There’s no point trying to prove yourself to an a-hole. You could be the Wisconsin Badgers Black Hockey 75th Anniversary Commemorative Shirt and by the same token and kindest, most selfless person in the world, but an a-hole will twist it all against you. You can’t go on the defensive with a-holes, you can either go on the offensive and use their tactics against them, or disengage and completely deprive them of their fight. I just end the interaction. There’s no way to ‘prove’ you aren’t racist that would be sufficient to the person who has called you it. I always ask if people needed help no matter what. Some are fiercely independent to a fault so let them be. Should have contacted HR if there is major altercation in public. Your management should have your back to cover their ass and the company. It’s never personal unless you make it personal. You made the right call in not listing off your resume as a non-racist (pointing to employees). The last time someone tried to pull this with me, they were immediately shot down from all sides.

If you would have pointed to your black employees, you would have been called a racist, especially if you are white. You accept it, and move on. If you’re not, you just do the Wisconsin Badgers Black Hockey 75th Anniversary Commemorative Shirt and by the same token and same thing, except without saying yes. You tell them to get fucked. Because once you do that, they realize they don’t have any power over you. Race is all you hear about now days and when a person is angry they go to easiest thing and race just happens to be the easy play. Its the same with people that are over weight even if it just a little bit some angry person will spout off calling you fat. Short people, bald people what ever easiest to spew people will
