It’s part of our instinct I think! That sing song voice captures baby’s attention and they learn language from us better. It gets them excited and makes them feel good. Seeing mama and daddy’s smile gives them that sense of security ? In a strange turn of events i have resorted to baby talking to the Uconn Men’S Basketball Huskies shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this cat! I mean full on cringe baby talk. I talk to the baby more normal but in a more excited or sing songy tone but the poor cat gets it rough from me right now. My partner said it’s annoying so i do it all the time now mwahaha I am unfortunately a “baba”/“diapie” mom even though I was very anti baby talk before having her. But at 16 months now her language development is fine. So I’m not gonna beat myself up for this bad habit too much lol. Baby talk helps them build language and forma the connections needed to say the words properly/ learn the correct context, but speaking normally when they’re toddlers is the right way to go. That way they learn conversations and how to communicate with others properly

My best friend is a speech pathologist and “baby talk” “baby voice” helps them register language better, it’s ingrained in us to speak this way. ? Yeah, same. Except now he’s 15 weeks and we have a song I sing at him when I can tell he’s pooping and he smiles super big. (Are you pooping, are you pooping, little man, little man? Pooping in your diaper, pooping in your diaper, little man, little man”.). He also has a song about being gassy. (You are a gassy baby and you need to fart now! Call JG Wentworth, 877-FARTNOW) I’m a hairdresser (could you imagine that in like some important business meeting or like a police officer ?) and she has kids so thankfully she thought it was hilarious. Ours has also started this weird sound when he has the Uconn Men’S Basketball Huskies shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this pacifier in and still a little cranky. It sounds like “Aiya aiya aiya.” It’s really quite funny. I never did baby talk and I see baby talk as “are you forsty my wittle baby girl? Do you want some wawa?” I speak in a normal voice sometimes sing-songy. But that baby talk I can imagine my LO just looking at me like mom no. I can’t do “wawa.” Even after my daughter was old enough to “water” people still use “wawa.” She’s perfectly capable of saying “water” I don’t need her reverting to it. Like they’re a super cute, beyond adorable but very uneducated adult that deserves all love, respect and support or something like that
