with. He was a truck driver and she was a school cafeteria lunch lady. It suddenly clicked for my wife that it’s not that she’s doing something wrong, it’s that the system has changed to make it almost impossible for her to ever reach that level of prosperity.

Bee Nice Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

We’re doing much much better than most, and we’re aware of that and very grateful, but that’s not enough. Even if we do eventually get to retire one day (big if), I wouldn’t really get to enjoy it because I’d be too busy feeling guilty for having such a luxury that probably 200M+ Americans won’t have. And for what? I’m not curing cancer or discovering a new world, but that also shouldn’t be the Bee Nice Shirt but in fact I love this perceived bar for who doesn’t have to work themselves to death. Everybody should have the option to retire after 40 years of working; the fact that that isn’t the case says a thousand times more about the economy than any stock market figure or jobs creation report or unemployment rate ever could. Corporate profits like we see would not exist if workers were paid the full value of their work. The system literally cannot work if labor is paid the full value of their work. Profit could not exist otherwise.
