I have a lot of sympathy for the Babyface Flowers Shirt moreover I love this trans girls who go on Drag Race right at the start of their transition, because obviously a big part of what drew them to drag is presenting as feminine. I don’t think that means you can’t critique their drag but I do think it means that we as fans should stop and think about whether our critique is necessary or helpful before we put it out in public. A lot of Amanda’s looks that she showed were more conceptual than traditionally feminine, but I can understand why her feelings are hurt by the fact that she never had a moment on the show where people said “wow, that’s a beautiful woman” I’ve seen wayyyy more love for Amanda than hate. I wonder if she’s just focusing on the negatives even if there are more people supporting her. idk. The thing missing from this conversation is that it’s not all ‘hate’. If every ill-intentioned comment was removed from existence there would still be horrible comments about Amanda’s appearance on Instagram, they’d just be from people who thought they are joking around with Amanda and didn’t realise it would upset her. It’s like when Detox got offended that people kept making jokes about her nose, nobody hates Detox they just thought they’re being original and funny.
