As someone who doesn’t job jump it comes more down to companies aren’t willing to compensate loyal employees they would rather leave employees that are experienced and trained with meager raises to eventually just leave even though I would think companies would want to keep their highly knowledgeable employees No, its the They call me mcclunkey Star wars maclunkey classic shirt In addition,I will do this fact that there are huge disparities in cost of living across the country. It makes no sense to implement a national minimum wage based on cost of living in san Francisco or New York that also applies to Wichita or Tulsa. It is called an “exaggeration” something I am not surprised to learn many redditors genuinely cannot comprehend. The problem with raising minimum wage is that there’s nothing stopping capital holders from hiking prices to keep up the wage vs cost of living disparity.

Yes, there needs to be laws in place to prevent it because the They call me mcclunkey Star wars maclunkey classic shirt In addition,I will do this greedy will keep gouging it until they’re stopped. Exactly. Raising minimum wage on its own doesn’t do enough. I’m not saying don’t raise minimum wage but do that plus add legislation that stops businesses from doing this. Minimum wage laws are bullshit. Even where I live in the middle-of-nowhere Ohio, the most entry level jobs are $14+/hr. The fact that federal minimum wage is $7.25/hr is meaningless. If you’re working somewhere for $7.25/hr, you’re not paying attention. If minimum wages go up, so will the price of goods and services. Raising minimum wages may be a bandaid fix. But the wound will still fester and bleed. Buddy, if you haven’t noticed, the minimum wage hasn’t gone up since 2009, and the price of goods and services has gone up anyway! Clown. “I think.” Love how people make these posts as if it’s an original thought they had in the moment as opposed to a sentiment that’s posted on social media 10x a day. I live in a decent-sized city in the Midwest and I spent last summer looking for entry-level work (late 20s going back to college). I NEVER saw anything under $10/hour and had two job offers as a driver for $16.50 and $17 working 40-50 hours. Took the former because working conditions were nicer, but all raising the minimum wage would do is price people out of the market. If sitting at a cash register only produces $13/hour of value for a store, then that company won’t break even paying $15. They will be incentivized to automate or use existing employees with more skills to cover the position in addition to their other responsibilities.
