Anyway, I kind of got annoyed with myself that I kept worrying about things that were already settled. Another thing I noticed was that my mind has a sneaky way of changing topics. So let’s say I want to think constructively about a certain topic and two minutes later I catch myself worrying again about that thing that doesn’t need extra worrying. So I started to really pay attention to what is vocalized or communicated in any way inside my mind. And that’s when some very interesting stuff started to happen. I started to differentiate (or tried to) between my actual inner voice and let’s just call them “other inputs”. And everytime I caught myself “drifting” or if suddenly something popped in my head without me wanting it there, I quite literally told myself to be quiet and focus on the What I Do All Day Things I Do with My Goats T-Shirt But I will love this topic at hand. After a few days I started to recognize how much of what I previously perceived to be my thoughts were served up by my subconscious (I’d say in extreme cases easily 80% of my mental resources were spent dealing with this “garbage”. Any worry about a problem that I have been mulling over for days, I stopped with “I have already decicded how to approach/solve this, there is no benefit in spending more time thinking about this”. After a while, you condition your own brain to only serve up constructive things. I still catch myself sometimes when I drift off, but it’s very rare. I kind of liken it to the What I Do All Day Things I Do with My Goats T-Shirt But I will love this opposite of depression where you amplify that negative cycle and here you don’t necessarily amplify the positive but you train your brain to ignore the needlessly negative, which is then perceived as amplifying the positive.
