Most seemed to be normal people or students who just couldn’t keep a stable home. That’s only one instance but other friends who had people hit them up on the BSL or whatever have similar stories. As someone who is formerly homeless myself, the reason we decline food a lot is that it’s the thing everyone offers us, and we can only eat so much. Also we have no place to store it so if it goes bad we are out of luck. Don’t want to waste food that someone generously gave. Also, unfortunately some people can be cruel and do something to the food beforehand. We have no way of knowing. Also like the general population, many of us have food intolerance, allergies. I can t recall all the time I was offered food that I could not eat as a lactose intolerant, celiac person.
