Ironically, the Whimsical Forever Gnome Friends Holiday Shirt but in fact I love this only time I had a card shut down was when I tried to purchase a $12 wifi pass on AirFrance. It took several weeks of back and forth. Finally got a call back from someone working at HQ and she was more annoyed at the issue than me. Some banks require you to notify them, some don’t. Some will let a few transactions through before they turn the card off. ATMs usually are better than exchanging your money, and as stated here, don’t let the machine do the conversion. What I’d do is go to the ATM, and get some cash out, then you’d have Euros, and would still have the cash you brought as a back up if needed later, until you can call the bank. In the mean time, after you get cash from the ATM, try using the card (not the card you would need at the ATM) and see if it works. Grab a Starbucks or something simple at the airport. If it works there, then you are likely good to go.

It has already killed a lot of West African native languages. In Mumbai, speaking marathi is considered down market & low class in posh neighborhoods. In Delhi, speaking hindi is considered low class in posh neighborhoods. Britishers left, but they left their socio-cultural impact on India. English is not just a language in India anymore. It has become a class and a symbol of literacy (not a symbol of intelligence). It is already the default language in the wealthy class of Indians. In the 18th century, it was just the language of one country. But now the story is totally opposite. With the advent of the Internet, English is slowly creeping its way into the education system, replacing ancient education systems. With the number of people going abroad for studies and are taking permanent citizenship, I really doubt Indian languages are going to have the same status in the future.
