Honestly I just assume these stories happen in bigger cities. I dash in a smaller town and haven’t had any issues luckily! 1: Creepy people exist. Creepy people see dashing as an easy way to be fuckin creepy and get paid for it. What it boils down to is Door Dash doesn’t really ask for references or check previous work history. They do a criminal background check. Aka, if a person hasn’t been criminally convicted for being a creepy motherfucker, they can be a door dasher no problem. 2: Tip baiting. Very few dashers are actually giving it their all anymore because we’re all aware that we could end up going above & beyond, and end up with no tip and being paid basically $2 for 30+ minutes of our time (depending on the Toronto Maple Leafs Ice Hockey Est 1917 T-Shirt so you should to go to store and get this restaurants) 3: On the topic of restaurants, in my area it’s a two-way street. I can’t speak for any other areas obviously but here I’ve personally been told to “get a real fucking job & stop being lazy” directly after saying “Hi! I’m here for a door dash order for -insert name here-” by an employee working the register. It’s also worth mentioning that this occurred at a McDonalds in my area that literally none of the door dashers here have ANY positive things to say about. We’re talking over an hour wait times for someone to even acknowledge your presence standing at the counter and other instances of employees just being rude at best & cruel at worst.

4: As for running out of gas, I personally could believe it. Thanks to inflation and door dash corporate refusing to pay their dashers anything close to a reasonable amount, it’s not too farfetched. Definitely not too farfetched if someone happens to work door dash as a full-time job with no other income. For example, I’ll throw together two profit vs loss reports each month just for my personal reference, one pre-tax and one post-tax and even in a fuel-efficient car, the Toronto Maple Leafs Ice Hockey Est 1917 T-Shirt so you should to go to store and get this end number is typically negative and that’s BEFORE factoring taxes. Don’t even get me started on the report post-tax. End point is it’s hard to know what to blame specifically, like others have motioned in this thread. Inflation or corporate greed? Who knows. My vote is it’s both.
