I think one of my videos is getting people to listen to my podcasts…? Which was always a goal but not one that I expected to come to fruition. Just get better every upload. Some you think that was a poor effort and get lots of I interaction, other you will put it all into and get nothing. I pushed out my 3rd video and it’s almost got 100 views and people finally commenting and had great things to say. Such a morale boost. It definitely can be a wild ride. It’s good knowing that about yourself so you can identify when it’s a positive thing and when it’s causing a struggle. Trust me, when your videos fail you won’t be able to stop thinking about them, either. YouTube can easily become a toxic obsession on either end of the spectrum if you’re not careful. I was on the dopamine high for the first few years but have been on a major depressive side for the last. I know I need to quit my channel now because its so not worth the mental turmoil but because of all those years of the dopamine high its hard to walk away from it now. I have 80k subs and am depressed as hell. I follow a lot of channels that have around the 50k to 80k subs and they’re my favourites because they tend to be more relatable. You grow to love that person and feel like you know them. A few did suddenly stop at this point mainly because they felt like they were running out of content but I would have been happy watching the same old, same old and it was mortifying to see them go. I always hope one day they’ll choose to come back. It’s like, of millions of channels I choose you… please don’t go. So maybe have a chat with your subs about it. Maybe if they knew you weren’t getting the views etc they’d share your channel more. That’s really sweet, thanks for sharing that! The only reason I’m still doing it is for the few who still seem to enjoy the content. But I have to put my own mental health first. I have 80.5 k and am getting, like, 2k views on average now (used to be around 300k) . It’s been a downward trajectory for over two years now, and nothing I do is bringing them up. I’ve watched probably hundreds of new channels in my exact genre just start and get tons of views and can’t keep bashing my head against the wall about what I’m doing wrong.
