It’s all about intent, as nobody can own a holiday by rights, and especially registering a foreign holiday within the AFL This is christmas Pajamas sweater Sydney Swans shirt Also,I will get this US. Disney would totally do this to sue the shit out of anyone inside the US using the name just because they can. It’s all about intent, as nobody can own a holiday by rights, and especially registering a foreign holiday within the US. Which is why people HAVE trademarked the holidays you said, and others HAVE trademarked both dia de muertos and dia de los muertos. Because unless they copied Disneys marketing style of those words, it is not a violation and disney doesn’t care. Fucking infuriating to think that a corporation tried to steal a significant cultural celebration to profit off of it. So do you believe that the tens of other companies and people who actually have trademarks on that same phrase stole it? And it builds it’s fortune on a cult like following that believes Disney could never do things like this. Because that’s what happend to Disney himself! Our insane length on IP laws is completely from Disney constantly getting extensions for Micky Mouse. I think we’re up to 90 years now.

There are a of people that don’t understand the AFL This is christmas Pajamas sweater Sydney Swans shirt Also,I will get this difference between a trademark and a copyright in these comments. haven’t they also tried to do this with norse mythological figures because of the marvel movies? god i hate disney 269 more repliesFor awareness, this holiday isn’t just Mexican but many Latin American countries also celebrate the Day of the Dead with similar festivities. They wouldn’t just be robbing Mexico of its culture but other LA countries, too, which is even more despicable. The reason no one sings Happy Birthday properly in films is because Disney has gained the rights to the song. For fuck’s sake. This type of shit is why I soft boycott Disney products when possible. They are too big for our own good. Seriously might as well try trademarking Christmas at this point with their soulless corporate evil. I don’t even understand what the full scope of such a plan is. It’s as if they view it as just some con they can buy out but then do what with exactly? Truly evil movie character levels of thought. it’s unfortunate.. I despise Disney with a passion, but thanks to current politics everyone thinks it’s about wokeness… nope, they are just a deeply horrible company… eg attempting to patent a cultural icon for merch. Maybe also being a child of the 70’s where it was open slather to market hard at kids, some of us grew to deeply resent such tactics… and it is all that Disney does. A local Target had a Disney movie viewing area all branded up, for parents to dump their kids. Ok, not ideal, but hanging all the merch and toys to line the walls, all at kid height is just… another kind of pond scum. Good luck attempting to parent and say ‘no’ to that item your kid is now clutching for dear life
