If I could take back every $$$ I’ve spent on drinks and instead invested it. I wouldnt be having a hard time getting a downpayment for a home. If you know how to have fun without drinking. Then I would say do it. You don’t need alcohol to enjoy apending time with friends or having fun. Wish I knew this when I was 18. Now I’m 30. Yup; don’t do it. There’s no real payoff in the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt and by the same token and end….you can kill time and socialize over a Pepsi just as easily as a gin and tonic. Particularly if you feel like the addictive part of you is there, this is an important self-awareness to pay attention to! And one most folks your age are not even remotely aware of; so good on ya. I’ll keep it a buck, don’t do anything you don’t want too. I barely partied when I was younger and I don’t drink often aside from partying it up last year every weekend, but that’s because I was in the right place in my life to have some fun(27 years old, make good money, bills paid and living comfortable). If you do choose to be responsible and do it when YOU’RE ready around GOOD people who will watch your back and make sure you don’t do anything stupid.
Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt, hoodie, long sleeve, v-neck tee
When I was 18 I had no desire to drink or try drugs. Best decision ever. Saw so many people die over the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt and by the same token and years, especially alcohol related. I (39M) never started drinking, zero regrets. I have tasted a few different kinds of drinks at different times, never enough to feel anything, but enough to know that the taste is awful. I’m 68; I drink little enough that every doctor I’ve had just marks “Non-drinker” on my forms. I don’t feel I’ve missed anything by it – and compared to some of my friends I’ve saved a ton of money (that I’ve spent on other things that interest me a lot more than drinking, like board games). I mean drinking in and of itself isn’t bad, but kids tend to do stupid shit, and alcohol inhibits stupid shit, so it’s not a bad idea to not drink. I enjoy a beverage on occasion, but I’m just as fine not drinking. Events centered around alcohol consumption get old quick, so you’re not missing out on much.
Avoid booze. There are zero benefits to drinking. Wish I have never started. You are healthier, you save money and you aren’t missing anything. Just tell people you don’t drink, good people will respect it, and those that dont, you don’t want them around . Don’t do something YOU don’t want to do. However, if you do decide to drink, ask if you can drink with your parents or someone you trust in a low threat environment to get a feel for it. It’s what I did. I learned really quick that 2-3 drinks was acceptable and sometimes enjoyable, 4-6 is borderline, and anything more than that in a night was a mistake. It helps to understand and stick to your own boundaries if you do it in a safe space first.

Some information about Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt
Yes, you’ll be a bit of an outcast if you don’t. That goes double for your 20s and 30s. And alcohol really kicks ass in moderation. But if that’s not what you wanna do, fuck it. Don’t let anyone give yiu shit about it. You’ll be missing out on a side of yourself you might really love, but the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt and by the same token and downside is that you may love it too much. Im 21 and have been an alcoholic since 18 but started at 14. If i could go back and change one thing about my life it would be to never drink. 3rd day sober today in over a year and hoping to stay clean What’s lame is doing things to appear a different way to others- sticking to who you are or want to be isn’t lame and people who shame you for doing things different to them just show you what a red flag they are as a friend. Be yourself, if you don’t want to drink, don’t; but don’t feel ashamed, it’s actually a strength most people don’t have.
Literally the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt and by the same token and best decision. I gave up alcohol this year at 39 and I’m so glad I did. Never liked it all that much anyway. I just didn’t want to be left out. Good for you! It’s definitely not lame. I used to drink A LOTTT in my teens & even at 20. I lost my brother when I was 21 due to his own alcoholism and I pretty much decided then & there that I was basically done with alcohol because it broke me to continue consuming the exact thing that had just taken my only blood sibling away from me. That was January 2009 and I don’t actually think I will ever recover from that. My husband also doesn’t drink because alcoholism runs in his family from his younger brother & dad. We’re both 36 1/2 now and we might drink once a year, if that. As of today’s date, neither of us has drank since New Year’s Day 2023. We don’t miss it, and we don’t feel like we’re missing out due to not drinking.
Yes. In my humble opinion, not starting a known addictive substance, that is otherwise a gasoline additive, is probably best not to start. Yes. It is a fantastic idea to not start drinking. Sobriety is not lame. What’s really lame is getting a DUI, getting arrested, crashing your car, accidentally getting someone pregnant, starting a fight and getting the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt and by the same token and shit kicked out of you, choking on your vomit, and paying a shit ton of money to engage in these fine activities. Like smoking, drinking can become habitual, bad for your health, and very expensive. Smoker of 20+ years, and daily drinker for the last 4+ years. Last year I was spending at least $350 a month on cigarettes, and alcohol a month. I get my stuff cheap, and drink at home. I have heard of smokers/drinkers spending upward of $500-700 a month. Public drinking is even more expensive. You risk gaining a lot of weight, and possibly high blood pressure. That’s the minimal health risks when you consider cancer is also a factor. I’m currently 46, having to diet, and ween myself of both smoking, and drinking. It’s hard as fuck. Don’t put yourself through it just to fit in.
To add another contrarian answer, the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt and by the same token and best thing to do is to not build up alcohol to be a giant decision to make. If you do, you’ll likely find yourself judging those who drink, even if you do not mean to. It’s also not something worth looking at alcoholics and basing your decision off their lives. There are a lot of repeated bad decisions between you and them. Don’t fall for peer pressure, just deal with it if you get bullied because those kids will definitely have some fuck ups down the live because of it. I’m ngl dude, in college like maybe 20% of my friend group, including myself, didn’t drink at all, there’s plenty of people who DONT DRINK period, be it health, religion, personal preference w.e. Plenty of reasons and they are all valid. My family has a history of alcohol abuse and substance problems which was part of my decision to not drink.
I chose not to it’s fine, nobody really cares that I don’t and tbh nobody really asks why when I say I don’t drink. Plus, if people are socially outcasting someone for Not Drinking they generally aren’t worth hanging out with tbh. Going out with my friends, I save a ton of money and usually my buddies pay for my food etc, when I go out with friends since I end up the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt and by the same token and DD, and get the homies home. Drinking in moderation, like many things is fine, and its an experience you may want to try sone day, but never hurts to wait, you might change your mind in a few years. As a 37 year old who has never even tried alcohol: it’s totally doable. Regret nothing, feel like I’ve missed out on nothing and people tell me that they wish they’d done the same thing all the time. If I could do it all over again the same way I totally would.
I’m a junior software engineer who recently became unemployed. I’m feeling quite depressed whilst job searching and would like some ideas of activities in London that won’t break the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this bank. If it helps, I’m a 29 year old male from SW London Edit: I wasn’t fired from my role, I voluntarily left due to intense toxicity within the team and being asked to do senior level tasks (with absolutely no support or anyone to assist me considering I’m a junior), whilst also being forced to work two roles at the same time. I know it seems silly to leave my job considering how tough the job market is atm but my mental health was completely f*cked from it In a similar situation myself. For me the gym has been really helpful in terms of helping me feel better and filling up some time. Otherwise I’m in the same boat and not sure what else to do so interested on what others suggest I hope you have better luck than I’m having. What kinda jobs are you looking for? Some people are suggesting gym and going museum and for walks which sound up my street. I stopped going gym a month ago but need to get back into it. I also wanna try bouldering but my friends are too lazy for it lol. Kinda wanna go out and meet new people but no idea how to go about it lol
run dem crew: they meet in Spitalfields every Tuesday at 18:30. Sexy pace (no man left behind, when I went it was 7:30 min/km) London city runners: I think they meet every day, around tower bridge. What’s cool about it is that they have their own pub. It’s customary to tap £2 or get a pint after. Also, parkrun, obviously. There should be a decent number of run clubs in your area if you want to keep it local 🙂 In my experience bouldering is one of the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this best sports to try by yourself and make new friends. Almost every time I go bouldering I end up chatting to someone! Especially if there’s other people going regularly it’s a pretty easy place to meet people Thanks, you too! It is really difficult in the tech scene atm so I can totally empathise with you. I’m also looking for a software engineer role. Bouldering sounds fun! Something I’ve always wanted to try actually. In terms of meeting new people meetup.com is good. I’ve used it a lot. For going on walks and stuff like that and I’ve met quite a few cool people there, and if you’re not as bad as me at keeping in contact with people you should have no trouble Loads of redundancies, companies not hiring as much. If you’re very junior it’s hard out there. If you’re a team lead/lead engineer, things are a bit better but not great. Indeed – I’m a senior engineer, was made redundant by a systematic trading firm, have been unable to find anything. I’m here on a skilled worker visa and will likely have to return home to America (where the tech market isn’t much better, to be honest).
I’m planning to transition into tech soon….I’m a complete noob. My question is: in the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this grand scheme how are things related? The way I see it everything is happening online these days. Why are people made redundant, is it because AI is taking over? Not everything is online, at least not at the really high paying jobs anyway. I’m in the office 3-4 days a week, as are almost all my other friends in software in London. I don’t like it, but at the same time, it is what it is (and also, if everyone was remote, what would stop them from hiring devs from cheaper cities/countries?) As for why redundancies happen, I couldn’t tell you any more than what you would find in the news. But things are cyclical, always.
Squash is really good and really low barrier to starting, anyone who can hit the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this ball can have really good rallies, flick me a dm if you ever want a game, I’m still pretty new and free during the week days Pick an area you haven’t seen much of and take a few hours off wandering in the afternoon. It can be motivation for you to do a few applications in the morning, it’s cheap and walking around is one of the best relievers of stress for me at least. Also epping forest area 🙂 I live in Snaresbrook and it’s beautiful around here and on the central line. Swan ponds and everything Enjoying free museums and galleries. Tate Modern always lifts my spirits. Same for walking along the Thames on the way there.
I’m a big fan of the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this Thames Path anywhere west of Putney. There’s also the River Brent which is a really nice walk too. And the museums are a nice suggestion too. Personally I find the V&A a great place to wander aimlessly and think about random stuff. There’s a nice atmosphere to it. If you sign up for universal credit too if eligible loads of places do like 1/3 pound entry for those on benefits. Unemployed here too but working in media. It’s very challenging to let go and enjoy what others might view as “free time”. Budget is a constraint, my pride has taken a bit of a kicking, and having a pint at the end of the day doesn’t feel deserved. Recommendations: Go to a good coffee shop and read. This is a luxury I can’t deffo can’t seem to make time for when I’m employed. Learn how to cook or bake something. My diet is pretty convenience-based when I’m working so having the time to make meals from scratch has been lovely. As someone who was made redundant in Nov and starting next week after this one, my advise will be (if you exercise) is try to build a gym routine 4x a week. Try go around 9 – 11 ish in the morn. You’ll get to know an older demographic of gym goers, and the majority of equipment will always be free First of all I’d say just take at least 1 or 2 weeks off to mentally decompress. That’ll help you unwind and just accept the reality of your situation
I’d definitely say my mental was impacted in the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this 3 months without work, money issues etc, but luckily I had a decent savings so paying rent etc was ok, plus my parents didn’t live far so I’d pop over every other day to hangout and save a bit more cash, plus redundancy kept my head above water for this period. Some advise for something I wish I changed during this period was to tell all my nearest and dearest about my situation and redundancy and that you’re finding it tough, I made the mistake of not telling some of my mates, and just saying i didn’t want to go out and I was trying to save. You don’t have to be embarrassed or ashamed, unfortunately these things happen in life but it’s not the end of things.
You’ll be fine getting through this, you’ve got skills, and in the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this totality of your career, a few months out of work will be insignificant So many helpful and supportive comments on here, thank you so much everyone :’) you’re all wonderful <3 I can't respond to everyone as I'm out currently but I appreciate everyone here If you can afford it I’d suggest getting some therapy, even if only a few sessions to see if it helps. I came out of a toxic job and I didn’t look after my mental health afterwards – I ended up having to work a lot harder later on to fix the damage. If you survived the probation period at your previous company, I'd drop the "Junior". Do your best to tell yourself it's a promotion with extra steps.
Imo, junior dev roles are either for people with no "team dev" experience, or just an excuse for a team to underpay someone who doesn't yet know their worth. It sounds like you have that experience. Imo, junior dev roles are either for people with no "team dev" experience, or just an excuse for a team to underpay someone who doesn't yet know their worth. It sounds like you have that experience. Anyone under about 2 years actually shipping production code for a product used by customers is definitely Junior, and you're bullshitting yourself if you think otherwise. I've been doing hiring and interviews in tech for 8ish years now, if you applied for a mid role without experience to back it, you'd be out in the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this CV stage. I doubt OP’s CV is the problem, for the first time in like 2 decades SwEng hiring has slowed down. There’s not a ton of senior roles going, much less junior ones.
Have you heard of the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this Capital Ring walk? TfL basically created a circular walk round London that covers 78 miles and takes you through green area (like parks, wetlands, canals etc.) all the way round London. It might be a fun activity for you if you’re keen to get out of the house and you might see new bits of London too. I’ve personally only done the Northern parts but they’re beautiful and generally take you past nice cafes/ pubs where you can stop and have lunch if you fancy it. It’s strangely underutilised but there are signposts and good info online to navigate so I think it’s a shame more people don’t know about it. Sorry to hear you’re feeling down mate. I know it’s a difficult situation, but hopefully it will pass soon and you’ll find something.
When I’ve been in the Victor Wembanyama San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball comic vintage Shirt Furthermore, I will do this same place it’s always been walking with a podcast or music for me. London has loads of really great, beautiful parks to explore and – personally – just seeing a bit of green or getting to watch some birds fuck about for a bit does my mental health a world of good. Not sure whereabouts you live exactly, but there’s loads of great parks in South London. Brockwell Park, Tooting and Wandsworth Common, Battersea park have all been a lot of help over the years! Maybe just pick one in walking distance, and have a good ramble around. You can also make a tea or coffee at home and take it with you or buy a cheapy beer somewhere for maximum enjoyment. If you have a bicycle then I would also suggest going for a nice ol’ cycle as well. The exercise will help your mood and it’s a great way to see the city. Cycling along the embankment or to nice places you’ve never seen before is just a really lovely experience. And you can tie it in with other free experiences like museums, art galleries etc. that might otherwise a bit too far away. If you haven’t got a bike, there’s enough rentals around for cheapish. If you’re going further afield I’d always suggest bringing home snacks, sandwiches, a bottle of whatever, thermos of tea or whatever you might need with you so you don’t end up hungry and having to purchase something ludicrously priced from a shop.
