Corporate appropriation of the Utah! Get me two Classic T-Shirt it is in the first place but concept of family to make us feel like we’re a part of something. Only to them, we are nothing. Maybe the wrong topic for this, but I worked for PepsiCo Foods in Canada (factory that made Doritos, Corn Chips, SmartFood popcorn… All the corn-based foods really) and it seemed like a fantastic place to work. Huge emphasis on safety and doing things the right way to avoid injuries in the long term (veteran staff would always let me know about little ergonomic adjustments that didn’t seem all that important but would clearly make huge differences years down the line), great benefits, great starting pay and the ability to move up, flexible hours for students as well as work-studies if you were talking HR or management courses… And ridiculous discounts on the chips themselves if you wanted to buy them from the source.

With that said… I hated the Utah! Get me two Classic T-Shirt it is in the first place but job and only worked there for 6 months because I was just trying to save money to move to a bigger city. Factory jobs aren’t for everyone and I found it mind-numbing and always lamented the fact that it didn’t play to any of my actual strengths. I work in finance now and make more money in something that actually feels rewarding, but from my short experience, and the fact that all my co-workers seemed like lifers who had been with the company for 5, 10 or 15+ years… Pepsi seems like an incredible company to work for compared to most of the posts I see here. And despite being cishet I remember an emphasis on diversity training and general inclusion for queer and non-binary folks. Maybe it’s just a Canadian thing, but it of all the giant corporations I’ve worked for, they definitely treated people the best.
