I interrupted two people trying to set a pub on fire early in the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt What’s more,I will buy this morning once and someone I worked with at the time, went to the pub, told them it was him and got a free drink. A few years back I was in Ibiza, having a few beers during the day. This was when you could hear music every where, it’s not like that now. There was about 8 of us, and I was talking about the music, I said that Ibiza has its own heartbeat, and that is what the music represents. My mum used to do it, if it were a particularly interesting or funny anecdote. We just went along with it and laughed. I once told a work colleague about a NSFW situation involving me preparing a spicy romantic meal for my girlfriend using fresh chillies and then the not so romantic after party because I couldn’t get all the Chilli off my hands.

He’ll do more than look you in the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt What’s more,I will buy this eye but actively prompt you to agree and chip in on the story. I genuinely also think he starts to believe his own story. Sometimes I’ll tell someone something and later they think that it was their memory or thought. I wonder whether they are the kind of people stage hypnotists would find particularly suggestible? My sisters are identical twins and if I’m telling one of them a piece of news or giving an update I’ll get déjà vu like feelings and I have to clarify whether I’ve already told them or the other twin lol This reminds me of the first episode of Fifteen Storeys High where Vince retells his colleague’s story of meeting the Wombles on Jim’ll Fix it. My ex-wife does this. I pulled her up on it, and she stopped. Well, she stopped doing it in front of me I later found out. Not me, but one of my housemates. He’d told a story to us that he’d read online, about some guy in the US charged with statutory rape, who was able to prove he believed the girl to be over 18 by having photographed the fake ID he’d shown. One of the other people around was a girl who was already known for being an outrageous liar, and a couple of weeks later she was telling the same story to me and my housemate, only this time it was her brother. We honestly couldn’t tell if she’d forgotten who told her that story or if she just didn’t care. I just muttered ‘how odd that that happened to you AND my mum…’ as I sipped my beer and absolutely did not cause a scene because stiff upper lip
I knew a girl back when I was at uni (we weren’t really friends) who stole a story she’d heard from me literally a couple of days beforehand and told everyone in the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt What’s more,I will buy this pub it had happened to her, I couldn’t believe it. It was too specific to be a coincidence too, it was about growing up believing that there are no white lines on country roads because sheep ate them. My Dad used to do that. He would embellish a bit, then forget where he heard the story. I once had to stop him midway through a tale and remind him that I had told him that story a few months earlier. I went to university with a very peculiar girl who lacked social skills and had mad Dolores Umbridge vibes (like saccharin sweet with a bit of dead-behind-the-eyes going on). We were all sat in a kitchen in one of the halls chatting and I told a story about how my mum was told by her grandad that there were no white lines on country roads because the sheep ate them. She only questioned the veracity of this information as she was repeating it to a car full of her mates as they drove to a country pub as young people (Lolz). Not two days later I was sat in a group in a pub with Dolores and a few others, when she starts to regale the crowd with this hilarious story about how she was told as a child that there were no white lines…. And repeated my anecdote verbatim, only subbing in herself as the main character. She even made eye contact with me and didn’t break stride. I didn’t know what to do. It was the oddest situation!

I was in the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this pub with friends once and one of them said there were no white lines on country roads because sheep ate them. She had literally heard me tell the story days before! I remember once right, fella jumped off the top diving board, then someone jumped off the middle board, they both landed on the spring board and went back up to the top board. At least you can top her stolen anecdote with this tale about the stolen anecdote. Unless of course this is itself is a stolen tale about a plagiarised anecdote, in which case someone will have to mention that the whole thing was ripped off from Reddit. A few jobs ago, I used to come into work on a Monday and tell people the story of what happened to me at the weekend. I used to go to a lot of parties and get myself into amusing situations.
My old boss tells these at company events but now he is promoted to the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this main character, and I’m demoted to an imbecile. He retains the vague outline of what happened, but because he wasn’t there for it, he makes up the rest. I’ve watched the evolution of these stories over the years, and now they’re just ridiculous things that could never have happened, but I’m still implicated in the imaginary events as I’m in the story. I actually used the phrase “You’ve stolen my gimp story” to a uni housemate as he was telling the exact same story I’d told to the exact same group of people a couple of weeks before. A Scottish bloke comes over to me and asks if we sold under water bulbs. I ask him to elaborate, like do you want them to put in a fish tank or ponnd or summat. He kept saying no and repeating “under water bulbs”. Long story short after much confusion, it transpired that he was asking for 100 watt(er) bulbs. luckily he saw the funny side. I told a particular coworker about it and shared a laugh.
Fast forward to about 2 years ago, said ex colleague who I remained friends with told me this story, with him as the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this main character. Yes, and I’ve stolen them too, but only when doing tour guide type work. It’s good to work funny stories into the script, and they work best when told ‘first hand’ so we constantly borrowed anecdotes from eachother. They were both in the army at the same time but completely different regiments. It so happens this friend ‘Pat’ was deployed to Iraq the exact same time as my brother, to the exact same location. A couple of weeks into their respective tours, Pat’s mother has a huge heart attack. I arrange for another army friend to drive to the airbase to pick him up (3 hours each way) as I didn’t drive and we dropped him at the hospital doors, luckily his mother recovered and he went back to Iraq.
Meanwhile, my brother had been moved to a post that was so relentlessly attacked that they rotated the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this troops every 2 weeks Brother is on the roof on sentry when he sees a convoy coming in the distance. Truck goes boom. A couple of hours later my brother gets a message to say that Pat had been driving the vehicle that was blown up. He’s sent back home with his wounds and shrapnel all in his spine, so again myself and my dad this time drive about 4 hrs to see him in a military hospital. First it was silly stuff, like stealing my cousin’s story about doing the ouija board in the basement of an old victorian pub. Then one Sunday afternoon, we was in the local. Pat is just starting to walk again. He starts to regale this story about how upon hearing about his mother’s heart attack, pulled a pistol on his commanding officer because he wasn’t going to let him home and then the officer miraculously changed his mind. He said the CO was so scared of him that when he landed back in the UK they had a helicopter waiting for him that dropped him on the roof of the hospital. Where (verbatim) he ran to the ward and screamed, “WHERE’S MY MOTHEERRRR!!!” all the while telling these people, “It’s true!, isn’t it *malificent?” And looking at me in all dead pan seriousness to back up his claims Oh and the explosion? He said that he was blown from the vehicle entirely and came under heavy fire. He claimed he was prepared to die in that moment but a brave soldier ran over and started dragging him by one arm across the floor to cover. While his other arm was left free to scream and side point and shoot his pistol at the attackers as he’s being dragged off. My brother spoke to the people who were there. This was another lie. He was crying and screaming for help and practically fainted. Which is obviously a more realistic response .
Met alot of liars for sure… definetly met some neer do wells fishing for information by trying to project the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this narrative they’ve heard about me onto there own circumstanses to illicit some kinda commoradery/mirror effect. Its gross. Like to say tricky tricky in a dumb, frustrating situation… stole that from an old friend. I mis remembered my sister’s story as my own, re a useless teacher at secondary school. She’s 3 years above me but it’s experiences with that teacher are similar but I had completely forgotten that that one thing was her story not mine. Silly really. I told a story quite often (can’t be repeated here as will maybe give identity away) that involved me, and had it repeated back TO ME by a guy but subbed himself in to the story instead of me. That was the last I ever bothered with him after that. He was a compulsive liar. Known for telling lies constantly, and for no reason. Literally could never believe a thing that came out of his mouth.
Needless to say when he told me his “story” immediately I recognised it, and he recognised that I recognised it, and I recognised that he recognised that I recognised it… We were both travelling in a car, alone. There was a very awkward silence. But strangely, although it was so damn odd I wasn’t even that surprised. Right, I’ll tell you an anecdote. In 1974 I was catching the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded; I found myself in a last-minute rush for the one remaining seat beside a tall, good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies; buckaroo! I looked up and saw it was none other than Peter Purves, it was the height of his Blue Peter career. He said, “You jammy bastard” and quick as a flash, I replied, “Don’t be blue, Peter!” Needless to say, I had the last laugh, now f**k off!
I don’t even like repeating my own jokes and stories to a group if there is someone present who I have told before. Whenever we remove content we are trying to keep the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this subreddit neat, tidy and a pleasure for everyone to use. Please do not take offence if we have curated your post; it’s not personal.

Has this ever happened to you? Has anyone ever stolen your anecdote?I made a bunch of flash games when I was a kid and eventually got sponsored by one of the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this big online game sites. When this happened my friend always wanted to get in on it and would offer to think of ideas for me in exchange for half of the money but I didn’t exactly need an ideas man so I refused to ever involve him and all of his ideas were pretty terrible anyway. Today he tells people that me and him made all of the games I made on my own together with him and I actually think in his head he believes it. I have a game with a flash interface that’s been redundant since flash got cancelled everywhere (internet hasn’t been the same since IMO).
Do you make games on another platform now, or have you given up? I keep having fantasies about reigniting the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this flame of my old game. Yeah I make my games in GameMaker these days. Reasonably powerful tool and I like that I can export them to browser like the old days. I gave up on trying to make a proper career in game development ages ago and just approach it as a hobby now. My stuff is up here https://chris.newgrounds.com/ if you want to check out the kinds of things it can do. Everything from 2023 onwards is GameMaker. There’s a site called itch.io that has captured a lot of the feel of the old flash game sites, I think it mainly uses HTML5 for browser games. Its all HTML5 now as Flash is long dead. It still exists as animation software (called Animate now) but the Flash player is discontinued. There is Ruffle which is a flash emulator some sites use to stay alive and some sites such as Newgrounds have developed their own flash emulator they’re rolling out across old entries but in general browser gaming is all HTML5 now. That said a lot of modern engines will output to the format. How about we just turn the background of the subreddit into a giant green naan bread just to confuse the heck out of people who aren’t in the loop When my friends and I re-tell stories from our past, I have one friend who will insert himself into every story as we’re telling them as if he witnessed the events, even though he wasn’t there, to the point where he has been trying to gaslight us into believing he went to the same school as my friends and I. He also has a habit of claiming “I loaned you that” whenever you show off something cool. He’s the reason I haven’t had a house party as I’m positive he’ll try and steal my shit in front of everyone under the guise that it’s “his”. Years ago, when I was backpacking across Western Europe, I was just outside Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo.
Yes, I remember telling this weird girl this anecdote about the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this reason there were no white lines on country roads was because the sheep ate them, just a couple of days later she repeats it back as if it happened to her, while I was present. That’s odd. I remember telling this weird girl this anecdote about the reason there were no white lines on country roads was because the sheep ate them, just a couple of days later she repeats it back as if it happened to her, while I was present. Looking me in the eye. Not mine but at a funeral my family member told an anecdote/joke about his dad, only for the vicar to pipe up, you stole the joke i told you. Imagine spending so little time with your dad that the only anecdote you had was stolen from the vicar It’s completely standard for vicars at funerals to have to change what they are going to say because the family pre-empt them – even when the family have specifically asked them to say those things! I can’t imagine ever correcting someone like that!
I can imagine he was laughing to be honest, his son is a prick and was only concerned about what he could get money wise, when he saw he had nothing he was nowhere to be seen In a spirit of devilment, I once made up an anecdote about someone pretty obsure, but notable enough to have a Wikipedia page, and put it on wikipedia. His OWN SON took the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this anecdote, and put it in the biography he was writing about his dad (which is great, as I now have an independent published citation for the anecdote). It also appeared in the Sunday papers a couple of times in articles about the dad. Perfect! Interestingly, the anecdote has now come true, as it stated “Group X calls something Y” so once the idea entered the public domain and became reasonably notorious in a very narrow field, group X did indeed start calling that thing Y. A childhood mate of mine (B) stole an anecdote about a “legendary night out” of mine. I don’t particularly remember the night out now, but basically me and another mate (A) drunkenly got on the wrong train home, got off in a random town and caught a taxi home. Anyway this mate had apparently co-opted my anecdote, internalised it to the point where he fully believed it. Then, B told me and A the tale about his legendary night out. I pointed out that it was my night out and A backed me up. I watched B’s brain short circuit while his reality collapsed, but he couldn’t accept it – so he offered me outside for a fight.
Bit of a different take: I had a girl in uni who so desperately wanted to be me that she dyed her hair all the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this same colours as me two days after I dyed it and wore the same outfit as me the day after I’d worn it. She listened to the same bands as me and had all the same favourite songs as me. She even changed how she spelt the short version of her name to be more similar to mine (she started to use an i instead of a y…think Dotti instead of Dotty or Lani instead of Laney) She was a sweet enough girl and so we were friendly with one another and I’d invite her round with the rest of the friend group. Anyways, last year (eight years out of uni) we all went to a hen do and the drinking games began. We started sharing stories and she told us of a time she dragged a guy called Jamie out to the bushes on our campus, confused her love to him and erm…”made out” with him. I was so confused as I had done this with Jamie not her, and so I drunkenly called her out. Then she sheepishly admitted the she knew I had done this and so she attempted the exact same thing the following year but then stated that there was no “making out” as he rejected her.
Poor Jamie. He has a dim memory of some girl dragging him off and sticking her tongue down his throat. The next year, a different girl, but with the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this same hair and clothes, tries to do it again. He tells this story, and no one believes him. He’s slowly desending into madness trying to figure out if it was real. I’ve stolen someone else’s before. We were at dinner and we’d had a little wine. I started telling this story of how me and my wife complained about the mattresses in a hotel, only for my wife to interrupt me, telling everyone at the table very loudly that it wasn’t us, it was her friend, who’d told us a few weeks beforehand. I was like, “Oh yeah” hahaha There was a woman at an old workplace that used to do this both to me and other people. She was on the autistic spectrum so I put it down to her not knowing what to do in group social situations. She was otherwise kind and pleasant, but sometimes she would copy what I did or she would repeat an anecdote to me that I knew from someone else in the office (a couple of times me and this woman had both been present when the original storyteller told everyone the original story, and later she would repeat it as her own)
Interesting. My parents/family and I tell “sourceless” anecdotes a lot. Someone visited and said we were very anecdotal and I had never realised it was unusual. Maybe that is a sign … When I was a baby/toddler, whenever I was with my dad who was having Guinness I would apparently dip my dummy into his Guinness, not even just once this was a thing all the Thomas Jefferson Oh Shit That’s Due Tomorrow Quotes Shirt Furthermore, I will do this time. Mentioned this at some point and a kid stole it and used it as a ‘this is how Irish I am compared to you southerners’ My former boss would do this. He ALWAYS had stories about some friend or family member, literally hundreds of anecdotes over the years. I would sometimes tell him a story of something that happened to a friend of mine or family member, and years later he would then regale everyone with a funny or mad story about a friend of his or family member, but it actually one of the anecdotes I told him. I would always wonder how many of his stories he had actually stolen over the years. And anytime anything would happen in his local area and it was in the news, it would always be his friend or family member that it happened to.
