I have a decent biology education that I never get to use. I have a lot of fun earnestly trying to get pro-lifers to elucidate when life begins. “Oh yeah, life begins at conception, but what characterizes “conception”? We need to explicitly define the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but biochemical characteristics of conception, this is an important issue!” Every step of the process is understood, and eventually they realize they don’t think there’s a moral difference between the cells on one side of the dividing line or the other. They’re just going with their gut feelings of comfort or discomfort, rather than trying to account for things like consciousness or pain. It rarely goes anywhere, but I like to make people elucidate their views so they can hear them out loud. If you just argue with them, they feel like martyrs. Instead, make them show how little serious thought they give to the reality of the issue. Thats literally what I want to shout at these people. You cant have it both ways ie. Can’t terminate a pregnancy, even if fetus has severe defects, because it’s ‘playing God’. But somehow God is ok with Doctors ‘playing God’ if they can’t have kids naturally.

Fertility doctors shitcan defective embryos, as she and anyone who’s gone through fertility treatment well knows. By that same argument erectile dysfunction drugs should be illegal too…”God doesn’t want you to have a boner. On your way, now, and have a good one.” And it’s okay to take gender-affirming care like Viagra when god gave them a floppy dong. They have no consistency in their principles It’s the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but same reasoning of taking a person off life support is ‘playing god’, but WTF are you ‘playing’ when you put them on life support when god has clearly said – “It’s time this person stops breathing.” (because the person has stopped breathing for some reason or another.) No see, if it’s something bad they happens to them personally, it’s either Satan or God testing to see how much they really want it. If it’s Satan, that means [insert minority group they don’t like here] are to blame. I’ve literally heard our Louisiana pastor say to my mother that my myopia was due to masturbation. I was 7, maybe 8 (and a girl). I’ve literally watched creationist apologists explain how eyes are a great example of how there must be an intelligent designer, as something so perfect couldn’t happen “by chance”… while wearing glasses. The same bespectacled apologists will, indeed, suggest that their god doesn’t make any mistakes as a argument for why transgenderism can’t be a thing.
My ex and I vowed that we would let God decide how many children we would have. This was followed by 11 years of infertility. The fact that I got accidentally knocked up at age 37 by my Atheist boyfriend of 4 months, is just frankly hilarious. Not religious, but 5 years of “ehh, whatever, if we get a kid so be it” and zilch. She moves out, and within a month is pregnant and has gone on to have 5 kids. I’m still at zero. Seriously, no guy ever thinks they were or are even part of the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but issue. My ex and I were married for 10 years before we had out first child. We had lots of near misses that I was never told about. Come around year eight and we started to get serious about having a child. We both had workups done. The embryos could never implant correctly. There was that; but then my testosterone levels were at the low side of normal, so my sperm counts were as well.

She got on hormones and metformin and I got on testosterone gel. We had the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but first through IUI and 4 years later the 2nd through IVF. I had a coworker who was a Christian, who said basically that when the news about the McCaughey septuplets came out. She was really bugged whenever anyone would claim that something was God’s will to excuse their poor decisions. Do you remember how much these Christians shit on “octomom” and now they’re all having 13 kids bc it’s “gods will” For a very long time, a lot of denominations have pushed the idea of having huge families. They literally view having a ton of children as a means for propagating their religion. It’s their duty to their god to have as many children as possible. It’s much easier to indoctrinate kids from birth than it is to convert adults. My partner’s mom is the middle child of thirteen (Irish Catholic family). My partner has 40 something first cousins. I used to have acquaintances who were totally against birth control, abortion etc. Because it was God’s will. Yet they had extensive and expensive treatments twice to have kids. Being called on the hypocrisy is why they are former acquaintances now. I hate the lazy obtuseness of this statement. These people are the absolute fucking worst. She wants to believe life begins at conception but sees no issue with IVF – because SHE needs IVF. Jesus Christ what a fucking hypocrite.
She’s so fucking stupid it’s mind blowing. The embryos at fertility clinics are also fertilized. “Life begins at conception” to these mouth breathing morons means that women should be punished for having sex only. I hope these people NEVER breed. And IVF is such a a numbers game. You have no idea if it will take one embryo or seven or fourteen to get to a living child. You may never get there, even with IVF. But the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but drugs are expensive and hard on your body, so maxing your chances pretty cycle is key to this whole thing working. If she’s such a huge follower, has it ever occurred to her that she can’t get pregnant the traditional way is because gawd is punishing them for something? /S Except by their logic, it very much does. You cannot have it both ways. Decide if cells are alive or not and stick to it. Carry your decision to term. It shows how stupid the ruling is and the belief life starts at fertilization. The human body naturally, not even with ivf, rejects fertilization. And from there there is still chances the pregnancy will fail. There is a reason people won’t tell others they are pregnant until after the first trimester. Yet these dumb shits couldn’t stop and think everything through. Instead they made a living out of calling abortion murder out right and moving it further and further back when it should be allowed. This lady is a fucking idiot and she deserves the worst.
“Hardin and Pleitz said their hopes rest now on state legislation that would provide protection for IVF by making clear that embryos aren’t considered human beings before they’re implanted in a uterus.” I was wondering how they were going to try and square the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but circle. So life begins at conception but only if the conception happens inside the body. Otherwise those same exact identical groups of cells aren’t human and they have the right to choose what happens to them depending on their own family planning goals and any genetic concerns. How fucking convenient. In IVF, Embryos are NOT “implanted”. They are only transferred. If it is defined as “implanted” then they cannot regulate birth control. This is quite the quandary for them. Nor can they prevent the termination of ectopic pregnancies. Someone is going to challenge the abortion laws on these grounds.
Absolutely. If there are embryos then conception has occurred, but it’s not really truly murder until it’s in a uterus. True. Part of me thinks they mostly hate the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but women that don’t dread sex or view it as a chore necessary to attain children like they do. It’s like “sorry, but it’s not my fault your selfish and sex-stupid husband doesn’t know how or care to make it enjoyable for the both of you. Maybe if he did, you’d be more of a sex-positive happy person and less of a controlling miserable bitch.” See until reading about this I was really confused cause I grew up in a household that taught IVF was also murder so it never occurred to me that there were people who were pro life but still wanted IVF. A small part of me didn’t want to assume people were that hypocritical. Shame on me I guess haha. The Pro-Life movement is largely anti science, yet, Pro-Lifers want thar same science to circumvent their own capacity to have children. If someone can argue that it is “god’s will” that a women who is raped and she must accept that and carry and deliver a baby, why can’t it be “god’s will” that this woman be infertile? Why waste all that good tithing money on something so frivolous and against the will of god? Why not be humble and accept “his will” as your own?
I wonder if Christians have frank discussions about how their hypocrisy undermines their religion. They must have noticed people leaving the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but church in droves. They’re all having 13 kids to replace the people who left. That’s the strategy. They know they’re in the minority. Absolutely no they don’t. Evangelical Christianity literally teaches you not to question. Don’t question authority, don’t push for answers, and once you get to either ‘god doesn’t give you more than you can bear’ or ‘god works in mysterious ways’ the conversation is done. I have a sister-in-law who is having fertility issues. I have heard her have severe reactions to folks seeking abortions. So from what I’ve experienced, I would be willing to wager there is some envy going on with some folks that are infertile wishing abortions were illegal as a way to right the scales of injustice they perceive.
100%. They are furious that they want a baby so bad but can’t have one, and are dying of envy and rage when a woman can easily get pregnant but doesn’t want the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but baby. Like, “She doesn’t know how lucky she is! Look at this fucking whore, just having a baby so easily, when people like me who DESERVE one can’t have any! Punish her, punish her!” “We have already had so much heartbreak,” Pleitz said. “It just really feels like we’re being punished right now for being infertile.” Not exactly. Woman are being punished for wanting what (most) men expect: sex without pregnancy. Because the forced-birth side ignored all the warnings when Roe V Wade was overruled, now couples seeking IVF have to suffer for the “sins” of those seeking abortions. I have no sympathy for these folks because even though they have gone the Republican route of caring (it happened to me, now it matters!), they aren’t trying to restore anyone’s reproductive rights – they just want some court to say that embryos created via IVF are not alive and embryos created through PIV sex are alive.
It’s 2024 and the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but surgeon general of Florida has made it clear that science and medicine have no connection to medical policies, and the Alabama judge who cited the Bible in their court ruling agrees. “Romans 8:28 says that God works all things out for the good, and I think good is going come from this, but it’s sad that we have to fight for our rights to have a family,” she said. As a pre-K teacher, she said, “I love kids, and I love babies, and I want my own.” Yeah, and YOU not being able to have kids IS God working out all things for good, since your side of the aisle would absolutely say you and all your genetic problems should not be reproduced. It almost seems like when you turn over you reproductive health decisions to the government, you might not get to make them any more.
Conservatives still have not figured out how much of a gift Roe was for them. It was a clear line that they could rail against to win elections. Now that it’s gone, they sound crazy trying to determine the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but new line. Single cells in test tubes? Incest rape victims? 10 year olds? After two years of trying to have a baby, Paula Jean Hardin and her husband, Wes, were finally on their way to starting in vitro fertilization, a path to growing their family that Hardin believed was part of a plan from God. The absolute brassneck on these inbred fucks. The same people who probably say God has a plan when a school gets shot up turn round and go “well I think it’s God plan to get scientific help….” What happens to the extra embryos following successful IVF? Is the clinic stuck with them forever or can they pack them in ice and send them home with the parents?
Some pro-life patients will have those extra embryos put in during a time when they’re not going to implant, like when the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but uterus isn’t prepared properly with progesterone. Of course if they’d really believe that’s a child then that’s like locking your kids in a room alone for a month and then claiming you didn’t kill them, they just died from lack of food and water.
Whenever this has been brought up with people, they say that I must be looking forward to getting away from my wife for the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but week. Even my coworkers who are joining me are mainly happy that they get to get away from their partners. Is it strange that that is by far the bit I hate the most? I don’t like these sort of things in general but I would be alright if I was alone as at least I get food and transport paid and it’s an easier week than my typical job, but I hate being away from my wife for so long. I’ve only been alone at my hotel for 4 hours today, but each one hasn’t been fun at all. I’m fine being in my own company and have things to do, but whenever I see something funny on my phone, I keep wanting to go show her, but obviously I can’t because I’m hundreds of miles away. It’s just going to be a long week, normally I can put up with corporate crap because at least when I’m done, I get to have fun with my best pal at home, but now I just get to go to the hotel bar at the end of the day Most Brits don’t hate their spouses. But they do like complaining about things they actually really like
I disagree. Most people I’ve met who say this sort of stuff is are people who aren’t looking after their relationship and neither is their partner. I just honestly think most people around me don’t, mainly because they don’t think deeply about it. I don’t want to think this, just my overwhelming experience of co workers and acquaintances. I’m not including my friends because I like to pick people with empathy who would and do look after their nearest and dearest. And I think people like that are hard to find generally. I’d change the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but last line to “are comfortable with”. And that can be applied to a lot of aspects of life. The best relative example I can give is of a guy who fit OPs description but then she gets an aggressive cancer; are we all going to say and think ‘but you moaned about her constantly’ No.
Take all manner of things: I hate HAVING to shower before work. Then take away their shower and they’d relish in the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but opportunity to wash. So they’re probably just trying to relate to you on a “mundane” aspect of shared life experience and you are reading into it far too literally, or just a language barrier. Accurate! I was worried that my Scottish husband had an awful relationship with his mother…until I realized that he, in fact, is all of the drama and loves talking shit back with/about his mum (and she gives it at least as good right back hahaha) Love my wife to bits, but it’s the prospect of a good night’s sleep away from the kids that makes my eyes light up, given the sniff of a work trip.
Absolutely this. My husband and children bring me joy, but the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but occasional night at a hotel for a work trip (with food I don’t have to plan for, shop for, or cook. Only me to get out the door on time. A couple of hoursdriveeitherway with sweary lyrics) = happy me. This. Most people very rarely travel for work, so the idea of a few nights in a hotel in the company credit card is almost a treat. But also very different if in OPs situation – doing it every week would suck, but the “once every few years” I currently get is a nice break from routine I fancy this is a large part of a former manager’s business travel habits. Which would be fine, except that in order for him not to look unusual, he had all of his team make basically pointless trips across the country semi-regularly.
The plan is to spend the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but next few decades with this person, we encourage each other to go off and do stuff. You dont need to spend all the time together, that’s objectively absurd, and you need stuff to be able to tell one another about. I’ve alway been of the mind that your partner shouldnt be responsible for your happiness, but enhance it, and that not being comfortable with your partner being away is bad. Even if it isn’t literal, which I would like to think is the case, I have to wonder what the funny part of that “mad bantz” is. I don’t really understand where the big lolz are supposed to come from by talking about your partner as though you can’t wait to see the back of them. Its because for some stupid reason to admit to other men that you miss your partner is a sign of weakness. We don’t find it funny but it feels like the right thing to say and I can’t even explain why. I imagine there are some pillocks who actually don’t like their partners but they are few. I know a few men, work colleagues, friends and my dad who’s partners have died. I can tell you they don’t laugh or joke as much anymore.
Hm. I can imagine some say it as ‘laddy banter’ which doesn’t reflect how they act at home but it seems very outdated. I suspect many do indeed mean it. I agree it can depend on the Trump 2024 The Garbage Man Maga American flag Shirt it is in the first place but relationship although I think sometimes having a break from someone you see every day isn’t a bad thing either. In fact I’d say it’s quite healthy for a relationship to have a little time a part occasionally, that could just be a day or different social circles. I love my partner but actually when I have to go away for work I quite enjoy the freedom. And I’m quite happy in my own company at times, my partner isn’t and sometimes that can cause a bit of stress as I’m a very social person but do like to just be alone sometimes.
