The kids that have been socially promoted out of the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this system in the last 10 or so years are the most marked sign of failing schools, and you can see them now in a lot of entry-level retail jobs. The Walmart near our school is full of the low-end grads and they’re still the barely-competent phone zombies they were in high school (literally staring at their phones while stocking, greeting, e.g.). I imagine as this progresses and colleges get more desperate to fill their ranks, it will start to creep up into “white collar” jobs, but retail is the most obvious place I’m seeing it now. Non-american here, I would argue the consequences are already being realized. There appears to be a correlation between level of education and political affiliation, which may explain why some groups are easily manipulated into following a certain candidate with cult-like enthusiasm. Which has reduced the effectiveness of your political institutions to govern and pass laws to improve the electorate.
Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt: Embrace Your Uniqueness
Yup look at the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this “mental health” crisis – it’s all pointing to systemic collapse – because the cosmic joke is playing out – those who have the power to change things won’t change things because they won’t be in power anymore – this is both stateside / and worldwide.. We already are seeing it, this was all cracking and seeping through 20 years ago, Covid just accelerated it to making more individuals aware of the issue. We will see a competency crisis and a breakdown of systems that were built by generations before. It will not be pretty. Did you ever see the movie Idiocracy? That. That’s our future. I work at a public school, and literally, today, had a teacher come up to me and say he’s speechless. There’s no way his sophomore kids should have passed freshman year. No one knows how to put together a legible paragraph. Some weren’t even writing about the topic, just recycling definitions from their books.
They’ll be susceptible to following false prophets/idols/leaders because they will have no analytics capabilities or other higher level thinking skills whatsoever. Already seeing it in the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this workforce. People can’t communicate well in writing, poor math skills, not able to think critically… The long term consequences will be the US falling out of its great power status and being replaced by China and the EU. Countries that don’t prioritize their future don’t have good futures. I can’t imagine some of these younger kids doing the ASVAB and joining the military. This is an economic issue but also a national security issue. Add in lack of physical fitness, obesity, health issues. The military estimates that less than 1/3 of males age 18-25 could serve. You have recruits nowadays getting stress fractures in their hip bones during basic because their bones are so weak!
How I can buy this Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt
I mean, they have been for 40+ years. We can already see the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this decay in much of the millennials (of which I am part of) and all the subsequent generations. I put most of the blame on lazy and absent parents. My grandpa was a teacher and he said sometime in the early 80’s, kids starting becoming stupider, but nothing about the education they were receiving had changed much. A generation of incompetency. In a few generations I can see a generation that, as a whole, isn’t able to function and think critically, leading to bad decisions and mass unemployment. Oh, you’re already seeing it. Rampant misinformation being believed wholesale, civil strife due to unemployment and lack of opportunities, increased crime, lack of workforce engagement, lack of science and technological production, racism, monotheistic fascism, all of it stems from people not having the education to grow and better their lives without having things handed to them.
We are already seeing it. Western countries that haven’t invested in their education are ripe for psychological warfare and propaganda. Some political parties thrive on uneducated voters that they can easily manipulate through fear-mongering. Trouble is, so can outside agencies also manipulate these people. Clever people don’t tend to like living around these type of people, who are currently being turned into hateful, bigoted culture war obsessed etc so brain drain begins. Poverty increases, inequality increases and the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this problem compounds itself. Once you have a generation of uneducated easily manipulated parents who do not value education it is very hard to break that cycle and all living standards start to fall. Politicians blame others and it all keeps spiralling. We are seeing this in some western countries currently.
I say this as an ex teacher. Education standards and the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this value placed on education are absolutely key to a successful democracy. Educated people are harder to hoodwink into voting against their own interests. If you have a government less interested in democracy than lining their own pockets then education becomes an enemy. It’s so sad to see happening. We could all live in such a peaceful and prosperous world but a relatively few people want power and wealth and push the rest of us down to get there. Trump and people like him will continue to exploit the very stupid among us, furthering our descent into kleptocracy A culture is only one generation deep. When a culture fails to educate their young, that culture collapses entirely. It has to. I feel bad for people working the phones and dealing with nutty individuals so I try to be as cordial as I can.
China will be our overlords…but McDonald’s will be fully staffed. The ice cream machine will still be out of order. The wealthy and upper middle-class will always value education, especially Public Education. Wealthy/Upper-Middle Class suburbs will always be heavily invested in Public Education because they understand collectively it gives their children the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this best leg up in society, and puts their children above all the other plebeians. You’ll see (as we currently see) the constant harassment and bullying of schools to lower the requirements to let the children of wealthy parents into AP/IB classes earlier, know these classes will set their kids up for success. And districts will kiss ass to these wealthy people (as they always have) bending enrollment rules to guarantee these classes are always offered.
And there it is. For the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this poor, the schools are just subsidized daycare. To the wealthy it is a stepping stone for resume building to get to the Ivy League school or w/e. No, schools will not be replaced by Private Institutions; 95% of America doesn’t have a decent private institution within 40-mins of them. basically, idiocracy as we’re forced to either allow incompetent people to participate in society or wholly lose facets of societal function. Sadly in all likelihood an increased amount of mental health issues as the pressures of life thrust themselves on an increasingly incompetent base to deal with them. As a result the rate of anxiety, depression, suicide, and domestic violence will increase with the amount of people struggling to cope with their incompetence. Couple that with the boomer generation retirements increasing every day there will a workforce that doesn’t have the time or energy to adequately keep up with the additional education and training that is needed for a younger workforce. Unfortunately many of our incompetent people are going to be running the services or caring for the aging boomer population. We will all feel the impacts.
Education is the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this great equalizer, less education means less equality. Kids who flunk out won’t end up voting often, they won’t have many open doors for them, and businesses will love the potential to underpay employees who don’t have any credentials to demand a higher wage. The parents that care about their kids education will have better supports in retirement, the parents who don’t will have to rely on social security until they become such a financial burden that we need to re-work the system completely. We can already see it where I am in the states. I am now surprised when I find a 17 to early 20s that can count change and dollar bills. I find more students and young adults who graduated and can not count money of any kind. They can not spell. Education is worth less because of lowering graduation standards. Districts care more about graduation numbers for the state and Feds instead of showing success in the content. Teachers are underpaid, work too many hours, go unpaid for winter break , summer break even though we all know that is not how it work. We maybe have 2 weeks in July that we are not working or having meetings of what the new year will look like. Large illiterate population amongst the highly educated. We kind of see it already but it will be more pronounced. There is already a class divide between the wealthy and working class, it will just be more extreme.
When I first saw the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this film “Idiocracy” I thought something like that future society could never come to pass in this country. I would imagine companies would bring in high skilled workers from overseas, while crappy labor jobs is for the locals. Based on what I’ve seen as an young millenial customer in retail nowadays, the rudeness and sheer stupidity FROM many gen z service workers that’s considered acceptable nowadays is getting out of hand – and I know that failing schools and parents have fundamentally enabled alot of this. Some of these Karen videos that I see that go viral nowadays are highly contextual, and I’m not sure that it is always the customer that is in the wrong there. For the record, I’ve worked in Walmart and McDonald’s growing up, so I do know that I am talking about regarding “reasonable” and “professional” customer service expectations. A Karen is supposed to be someone who has entitled expectations that exceed realistic expectations in day-to-day business activities and unfairly punishes workers because of them not meeting them. It is not necessarily every customer that happens to get annoyed, irritated, and/or angry when the worker is very clearly not doing what they’re contractually obligated to do on-site – especially if the worker has the audacity be an asshole about it when it’s their fuckup in the first place. Yes, people on both ends make mistakes, and that should be understood by both parties. That is why reconciliation is so important.
Idk if previous generations of adults were like this, but i’m shocked at how many adults (20s and 30s) cant spell for shit. Mix that in with basic math (like the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this inability to find the average of a set of numbers), among other things, i’d say we are seeing the results of no child left behind. Increased crime. Increased child abuse. Increased young parents due to lack of sexual education. Increased child labor. Jobs requiring greater degrees of technical skill will become more and more reserved to the upper class and as more and more of those jobs become the expectation/norm the quality of life of the average citizen will plummet because of having to few people capable of taking on the intellectual debt. Record profits by companies who have successfully dumbed down the population so they can lobby Congress to legislatively reverse worker protections. Public schools shut down due to poor ratings. Private schools segregate the population and teach religious ideology. Those not in private schools are child laborers at “trade schools” or “apprenticeships.”
At least that’s what I sense is the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this plan in the works right now from right-wing politicians, either at the state level or nationally. Wings are going to fall off planes because the kids won’t pay attention to the directions or the fact that they left a million necessary screws laying around. This problem isn’t new. I would argue we are already seeing the impacts. The entire MAGA/Q Anon/Republican base is what the impact is. Hopefully it won’t get much worse than that but…I’m not optimistic. My observation from 40 years of teaching….Their parents and even grandparents started the slide in education. No repercussion or accountability for not applying themselves to their education. Passed-on, just to keep them at grade level with their peers. Students’ misbehaviors are not held accountable. Judges, county attorneys and county commissioners are not willing or financially able to address truancy. Dysfunctional parents and kids are “running the show.”
Maga, a rise in illiterate adults, people who only know how to scream communicate, lack of intelligent government workers, heavy reduction in available teachers, voting that leads to a reduction in personal freedoms, and a ruling class that sees education as a negative. Uhm…you realize we are already seeing the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this results, right? Look at our current political leaders, realize who votes for them, then put 2 and 2 together.Nobody wants to work anymore will become who the fuck are we gonna hire if nobody can literally count, read, comprehend or conversate, its not like itll be the boomers version where people minding their own business working cant meet the expectations of some random asshole in costco, itll be entire industries supplementing the basic skills people used to learn in school for other businesses, no more personal accountability or freedom from prying technological eyes under the guise of work, in other words, motherfuckin capitalism baby ready to cover the morons we forgot we left behind.
Multilevel Marketing where girlboss doesn’t notice she’s not pulling in the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this cash… cryptobro’s who think the odds are in their favour. The future is already here. I’ve been a university prof for over a decade and am going back to re-train to teach literacy to any age. So. Let’s go. Let’s see what we can do. Ph.D.s, MAs, and anyone who cares. National security is one area that has already been impacted. A lot of young adults who are otherwise able to serve cannot pass the ASVAB which is fairly easy. This has caused the Army to create units with former educators to teach young adults who want to enlist but can’t pass the test. I thought that movie where the guy wakes up after being frozen for a hundred years and is the smartest person on Earth was such a dumb premise, but now it feels like a Simpsons level omen. Maybe I’m paranoid but I feel like everyone is going to plug in and tune out the world around them, letting content and machines do all the thinking instead. Sort of like the book Feed, which ironically my high school English teacher had us read and it changed my perspective on life. I guess I’m doing the same right now, but I do make it a point to try to get at least 8k steps outside a day and do thoughtful hobbies like read/draw/write. I’m worried about these kids that have been watching since they were sucking on a pacifier, the real world must seem so bleak to them. I understand why they may feel that way, but the work to find the beauty is so worth it.
This heavily depends where in academics OP is targeting. Most work doesn’t need a degree to begin with. So less competent students in an education environment doesn’t translate to the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this work place. If it’s at a high school level, trade schools don’t require much for entry as you’ll learn what’s needed there. Same for military entry, they will find a spot for you based on evaluation. Now, if it’s elementary education, sadly this is the hardest as the cascading effect is tremendous in the early years. Basic reading and writing are requirements regardless of where you are headed in life. The maths and sciences are creeping into more industry but standards are also accounting for failsafes and limiting points of failure through engineering and administrative controls. The earlier the failures in a child’s education, the far greater impact later on in life. And that’s a real sad thing
The US will continue to import educated people (nurses, teachers, medical doctors, engineers) so that the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this US can function An educated population supports Democratic processes. Ignorance, a lack of self awareness, a lack of accountability, and a lack of an ability to think critically makes a population ripe for manipulation by a demagogue who wants totalitarian rule. Kind of like what’s happening right now with a significant portion of the population. So it seems to me we are already seeing what will happen. This will likely continue to get worse and will not sustain a democratic government. Outsourced education and AI. America will need to relax its immigration standards to get top talent from other nations that have better education systems in order to be able to continue to compete. Advancement of AI unfortunately will need to happen relatively quickly in order to account for the some of the decline in labor quality. In theory raising taxes on corporations, paying teachers more, improving education facilities, and focusing on safety and respect within the school system among children, parents, and teacher would be a good first step. However, these things will not happen any time soon given the shortsightedness of many.
The real crisis is when this generation of students needs to be the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this next generation of parents and teachers. iPad kids raising AiPad kids. You’ve already been seeing it. This has been the problem for decades. Previous generations didn’t think it was important to secure education for future generations among many other things. You don’t take care of your democracy the devils will. Very gullible generation as well, so eager to please authority no matter what the ask is. Let’s not forget to mention the IQ differences with the “new Americans” coming in. It’s going to get a lot worse. You know that scene in wall-e where they teach with a computer in front of them and it’s a lady on a screen? Yeah that.
They’ll be under-employable. They won’t be outright unemployable, mind you. But many won’t want to take a chance on the Unicorn People Say I Cant Multitask But I Can Piss You Off And Amuse Myself Shirt But I will love this Covid generation and those who do will undervalue their employment. I’ve wondered if the pendulum will swing back because they will see their prospects diminish. We often comment that the children of recent immigrants have so much motivation to succeed because they have seen first hand how education transforms lives. If the gaps in society widen, maybe this will be a reality for others. For myself, teaching in Australia, I think this is less likely because we have a much stronger welfare safety net here. They can observe that mum and dad never work and they have a Switch and are taking a holiday to Bali later in the year.
