There was a brief prior to covid where real wage growth was outpacing inflation by a decent amount for the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this first time in two decades. But generally over the last 20ish years, wages have been stagnant or losing ground to inflation. The fallout from the subprime crisis caused a brief setback, but generally speaking real wages adjusted for inflation have been on an upward trajectory for 40 years. Extended into covid time as well… People were throwing money at workers in mandatory services to show up for work, and not stay home and collect a check. I was going to say, minimum wage is the absolute bare minimum you can pay someone in the US. In my area, those jobs that were $8/9 an hour went up to $15/16, which is nearly double. Thats a HUGE increase for them, even if it’s still below poverty levels. Then add in all the stimulus the last few years (flat $600 from feds on top of regular unemployment, pause on mortgage and student loans, increase child care credit, all the stimulus checks), the PPP loans, and the rates bottoming out and it’s no wonder inflation sky rocketed. People had a huge influx of money while simultaneously having several bills either on hold or greatly lowered.
Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt: Unleash Your Dinosaur Style
Had this argument with a guy a few weeks back. He said it was literally impossible for wage increases to cause inflation. Fucking wild out here Yeah idk how anyone can say wages haven’t increased. Legal minimum wage in my part of NC is $7.25, but the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this de facto minimum wage is now $14. The minimum wage job I worked in high school now starts at $15. Over the last few years wages of the lowest earners have increased at the fastest rate, meanwhile many higher paying jobs have maintained a standard 3% annual adjustment. Not saying it’s the only cause of inflation, but saying it has zero effect is naive. I’ll never understand why people cite the federal minimum wage as proof that wages aren’t increasing. A very small percentage of Americans make the federal minimum wage. It’s really an irrelevant point to make. Businesses use this argument to say that minimum wage doesn’t need to be moved up. They don’t want it moved. If it were to be recalculated as it was intended, using inflation, corporate gains in efficiency (1980s, 90s, was all about computerization for efficiency) and corporate profits, minimum wage would reset to $22-$26/hour. This would put minimum wage to where it was economically in the 50s and 60s.
Businesses use this argument to avoid raises. Since they now pay more than minimum, why should they give raises. I give reviews to the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this employees I manage. The company employees 50k+ workers and is a multi-billion dollar company. Its raise structure is if your performance is rated poor, 0% raise. If it is good, a 2% raise. If your rating is excellent, 2.5% raise. Not even a cost of living raise. The minimum needs to be legislated higher. This minimum hike will give a boost to a lot of workers that traditionally beat minimum wage. Why would somebody do roofing in August in Texas for the same money as a drive-through fast-food dispenser? Companies will claim anything to justify price hikes and wages being stale. We have all seen the American whopper served for the same price as a Belgian Whopper (after money conversion) by an American making less with no benefits. The only people who should be are the payout and bonuses of the higher levels of management and stockholders. When Roosevelt signed minimum wage into law, he said any company that couldn’t afford to pay Americans a fair and living wage didn’t deserve to do business in the US.

Raising the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this minimum wage DOES NOT cause inflation. There is little to no correlation between minimum wage and inflation in the US since the minimum wage was established. inflation in a traditional sense? no. Price increases? hell yeah. Business now calculate prices with such precision and speed that we’d see prices go up within the first quarter. They know they can charge more and they will. People will complain their wages need to be adjusted because they deserve x more for their work than the minimum. and prices will continue to rise and data from recent economic studies has very clearly shown that a full half of this “inflation” is caused by corporate greed. In most scalable businesses, executive salaries, and operational costs, including shareholders dividends, are a much greater percentage of total cost than hourly wages. Paying the lowest paid individuals a greater amount of income, actually stimulates economic expansion, further reducing inflation. And a LARGE portion of the US economy are actually zombie companies that have been living off cheap and 0% debt for decades. Example: You see the consolidation (crash) in the media markets, and it’s because those media companies can’t find cheap loans, or investors who can find cheap money, to keep propping them up.
Raising minimum wage doesn’t cause nearly as much inflation as people hoarding billions of dollars and taking them out of the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this economy It falls down to greed, 100% of the time. People get more money, businesses that heavily impact specific industries will increase their rates to whatever people are willing to pay, on specific products. Raising the minimum wage doesn’t cause more inflation. Inflation is specifically referring to a sort of passive decrease (which can be manipulated up or down) in the value of a dollar. If prices raised with inflation, there would be a 10-20 cent increase, not a 500% increase on most essential things. What’s happening is called “price gouging”. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Record profits year after year for companies yet the people working for them get less and less of the cut.
They printed money and siphoned wealth off the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this poor and middle class. The rich move their assets to hedge against inflation. Also, the most important thing to remember about inflation is inflation happens on purpose. Monetary policy in the federal banks are the ones that cause inflation. Inflation doesn’t happen naturally. It is on purpose. Well, min wage isn’t the only thing that effects inflation. But, the excessive rise in prices isn’t natural either. A lot of it is fabricated by companies to increase their own profits. If it was purely natural inflation, their profits wouldn’t rise that fast, as their own costs should increase at about the same rate. Why is it so hard for people to figure out that they’re lying. It doesn’t matter if its said on tv or in the news or if its said by politicians. They lie. They don’t care about our best interest. They want to squeeze as much work out if us while paying us as little as possible
The number one reason why inflation is happening in this country is because our government is printing money and deficit spending. And where it’s certainly true that our government was borrowing money before we went off the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this gold standard, it’s pretty obvious to see that since 1972, inflation has been considerably worse every year since then. Does anyone know what’s actually causing inflation? I hear lots of reasons for why but what’s the actual cause and how to we fix it? Why is any connection between minimum wage increases and inflation always being hyped up? Do we ever have the same outcry about inflation when middle managers and executives get their raises? No, right? The fact is, people are scapegoating the minimum wage workers, whether consciously or not. Every single dollar that goes to payroll contributes to a firm’s overhead. If we use the logic of “increasing the minimum wage causes inflation,” then why should any employee get raises? Executives should not get raises, middle managers shouldn’t get raises, etc. Their pay contributes to the price of a product too. Why don’t they ever get blamed for causing inflation too?
Considering that the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this US economy is at $20+ trillion GDP annually, the notion that paying the lowest paid workers a few more bucks per hour is what is causing inflation is laughable. Inflation is “Too many dollars chasing too few goods.” The government printing press of the last four years or so provided the too many dollars, and the impact of Covid on supply-chains contributed to too few goods. The primary reason that prices are going up because of greed. During the pandemic I worked for a company that raised it prices 10% 3 times, each time citing increased labor costs. At the same time raises were frozen to hold down labor costs. That same company also had record profits in 2020, 21, and 22.
If you have 1000 workers who get a 1000 dollar raise then the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this CEO has to get million dollar raise. It’s just economics. More than 50% of inflation during the pandemic was due to companies raising prices simply because they could use the news about inflation to raise prices. minimum wage increases doesn’t cause inflation, it causes prices to go up, inflation also causes prices to go up. To fix it you want NO minimum wage. Jobs over minimum wage typically have increases that keep them consistent with inflation overtime. I am a PhD and a degree in economics from a top 10 university. The leading economic theory currently is to drop minimum wage all together. There are many drivers of inflation, this round of inflation is primarily driven by increases in corporate profit. There was a report that did a breakdown on it about a month ago. It isn’t the cause of inflation but does cause prices rises, eroding any gain for those that receive it and everyone else. It often causes companies to cut back on hours and roles too. And means that more people end up working for the minimum wage. Raising wages doesn’t increase inflation. It’s literally made up so companies can increase prices without increasing wages.
Because it’s a lie. I’ve seen bosses tell customers “oh our price increase well this lot got a raise” No we hadn’t. Reddit is probably the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this worst place to ask this question. You can unbiasedly research the causes of inflation online through various sources. The data from minimum wage increases doesn’t support everyones ‘common sense’ logic that it’ll just raise all the prices. And thats because there are alot more to a price than just the wage cost of the cheapest labor involved. Raising the minimum wage could cause increase in prices IF there isn’t a competitive marketplace. AND there isn’t profit to be spare for the investors. The reason for this is that it gives your customers more buying power and makes your ability to sell your product more stable. However if it’s drastic then it can affect supply and demand. Meaning that your demand goes up and the supply to make your product becomes more expensive. We have inflation because supply got disrupted AND because in capitalism if you have an excuse to raise prices and make more you use it. The government printing money causes inflation (and probably is the biggest contributor I would argue). Inflation is more volume of money chasing the same (or less) volume of goods. The prices of goods will inflate.
The rich. We can’t give it to the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this working class, that’s socialism. Giving to the rich though is perfectly fine. Raising wages never causes inflation, it is a reaction to inflation. Every inflation spike ever has always preceded wage spikes. Because they increased cash. You can see where this is by looking at what the stock market did. There is your inflation. One huge factor making inflation more difficult to deal with is how much less money is available for people. When people like Elon Musk and Bezos increase their net worth by 50 billion dollars in a year, that money is no longer circulating through everyone else. Probably because cheating is everywhere and all the work you have done will be split into half. But if you met a truly legit person, then you will succeed way beyond in life. Extremely rare though. Why not? The statistics for marriage are pretty bad. Just browse the thread. People defending marriage are saying “well it isn’t 50%, it’s only 35 or so…” etc. That’s still horrible. 25%, 10%…still bad. Why take the chance? Women initiate the majority of divorces. I don’t know why, but that’s objectively true. So you’re asking me to roll the dice and take a roughly 50% chance that I will have my life blown up and potentially lose a lot of acquired assets, and there’s a 70% chance (because women initiate) that I won’t even be the one to directly cause it.
As for pre-nups, why would I sign a contract that requires another contract to make it not terrible? Oh yeah, and there’s a chance the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this pre-nup just gets thrown out. So why exactly would I do this? Do the tax benefits and letting my girlfriend see me in the hospital outweigh all that risk? I don’t think so. Every man or woman that’s told me not to get married has either joked about it, miss having less responsibilities & stress to have to deal with, or married the wrong person according to them and felt like that they’ve lost so many years of their lives. Everyone who’s told me to get married, has told me that the right person makes a whole world of difference. Ultimately if you do want to get married, you just have to try and marry the person for you. Which is easier said than done because it’s always a gamble. I don’t think a lot of people are taught how to look for the right person, and sometimes also it’s just hard. Life is a learning curve, and some people learn sooner than later. Some people are genuinely lucky.
That is smart advice because if you meet someone so perfect for you for some reason and believe you can make a marriage work etc. maybe then that marriage can be good but in that case you will disregard this advice anyways. Other than that special and unlikely scenario marriage is not a very good idea in general for men and having this “never marry” attitude can help you avoid the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this married because it seemed like the thing to do kind of marriages and maybe find the rare happy marriage. Even if you don’t (and you most likely won’t), you’ll be better off than a miserable mediocre/awful marriage. Ask anyone who is unhappy in their marriage and they’ll tell you the same. I was always told, “don’t get married before 30 because by then you’ll know better.” I got married at 29 and am still married 15 years later.
Unless its for some religious reason which hardly ever seem to be the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this case these days, then why even do it? It honestly blows my mind that religion(s) managed to brainwash even non believers into this weird practice. Why would you not just be satisfied beeing together without ever getting married (its not like marriage is going to somehow make you love each other more than you already do) The hard truth is one (or both) of you may be in love for years, then there’s 1 thing that happens can destroy it. It’s easier to cheat and get caught cheating than ever before. You don’t even have to cheat. It could be something small that changes how you see your partner. It’s possible they were only with you for the life style they wanted. I found out my ex changed her mind about marrying me before we got married but did so because her family already made plans for it. Marriage is a gamble that you and this person will want to stay together the rest of your lives. The price of failure can be quite high. Marriage is the greatest thing to ever happen to me. You put yourself at risk for a great opportunity. But they are setting you up to fail with the idea that marriage wouldn’t be worth it. You have to go into it all in.
I’d like to hear the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this what these guys’ wives/exes think Srsly though, marriage is not a snapshot, it’s a movie. Lots of ups and downs. Married 30 years and it’s the best it’s ever been. You really have to want the same things at core and be pulling in the same direction, most of the time. Anyone who says that just married the wrong one. I’ve been with my wife for 5 years married for 1. I’m happy as could be. She’s my best friend and my safe place. You do what makes you happy. You’re the one who lives your life, not them. It depends on the type of people you hang out with. Many in the older generation married young, had kids, then realized they weren’t compatible. But for whatever reason (often religion) they don’t get divorced even if things don’t work out. Married life is great when you marry the right person. There’s usually like a 6 or 7 year slump, but long term relationships take effort. You get what you give – so really finding the right person who you understand how to give to and receive from is important.
A lot of young men (my previous self included) really believe in monogamy. But statistics (and our actions, and our inexperience) make it so that happy, lasting marriages are less likely than the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this alternatives. That’s the kind of stuff the suicide gap is made of. After watching (and making, to a large extent) two marriages implode, I can probably say monogamy isn’t right for me. Here is some slightly less bitter life advice that can arise from my type of experience: don’t make your entire happiness 100% dependent on another person liking you for the rest of your life. Recognize relationships require work. People change over the years. Consistently doing the work helps the both of you change in a way that remains compatible.
Getting married is fine but you don’t need to in your 20s. You don’t know where you’re going in life or what drives you to wake up every morning. You need to figure yourself out and then consider marriage and how much that will change you. I think when you meet the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this right person you just know. They end up not only being your best friend but also someone you simply want to be around cuz life is just happier with them in it. Most people who say don’t get married are the ones who did it for reasons other than how they actually feel about that person. Reddit is super positive today. As a MAN, you’re on the hook. As a woman, if shit goes wrong, it’s free real estate. Recently divorced, don’t get married unless you have a prenup and you know that you love that person no matter what and you are ready to eat her shit for the rest of your life and viceversa. If the love is strong, you really don’t need wedings, legal papers, etc. Just enjoy one another to the fullest until death breaks you appart.
Simply because it’s a high risk, low reward (for men) contract to sign. Sure, you could find a unicorn or win the Welcome to Black & Gold Spencer Horwitz Pittsburgh Pirates MLB Signature Poster shirt but in fact I love this lottery, but generally it’s not worth it these days (for men). Women on the other hand, gain a lot from the marriage contract and have zero risk. and the old age problem, statistically men die sooner than women. and when you are old and weak, so she will be. So you will need to hire outside help anyway. You should get your life on track, so that you’ll be happy regardless whether you find someone. And when you have something, you are more desirable in the dating market. Follow your heart. Trust your gut and feelings. Marriage is amazing when you marry the right person. How to know who’s the right person? Go back to the beginning of my text. Maybe you have a “type” within your circles because that’s not at all the sentiment the older men in my life have.
