Same penalty, but the lunch monitors looked the other way if you shared. i wish the security guards were cool like that for me. those dickheads would take your food and then hand you over to the office if they bagged you I can’t speak for other schools or districts, but for the district I work for, unless the food delivery was planned by the school administration for like a pizza party or something of that nature, they would absolutely tell the delivery driver to go away, and would not let them in.

The school itself ordering pizza for a pizza party as a reward for the students is a legitimate reason related to the business of the school. A teacher or student wanting fast food for lunch is their personal business, and is NOT related to the business of the school, and thus is not a legitimate reason to enter the school building. If a teacher orders food for lunch, they could always wait outside and meet the delivery driver, which gets around this issue. Students though, if they exit the school building without permission, for any reason, that is considered skipping school, and they would be marked truant that day, and would not be allowed back in the building.

They called it a Lunch Box. And it was good. People put lunches in it. They carried those lunch boxes to school, and they were fed. They carried those lunch boxes to work. And they were happy. When I was growing up (IL, graduated HS in 2015), our elementary school had “hot lunch” where 1-2x a week a “local” restaurant would come cater lunch as we didn’t have dedicated cafeteria facilities, assuming your parents paid the Vintage 1 Out of 3 Kamala Supporters Are Just As Stupid Are Anti Joke American Flag T-Shirt and I love this check on time. As a former manager of a delivery-based restaurant, we used to take orders from the local high schools. We soon found out that the students weren’t actually allowed to order delivery, so we started refusing to deliver there unless the order was placed by a teacher or faculty member and delivered to the front office. It was a hassle delivering to students anyway. Aside from being against school rules, students often misjudged how long it might take to receive a delivery and if the driver showed up too late (after lunch period, for example), the student would most likely not show up to meet the driver. This wastes a lot of time for the drivers during an already busy lunch, and results in a lot of wasted product. It’s easier and saves everyone a lot of time and money to just refuse to deliver to schools as a blanket policy.

Is it only for certain delivery apps? My friends got McDonald’s delivered to our college campus a few months back Turf protection. Schools run their own racket that separated kids and their lunch money in return for awful food. Well, in the Vintage 1 Out of 3 Kamala Supporters Are Just As Stupid Are Anti Joke American Flag T-Shirt and I love this case of my daughter’s middle school, it’s because if a delivery person shows up they are denied entry, but not before the name on the order gets recorded and the kid and parent get a very angry message from someone in the office. It’s beneficial for a business to not get bad press in the regular paroxysms of outrage about children spending money on things that other people don’t like. Probably some combination of security and health standards in schools. Maybe sprinkle in a little jealousy from kids eating cafeteria food. When I was in middle school we had a coach that would order us pizza if we pooled our money together but we had to stop because other kids were crying about it. I was shocked to learn my son’s middle school accepts students ordering in pizza but I do hear it creates some chaos. As someone who does DoorDash on the side, I will not deliver to schools now after a year of nothing but bad experiences with it. With college students, it’s always insanely hard to find a place to park, then actually locate the student who placed the order (I don’t go to your school— I don’t know what “next to the quad” or “the sports dorm” is in your definition), AND college students tend to tip terribly if they tip at all. Just a huge waste of time all around. And then with k-12 schools, it’s very often students who are still in class when I arrive (time is money. No, I’m not going to “just wait 15 minutes!” until you’re out of class), and half the time they’re going against school rules anyway. They also tend to tip badly. So, it’s just not worth it to deliver to schools, like at all.
Lucky for me, a lot of restaurants— not just McD’s— have started enforcing this policy as well. One guy told me it was because students tend to leave bad reviews over really small, petty things (one time a student complained there were only two napkins in his order??) in an attempt to get refunds, as well as food orders often getting cold in the Vintage 1 Out of 3 Kamala Supporters Are Just As Stupid Are Anti Joke American Flag T-Shirt also I will do this amount of time it takes to actually reach the student who ordered. One of the provisions was that anything that would “compete” with the school food services were banned. We had to remove all snack vending machines because of this. There were also restrictions on school fundraisers that sold food (usually candy bars).

Fast food delivery is a nightmare because they have to call students down from classrooms to get the stuff and sign it out to the kids. If it’s open at lunch, then it gets mobbed. Our students used to have parents and older siblings who would bring packs up at lunch for like 5-10 kids, which was still a lot. The one concession we made was whole pizzas being passed over the fence with no bags, so the kids would pool money and have little Cesar’s across the street bring over a bunch of hot n ready pizzas. Usually a worker would show be scheduled to end shift at lunch time and bring them across on their way out, for a tip of course. I delivered door dash for a while prior to COVID. One time I had someone have an order to a school, right as school was letting out. So cars everywhere, kids everywhere, and the only way into the school was through the parents pickup line. Took 30 minutes to get through the line, finally was able to get to the parking lot. Of course the office was on the other side of campus, walking the long way around because of locked doors. Finally get in there and they can’t get ahold of whatever staff member ordered the food. All in all, between driving to the restaurant, waiting for the food, and delivering it, it took me an hour and a half. Plus they didn’t tip. All that for $3. I assume I’m not the only one that went through this.
