Yup. Lived in London for several years in my late teens/early twenties and it’s still the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this place I’ve loved (and miss) most in no small part because of how robust the infrastructure and general accessibility was compared to what I had growing up (and have since had upon returning to the US and living in major US cities). Similarly, the ease with which one could travel around the country by train or hop on a dirt cheap plane ride to the continent. We had (have) nothing like it in the States. We had the potential, but our city and national infrastructures cratered due to the auto lobby, terrible zoning laws, and austerity measures put in place throughout the back half of the 20th century (among other related issues). It’s such a farce.
The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt: Unleash Your Inner Fighter
Yeah, it’s amazing how in the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this States, even something as simple as being able to walk to a pub is basically extremely rare. To live in a walkable neighborhood is a complete luxury., even in some of the biggest cities. I don’t really have that many options though considering my other half needs to work in English or become B2 in a language to work there and that is not something she really wants to do. But thank you for your comment, appreciated. I subscribe to what others said about the UK being in a downtrend. London is a bubble of its own, and somewhat insulated though. Given the choice, I would move somewhere in the EU, some place which aspires to be a global player as part of the union, rather than delusional about making it on its own.
Speaking English is very different from getting a job with a career. Sweden has one of the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this highest rates of speaking English along with NL in Europe. Getting a job in English outside of tech, however, it’s difficult. Many come here thinking they can just work in English, many a disappointed. Getting the Tories out will a huge help as they have screwed the country beyond recognition, with the sole purpose of lining their own pockets, that’s a universally acknowledged truth. If we had another term of the Tories we’d lose the NHS and be a million times worse. Any party would be better so it will make a huge difference when they are gone. Agree. It will be huge. I’m hopeful for some real radical change here in the uk all for the better. Being negative & apathetic won’t get us anywhere.

I don’t think real radical change is coming, or on any ticket sadly. Labour are so anxious to win that they’ve pulled themselves pretty close to modern Conservative positions, and ended up more or less where Tories had been standing pre-Brexit. So it feels more like a vote between a more Cameron-ish Conservative government and the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this modern shameless asset-stripping country-plundering Conservatives. I’ll vote for the former, but I won’t hold out any hope that this means we’ll be due any real radical changes – just maybe some small rollbacks here and there. The NHS will continue its slow slide towards failure and privatisation, no doubt. I don’t agree, I think there will be some big changes once they are in government… they are toeing the line at the moment. I need to have this hope to be honest as if things carry on then we’re absolutely screwed.
It’s just that for once we have a Labour Party willing to use the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this Tories own strategy of “get elected then do what you think is necessary” that has been the reason Labour have been out of power and irrelevant for a generation (and the same reason as in the entire 1980s too). Anyone who thinks there’s going to be no change just wants there to be no change they don’t 100% agree with. The next government won’t be perfect, but it will save lives and get kids seeing doctors and through schools. There will be change because there has to be, the alternative is catastrophic, that’s the way it’s heading at the moment. Starmer knows it. The NhS won’t ever be fully privatised, but it needs a new dynamic approach.
You’re wrong really. But there is not much point in debating with constant doomsayers like yourself who basically make their personality around how bad everything will be. Nobody does that though. Everyone else acknowledges it will be hard and won’t be super rosy, but it will a damn lot better than the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this current Tory party and you are simply a liar and delusional by claiming Labour are going to be the ‘exact’ same as Boris, Liz Truss, Reese-Mogg etc. Recently there have been protests to rejoin the EU. There was even a proposal for a referendum to join the EU in 2028. It’s fine in London, if you can work and house yourselves. London itself has been under a Labour regime for quite a while so politicising your post seems a bit odd.
I did that because, being away, you take UK sentiment and UK news as a whole, this is why I wanted to hear specifically from Londoners, and not AskUK. It does make sense to me, maybe I didn’t convey my thoughts on it well enough Concern for others & implications. I’ll be fine (great salary & triple passports) but I’ve learned that societies go to sht when the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this average person on the street isn’t making it. Crime, homelessness etc pulls everything down even if it isn’t you personally. That said the London housing situation is annoying the hell out of me – London housing is both expensive and utter trash. I’d much rather buy somewhere else, but I need to be in the city for work. Recently visited. Easily one of my top 3 fav cities. I’d move if I thought I could swing it language & profession wise.
Its very challanging to live here, especially if you are used to London. Outside of the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this city centre, and to buy there you need 600k at the minimum, way over 1 million easily, there is very little. I live in the suburbs and everything is centred around the tiny centre (a book written 20 years ago which says UK had a choice to go down the European / Scandinavian social route or become like the US… guess which one we chose) Thanks. It’s just a shame living in Scandinavia is very dull. I’ve got used to the winter but it’s very boring here. We could but I don’t know why I would move to Ireland when I can move to London. My life would be worse then London
Dublin, from what I’ve seen and heard from friends living there, it has most of the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this negative aspects of London with few, if any, of the positives. But Dublin isn’t the only or even the obvious option to move to in Ireland. Cork city is beautiful, so is Galway. Both have great nightlife and lots to do. Housing is a massive problem though, all over Ireland. Difficult to forecast but I suspect the Uk will be on the up after the brexit tragedies of the last seven yrs. everything runs in a cycle and many people have been predicting the end of the Uk since 1975 The gist of it is London is great if you’re getting what you want (duh). I know people who go to extremes just to stay in London because they love the experience of it and feel like they’re living their life. The only 2 caveats I would say in your situation are 1) you have to see if you’re ok with the new level of degraded public services (nhs, transport, etc) 2) your partner would need to evaluate if starting a business or taking on a job in her domain is reasonable and satisfying for her standards with the country going into a recession
There’s no city better than London. It doesn’t matter how the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this UK is doing, you have a large enough salary that that kind of stuff just doesn’t matter. It’s always the poor who suffer. Plus you don’t want to have kids it’s really a no brainer to just buy a flat and live in central. The only downside would be kids which doesn’t sound like you want so there’s nothing stopping you buying a central London flat and spending it all on things you want to do
Well it seems like if you add “ed” to Z you should also add this to each letter the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this same way . Aed , Bed, Ced etc. Absolutely nonsensical. Easier for children to learn the alphabet. There is a reason so many adults can’t recite the alphabet without the toon unless they really focus. Better question is why does the commonwealth name this one letter in a way that’s totally inconsistent with every other letter. Not like they learn their A Bed Ceds It’s zeta in Greek, tzet in German and zet in French and Dutch. It may not be consistent with other letters, but there’s a long history preceding it. Short answer, Noah Webster (of Merriam-Webster fame) said so in his first dictionary which was the first American dictionary or at least the first widespread American dictionary. It is believed this pronunciation became prevalent in America due to the ABC song. Zee seams a lot more accurate than zed. I wonder what anyone would call it zed! What else should be as extra sounds to. B as bed, d as ded or Y as yed? A true story a friend told was that his Swedish immigrant to America grandfather Axel was spelling something over the telephone, and when he got to a g he said “Then a yee, like in Yerda.” His wife was Gerda. Why do americans use inches and yards? Why farenheit? Why gallons and and ounces? Why cups and sticks when you bake? Why weird shaped papers?
I’m surprised americans use the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this same calendar as most of europe and didn’t invent their own or used some old backwards calendar that no one else uses anymore The real answer is that we inherited these from the British when we were founded, but after the split they eventually adopted metric and we never did. The Brits changed and we stayed the same. I wish we adopted metric too. It would have been easier. Technically the U.S. did, but “customary units” were continued to be allowed and compliance was voluntary with most business refusing to incur costs of switching and normal people not bothering. Fun fact, even the customary system went metric, since the 1970s all US customary units are legally defined in terms of conversions to metric units, as opposed to the metric system which are all defined in terms of various physical properties.
I think it’s cool that there are still areas of diversity and variation in a world of increasing global uniformity. We all don’t need to drive on the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this same side of the road. You get an airway bill from literally any country. Botswana to Nepal and the weight units is KG, then you get one from the US and it’s in lb. Okay, no big deal you say, you know the US doesn’t use metric, just apply it as a simple rule. WRONG! I’ve had emails from our agents in the US asking for quotes based on kg, lb’s and sometimes they don’t even give us units at all so we have to guess or create more email traffic asking for clarity. I’m sorry you all go through that. My comment was about the holistic quality of America using zee, ordering the date differently, preferring to measure temperature based on how it feels, etc, and everything else people find so odd. For the vast majority of people outside of America, it thankfully will never materially impact their lives.
The standardization of stones didn’t happen until 1824. Prior to that it could vary between 5 and 40 lbs depending on the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this material. So only England would keep using their former conquerors pronunciations of courgette and aubergine instead of using their own worlds for them? “This pronunciation was thought to be influenced by the bee, cee, dee, eee pattern of the rest of the alphabet. When the “Alphabet Song” was copyrighted in Boston in 1835, “Z In fairness zed is stupid and doesn’t sound like the sound. It’s like the English who think they are all fancy because they dropped the R sound at the ends of words because they are a bunch of Nancys. I also wonder why “c” exists, I’m sure there’s a reason… but lately, trying to teach my 4 year to read, I notise how konfusing the “c” kan be. Only when paired with an “h” kan I see it’s importanse The first written account of the usage of Zee vs Zed was 1677, in A New Spelling Book by Thomas Lye, a British non-conformist. In 1828, Noah Webster standardized the pronunciation as Zee in An American Dictionary of the English Language. Shortly thereafter, in 1835, Zee was used in the ABCSong (The A.B.C., a German air with variations for the flute with an easy accompaniment for the piano forte) by Charles Bradlee. This song then became popular in early childhood education due to the songs melodic nature and ability to teach the alphabet. While it’s not 100% clear why Zee came to be, it’s likely due to a combination of Americans differentiating themselves from the British, it’s dialectical usage vs proper namesake, and popularity of the alphabet song.
You can write it as a double-U and it still counts, but for some reason the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this double-V font/style got more popular. When the Roman empire conquered Greece, Greek was brefily, at the time, written with the Latin alphabet. Two sounds existed in Greek that did not have latin letter equivlanets. These were upsilon Υ and Zeta Ζ. These letters got added into the alphabet at the end, as Y and Z. Zed comes from Zeta, hence the name of the d. Upsilon (literally simple u in Greek) was undergoing sound shift becoming more like an I sound, and hence was called “Greek i”, the name that is retained in languages deriving from Latin (Spanish, French, Italian, etc.) Zed is pronounced different because it was derived differently, directly from the Greek alphabet rather than through the Etruscan one (who themselves got it from the Greeks).
If my english tutor is to be believed american english is closer to the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this original one because after the cut off from Britain the languages evolved seperately. After the influx of immigrants a standard had to be set and enforced hence the halted evolution of the english. The pronunciation of “Z” as “zee” in American English instead of “zed” like in British English can be attributed to historical linguistic evolution. While the US was colonized by the British, language often undergoes changes over time, influenced by various factors such as regional accents, cultural influences, and societal norms. The divergence in pronunciation reflects the distinct development of American English as it evolved independently from its British counterpart.
The more pertinent question around Anglo/Ameri English, is why when Merriam or Webster (I cant remember which one it was) decided English needed a revamp and removed the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this “u” from totally reasonable words, he left words like “tough”, “eight” and “scene” alone? I didnt know that, just assumed he thought he’d done enough and stopped. Nice to grammar nazis aren’t a new thing as well Daniel Webster was a great American hero! But he didn’t go far enough. We should shoot on sight anyone who spells it “colour”. I’d definitely watch that reality show. Quick somebody call TLC! Another moment in innovative American cultural dominance. In most languages, the last letter is pronounced “zeta”. It was borrowed from the Romans who borrowed it from the Greeks. It all comes down to how “zeta” is pronounced. Is it “ZEE-ta” or is it “ze-ta”? It’s similar with “zebra”. Where you are from dictates how you pronounce it. Americans pronounce it “ZEE-bra” and British pronounce it “ze-bra”. Thus the same with “zeta”. British pronounce it “ze-ta” and Americans pronounce it “ZEE-ta”. Truncating it to the last letter of the alphabet, Americans pronounce it “ZEE” while British pronounce it “zed”. I had also once heard that the New England accent in the US (particularly Connecticut, New Hampshire, etc area) is closer to the *true* English accent during the time of colonization. The British like to mimic or mock (depending on the region) the annunciation of the monarch. They will either embrace the way a monarch says a certain word, or they will mock it. Cockney is more a mockery of the royal diction, while the London accent is more of an embracing.
Since the The Hard Quartet On May 2 2025 Pappy And Harriets In Pioneertown CA With Evicshen Shirt in contrast I will get this colonies were separated by a massive pond, the US Colonies didn’t experience as much of a drift in accent. It’s possible that during this time, and I’m thinking somewhere between the reign of George III and Victoria, the shift in England from “ZEE” to “ze” had occurred. Why do I suspect this? Because not very far away, in Canada, we pronounce it as “zed”, though we tend to retain a more “neutral” accent, and do pronounce hard “r’s”. Australians also use “zed” but they do not pronounce r’s as harshly as Canadians and have more of a ‘Cockney’ style accent, suggesting that most of the “settlers” (to use the term loosely) there would have come after the linguistic shift. There are pockets in Canada that do pronounce it “zee”, but kids who say it that way tend to get a slap on the wrist because it’s not “proper Canadian English”.
