It’s like they actually give a shit. Their recidivism rate has decreased 40-50% (currently at 20%)in the past thirty years due to their transition to restorative justice practices. And here we’re at about 44% with our punitive measures. But our prison system was never about rehabilitating people. From what I’ve seen, they focus way more on the rehabilitation and less on the punishment. Reoffence rates are better at least Treat someone like a person and they will likely act like a person. Treat them like an animal and an animal you will almost certainly get. I wish the American system could figure that out. Prison is prison. If I had to be in one then I would prefer this over the run of mill US prison but all in all / thank you but no. And there’s a bit of a cultural difference between who is in these prisons. If you think that violent gang and cartel members would just chill in their little rooms you’re delusional.
