I have a blind friend who has to put out reminders every time one of these memes go around, it’s apparently very annoying. Pepsi is still a good place to work. Not perfect, but better than a lot out there . I worked for Pepsi 25/years. And people get angry when some out there cheat the system with their under the table jobs. The whole system fucking sucks and I’m actually kinda proud that some ppl found a loophole. I’m not saying it’s okay for people to depend on the government entirely if they aren’t struggling like a lot of other ppl in this country, but fuck that, healthcare should be either free or affordable to other ppl. If you insurance isn’t covering anything until you pay them hundreds, thousands of dollars, then that’s fucked up, what’s the point of it? Just a bunch of greedy rich ppl taking advantage of the rest. I was gonna respond with “but Dr Pepper is so much better!” as a joke (because…it is better…) but then I read the tweet’s reply and yikes…!!

But to be honest Pepsi probably has a lot of employees, so aren’t mistakes bound to happen? I work for them and they are the shit , best job I’ve ever had hands down , and everyone saying to UNIONIZE, we’re all teamsters Ok, I probably shouldn’t say anything, but in the interest of correctness (and not to protect Pepsi, since I’m sure they have done exactly this kinda shit before), but most bottling operations are run by separate companies – kinda like distributors. All the same, if Pepsi wants to be all “We’re a family, isn’t that swell?!” They should at minimum vet their key contractors for bullshit anti-worker policy/culture. Insurance shouldn’t be tied to employment, but under COBRA he should’ve been eligible for coverage up to 18 months of being let go. The word “family” is much overused in the customer/vendor marketing matrix. Everyone welcoming their customers to the family. Co workers are family. Etc.
