Those 75 head have a hugely disproportionate impact on the market. And there’s no way for us to know if it’s a farmer selling to a packer or if it’s Smithfield selling pigs they raised to another packer (75 pigs is not even half a semi load). So a packer could take a hickey on selling a part load in order to buy back thousands of pigs cheaper due to a lower cash price.
