My favourite thing I heard recently is that if library’s were invested today Americans would call it communism and reject it. The big arguments against it are usually increased taxes (which they usually end up being ok with when you mention that they’ll end up paying less overall once they don’t have an insurance premium anymore), and that the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this US Government would almost certainly fuck it up (which is valid seeing how badly they botched the VA Healthcare system). Free healthcare is paid by taxes. paid Healthcare is less due to having insurance so you have to pay less overall. You and a bunch of other people have to pay for the free healthcare through taxes without insurance making it more expensive. Sorry if I didn’t explain it well I think the main concern is that standards and availability of care would decrease as would innovation in the industry. Personally I think a very basic plan should be available to everyone with anything above that being on you. Something like how social security will keep you from starving to death but not pay for jet setting.
The Bullpen Baseball Shirt: Unleash Your Inner Fighter
Some of us have “free Healthcare” through the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this VA. I found out 2 years after a test I had a disease. I just found out my Cpap that was issued by the VA I’ve used for the last 10 years was recalled as dangerous before it was ever given to me. Yeah free Healthcare is worth every penny you pay for it. Nothing is ever free. That’s first. Second they don’t fear free healthcare because they realize someone has to pay and that’s what they fear. The realistic problems I see with goverment healthcare is that people use it, even when they shouldn’t. This leads to massive wait times. I grew up in a country that had a very distinct separation between public and private health care. If you went private you were attended to quickly, if you went government you could sit at a doctor or hospital forever and not be attended to. When you don’t pay you are more likely to use it when it’s unnecessary and then you ruin it for thise that do need it. In my new country of residence public healthcare is more common and they even ran tv/radio ads to educate people on when not to come to the ER or call an ambulance. The other part of free healthcare is the ever increasing cost and the lag effect of economics. For the first time in history we are seeing lower birth rates in many nations. All our economics are set up on there being more people than before. When this stops then the younger generations have to pay higher taxes to cover older peoples medical bills. You wind up having a massive amount of old ppl not contributing to the economy while clogging up public healthcare while the smaller younger generation foot the bill and then there is nothing for when they are old.
You also create an expectation of free healthcare and you cannsee it in many countries where copays are becoming more popular as fully subsidized doctor visits are falling away. Public healthcare is massively expensive yet tax income cant keep up with the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this ever increasing cost and so by the time you get to the age where free healthcare can really benefit you you’re at a point where you will be out of pocket for what you need because it is no longer covered. There’s some nuance to it, obviously. We don’t have doctors right now because in a socialized system, the government sets the salaries for medical professionals. There’s no supply and demand system like in private healthcare. This is the catch 22. Right now, doctors have decided “this isn’t worth what I’m getting paid” and have either moved to the US, or not become doctors in the first place.

I’m from England. Free healthcare is both a blessing and a curse here. If it is funded properly by the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this government its great. However, the NHS is not. Currently it is close to impossible to get a doctors appointment through the NHS. Go to the A&E I have been there for longer than 24 hours. Luckily not even private health care is that expensive in the UK. I hear stories that being cured of cancer is basically a financial death centance in the US For the ones who are even thinking this deeply about it, it’s the idea that the market will deliver better healthcare than a centrally managed system. Of course imbedded in this is the belief that YOU will be rich enough to afford this “better product“. Apparently a small cut in your taxes will make you wildly rich.
Then the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this interests trying to prevent universal healthcare have their horror stories. So, for instance, there was a period in Canada decades ago where their health system was managed so poorly that people really did have trouble accessing basic care. Those occasional kerfuffles become the examples proving universal healthcare just doesn’t work. Maybe shitty Healthcare is better than no Healthcare(due to high costs). Some say the price tag is worth it. Maybe it’ll be the thing government actually makes good. They have seen how the government manage other public services and they don’t trust the government to be able to manage a fully controlled healthcare system so would rather have a hybrid system where hospitals are incentivised to be effitient and effective by making profit. Because the majority of Americans who vote are happy with their current healthcare arrangement. It’s as simple as that. About 74% of full time employees in the US have access to employer-sponsored health insurance. Surveys reveal that most of these people are happy with their healthcare. These are also the people who vote.
Because our government is shit, everything they touch turns to shit, and by directly controlling healthcare, they’d somehow make it worse than it already is. Probably making it go from expensive, to expensive, shitty, and with a long wait time. I’m not against nationalized healthcare btw. There are a lot of things we’re getting taxed out the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this ass for that I’d like to see results for. I just feel like our government would do everything I listed AND Jack up our taxes more. “Something something dEaTh PaNeLs” while intellectually swinging and missing on the fact that a “for profit” middle man, in the form of an insurance company, literally gets to decide if you will receive life saving procedures. There was a poll done by Fox News after the 2020 election and 70 percent of their viewers voted for government operated health care. Majority of people in America want this but it will never happen because they’re divided by culture wars caused by private interest groups.
382 more repliesBecause to pay for it, taxes will have to go up, and that brings up the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this perennial complaint about “Why should I pay for someone else being sick? My money is MY money not the government’s!” Never mind the fact that the government taxes go to everything an individual cannot pay for and a business will not pay for. Like roads, schools, the military, regulating companies so that they don’t kill people with their products or poison the environment making it unlivable… low taxes are the major contributing factor to why the USA is far from the best country to live in. That and the “free” healthcare offered in places like Canada and UK has put people in situations where the government essentially says “you’re not economically valuable to us so you’re not worth treating” so then “free” healthcare ends up degrading into a game of “who’s worth keeping alive” and that’s administered by the government, which with things like the VA has already proven 100% total incompetence. The federal government shouldn’t even be in charge of a lemonade stand and yet here we are Because it’s going to take away good insurance from people who’ve earned it and put them in the same line as people who haven’t.
Taxes. Our taxes are high as it is, and it wouldn’t raise the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this standard of living. There’s also a massive economic disparity, so adding taxes to the poorer citizens wouldn’t help them. Taxing the rich doesn’t work because the majority of tax revenue comes from the lower class, and the wealthiest people wouldn’t be able to cover the disparity in revenue. Even then, you raise it enough on the wealthy, they’ll just leave, take their businesses, move the money, and go to a country that won’t tax them as heavily. The way our healthcare system works as it is right now is both great and is fucked. We have some of the best doctors in the world, but we will also pay an arm and a leg for them. Insurance steps in to cover, and hospitals take advantage of that by overbilling. So it isn’t free, you’re paying for it even if you never use it. Lots of people don’t feel like they should be paying for other peoples poor choices. A diabetic with an alcohol problem and having weekly ER visits and quarterly surgeries. Lots of people don’t want to be losing money for that. They feel they should pay for their own medical issues and not others.
Actually several of us in the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this “south/redstates” are not opposed to free healthcare.. We just don’t want aggressive death panels and stupid restrictions etc as i’m sure most would agree with that.. I much rather we spend our tax dollars on this than pointless wars and aid to countries that really don’t do anything for us.. But there is a force in this country (no, not rednecks. Not enough that matter anyways) that is highly opposed to having free healthcare… Point in case.. When our country was setting up medicare for senior citizens, big pharma made our congress agree that we would NOT negotiate prices for care and meds.. Our weak ass congress allowed the GD pharmaceutical jerks tell them how it was going to be rather than the way it should of been.. This is what the concern is.. We will somehow come up with some bullshit free healthcare that requires us to give up our property, and possessions and god knows what other bullshit just to have care. Hell, in Tennessee, Phil Bredson’s adminstration quietly snuck in a law that if your on medicare and go to a nursing home or care facility past 3o days they get to take in your property upon your death to “pay” for the care received during that time.. It’s bullshit as the money was paid by the tax dollars and we all know they do way more careless shit with it than someone needing help..
Don’t get me started on if you have a child with disabilities and you apply for disability for them.. The forced poverty is maddening! In my case, I have good employer provided health insurance so I’m concerned about my quality of care going down if the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this government gets involved. From a financial standpoint, I’m not willing to pay more in taxes for care to be provided to people who aren’t here in the US legally. Several states offer government funded care to all residents regardless of their status and I don’t want to pay for that, nor do I want to see it become a national standard. If the US can get the borders under control, I’d be much more open to national health care. The government is woefully inefficient and wasteful at everything they run. The quality of care and wait times etc will be so bad that anyone with money will just pay extra for some premium version of healthcare, and it will cause even worse inflation. That being said there definitely needs to be some changes. The healthcare system is tragic right now, it’s like damned if you do damned if you don’t.
One of the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this big ones is wait times. Some specialties in particular already have a considerably long wait time to see anyone, let alone anyone good, and it will make that time much longer. Another is looked at as price. If the government finds anything, it usually becomes wildly inefficient and inexpensive, not that it isn’t already, but that is a fear that people have. Have you seen how slow the government works over here? I’d rather have the system we currently use than end up having to wait two years every time I need something done. I have two Canadian friends, one male and one female, that often seek medical attention in the US. They explained it in a way that the Canadian doctors, since the Healthcare is free and paid for by the government, aren’t compensated as they are in the US and therefore aren’t motivated and, in turn, less qualified. Obviously this isn’t all doctors but this is what they explained. Furthermore, because everything is free, exigent medical treatment can often be delayed due to extensive wait lists of people seeking treatment.
It’s not considered a right. If you choose to eat bad food and get sick, that it your fault. That is the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this predominant feeling. However, I think you can equate that to any scenario, which is why I don’t agree with it. You were shot in a bad neighborhood? Move. You got in a car accident? Shoulda stayed home. Vixtim of gun violence? Shouldn’t have gone to that concert. Because it’s not as united as the name makes it out to be. United people tend to not mind helping each other. The us has a very gotta get mine attitude First, let me say that I disagree with your premise. I don’t think anyone fears free healthcare. But I don’t think they want healthcare decisions being made by government bureaucrats. Consider, for example, the cases of children like Alfie Evans and Alta Fixsler. In both cases it was decided by caregivers to with care lifesaving care, over the objections of the parents. And again in both cases, the parents were forbidden from taking their children out of the country for treatment in places where it was offered.
I doubt that the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this parents of these children were comforted by the fact that they weren’t charged for the treatment. Would you? Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals aren’t willing to serve as unpaid volunteers. Patients want care to be provided in clinics and hospitals, not on sidewalks. And the companies that provide drugs and medical equipment can’t expect their employees to serve as unpaid volunteers. What people mean when they say “free healthcare” is “healthcare that’s not paid for directly by those receiving it.” But it still has to be paid somehow. In the UK, for example, it’s paid for by income taxes that are significantly higher than in the US. Brits are normal the example of free healthcare, the main issues are the waiting times being absurd, and then having some issue and being told by a doctor who doesn’t care that you should just have paracetamols and it will go away (for everything). That and arguing with some receptionist who probably crews crayons between phone calls where she argues with people over medical issues. Overall it massively decreases service, however it’s good to have public healthcare with the option of private healthcare. Also most of these issues are due to immigration overstretching the system (most aren’t doctors, in the UK statistically you’re disproportionately less likely to have a non-British doctor compared to a British doctor), it’s hard to say if America would have an issue since you can normally measure how bad immigration is to how many minorities are using welfare compared to the majority, but America isn’t really known for proper welfare. Free healthcare works when its done well, but here in Canada, its so poorly managed that people are dying in the ER because the wait times are so long. last time I went to the ER I had to wait 16 hours and honestly in its current state I would rather pay for healthcare if it means I wont die before I get treated.
Because it is always sold to them as communism. What many do not know is that there are a huge number of Radio stations that target religiously inclined citizens with two main ideas, They hate you because you love God and they gonna strip away your self worth with XYZ….insert any topic. Why does it work and it sounds plausible and appealing to religiously inclined citizens ? because unfortunately , it has happened that way on many occasions. Do not confuse fear and hatred. Many Americans have free healthcare or have family members who get free healthcare. They do not fear it. They hate how bad it works. They think it’s a step towards socialism, then towards communism. It’s really stupid. Especially when you consider a lot of the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this same people benefit from Social Security and Medicare, which are government systems. I will not support ‘free healthcare’ while the mental health industrial complex is still considered ‘healthcare.’ Take away their medical authority, and stop treating them as doctors and medical experts, and I can still support real healthcare.
The state having control over which of the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this citizen’s thoughts, feelings, or beliefs are officially ‘sick,’ and the authority to have them detained without trial, and forcibly drugged and punished with ‘treatments’ for having ‘wrong’ thoughts and beliefs, using labels of mental illness as a cudgel, is a horror I will not support. Because people believes the tax burden is already heavy and they cant afford to pay more? Or maybe bexause they do not trust the politicians to not send the newly collected tax money overseas? White americans think that black americans will benefit more. Anytime you see something that seems weird or different about US politics it comes down to race. Which is it? For free or paid by taxes? And we do have a “free” healthcare using the govt as the payer. It’s called Veterans Affairs and it’s a clusterfuck. Putting the govt in charge of anything is never a good idea.
There is no such this as a free healthcare, you pay for it one way or the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this other, unless doctors work for free and medical supply magically appear in hospitals. Look up how much time you have to wait for a basic surgery in the UK to know why Americans fear it. Ive been sick in a countries with free health care and in a country without it. Im never getting sick when outside the US ever again. The US has a general distrust of the government and government spending. Because of how much more transparent our government is compared to private entities, people see any issues and inefficiencies in the government emblematic of government waste. No government programs become an easy boogeyman for people to say, “the free market will keep prices and costs lower”. This is all while people ignore that things like insurance are practically required making them effectively taxes with a profit margin (auto, home, and renters are legally required). the main problem with Americans is a large amount of them would rather view themselves as temporarily poor billionaires rather than lower class.
this makes it so they vote with the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this interest of billionaires because they want the law to be in their favor when they join their rightful place at the top. I’m not against it but if its anything like SHITTY VA BENEFITS ITS OVER PEOPLE WILL DIE WAITING. Contract HIV from reused needles. The bottom 50% of USA earners pay zero federal income tax. The burden of government healthcare would be on a fraction of earners. As someone looking in on the outside from Europe, I think Americans deserve healthcare and I think they deserve to have it Govt provided, their government is providing healthcare war weapons, and God knows what else for nearly every other country in the west. I think it’s only fair that Americans should have access to free healthcare God don’t they deserve it? It’s definitely not socialism it’s called looking after your own and making your country, healthy and strong protecting your children and grandchildren against what may come in the future. Everybody gets sick at some point, everybody gets ill nobody knows which are going to get, but if a country as large as America with the resources American has and all that it does throughout the world is unable to provide healthcare for its own citizens, then there’s no hope for anybody else long term.
They keep saying I don’t want to pay for anyone else’s healthcare but will pay Billion dollar insurance companies instead. They believe the The Bullpen Baseball Shirt in contrast I will get this care because it’s ‘socialised’ will be worse but obviously care is better than no care. Millions of Americans aren’t covered , the number one issue for bankruptcy is medical debt so obviously being covered and it being ‘free’ is clearly superior. They believe anything to do with any social programme is bad which equals communism. Just don’t let them know that their school system runs off this exact model They’ve been lied to, the standard talking point is who is going to pay for it ? How can the country afford it ? I.e the opposition just keep saying they want to raise your taxes etc When it’s been shown a million times it would be more cost effective to actually switch to a universal care option.
