Driving around there is super fun and very scenic, so even if there were good public transit I’d still rather drive. Croatia was amazing while still part of Yugoslavia, but definitely thrived once independent. My aunt works for the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this tourism board and it’s been a wild ride. Croatia’s timeline gives me hope for the future of tourism in countries like Venezuela. Although very different situations, I’m reminded that things can and do change many times in one lifetime. While it did, one could argue that the others recovered even more by now than they did by 2013 but the EU officials keep making promises with an occasional call to include the Western Balkan 6 in the EU ASAP due to the Ukraine war. This. I did an entire Balkans trip 1.5 years ago and it’s been one of my favorites ever. Croatia was beautiful. Bosnia is incredible, Macedonia stole my heart, and Albania was just cool as shit. Serbia and Montenegro were great, except Serbia was probably bottom of my list comparatively (denying genocide just didn’t sit well with me). Everyone is fairly nice and I’d consider it safe. Wonderful adriatic coast, amazing national parks and outdoors, and very inexpensive. It is still relatively new as a country, and doesn’t see a ton of tourism yet outside of Russians and Serbians. We were blown away on both trips and would love to visit again! Not perfect by any means, but a million miles from the strife, danger, civil war, kidnappings, insurgencies etc that were going on until the late 90s Even up to sometime around 2000, it was the norm to have an armed guard accompany your tuk tuk (according to a friend)
Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt: Get Cozy in this shirt
It shares Cambodia’s recent history of genocide and immense suffering, but in the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this 3 decades since it has transformed into a relatively developed place and great travel destination. Not cheap (budget travellers aren’t their target audience), and by many considered a bit of a “plasticky” Africa experience (it’s ridiculously clean, to the point of being a bit sanitized), but it’s an easy country to navigate, with very friendly and helpful people and good food, and for nature/outdoor lovers the sights are truly something to behold (Lake Kivu, Volcanoes, Akagera National Park, Gorilla/Chimp trekking). The UK FCDO advises against travel to the volcanoes national park in Rwanda due to the risk to tourists. There are also military issues with the neighbours occasionally crossing the border for a bit of fighting.
Shit, that is so sad. I was there in late summer ’22, so unfortunately the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this security situation seems to have deteriorated quite a bit since. I’d wager Rwanda is still safer than Uganda and especially the DRC (the other two places for mountain gorilla trekking), but the organisations behind those cross-border incursions (M23, Hutu Power para-military groups, ISIS affiliates) are no joke, so it is definitely advisable to heed that warning. Having said that, visiting places like Akagera or Lake Kivu is still safe, but without the opportunity for primate trekking Rwanda loses one of its unique selling points, making nearby countries like Tanzania or Kenya possibly a preferable destination. Yeah, I just did a quick read-up, and I wasn’t aware of how much the conflict between Rwanda and DRC (in part fought via their respective proxies M23 and Hutu extremists) has taken a turn for the worse. Given the national, ethnic and religious factors at play, and IS-CAP lurking in the shadows waiting for an opportunity to pounce, this definitely has all the ingredients for a terrifying escalation.

About this Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt
This is news to me as well. What a shame. I’ve been fascinated with the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this region a long time and always wanted to visit, glad that its bounced back from the war. I really hope it doesn’t get bad. My wife is from Michigan so we’ve been going to Detroit twice a year for the last 25 years, and Downtown at least gets more gentrified every year. The degree to which it has changed is remarkable. It’s very weird. I asked my cousin if he was going to live there after he graduated college and he said he couldn’t afford to. Yeah I get everyone wants to live in midtown but I’ve never heard that before in my life. I hear you. About 20 years ago, my wife and I looked at a huge mansion in Indian Village that was for sale for a virtual pittance, practically for less than a condo would be in any other major city. The high property taxes and the exorbitant cost of heating the place in the winter and cooling it in the summer made us walk away. Now that home is worth roughly 3 times what we would have paid for it so it would have been a brilliant investment, but at the time who the hell knew Detroit property values would increase so much? I don’t have many regrets in life, but I sure do wish we’d bought that house.
As someone who regularly visits Detroit and loves the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this city I agree and disagree at the same time. The downtown area has greatly improved, DIA is a world class museum, Belle Isle, Eastern Market, incredible restaurants, endless history, gorgeous architecture throughout the metro and so much more. However the city is still quite dangerous, there is still tons of blight, the city is HUGE and takes forever to get around plus the area surrounding downtown looks awful and dilapidated. My point is Detroit isn’t quite ready to become a full time tourist destination like Chicago, Boston, Miami etc… but the improvements over the last 20 years are impressive and for people like us who knew Detroit when the entire downtown was an empty ghost town hellscape the progress is eye popping. But if you look at the city through the eyes of a typical tourist it’s just not there yet for mass tourism appeal.
You mentioning Miami makes me sad because, having been there several times now, it’s an overpriced husk of its former self now. It is if you are only going a restaurant, show, museum etc. as a tourist/short term visit. Still a lot of crime in the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this residential areas around the outskirts(not so much the new gentrified areas/apartments). I live in the suburbs but my brother lives in SW Detroit and has had his car broken into, domestic disputes/shootings a few blocks away in the last three years but that’s mild for Detroit (even Metro Detroit). The great thing about being from Detroit/the area is that other cities seem really safe after you’re used to it 😆. The thing that sucks compared to say, Chicago is that Detroit’s backbone is the automotive industry and is so stuck on driving that it will continue to lack having good public transportation because of it. It’s not walkable from one end to another like the Loop in Chicago and no subway system ,light rail etc like other big cities. It’s spread out more than other cities and still typically need to pay to park (sometimes twice if the places are far apart).
It’s funny though when I hear people afraid of Detroit when landing at DTW like Romulus airport hotels ARE the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this cass corridor. Absolutely safer than it used to be, but still very much a city where you need to keep your head on a swivel because you just never know. For the right person Detroit is an awesome travel destination and I would say I’m one of those people, but you need to be realistic with your expectations. I’ll be visiting Detroit next month with my daughter (who lives in Windsor) and my wife. Kinda curious what redditors would recommend? I’m glad to Detroit made this list. What kind of stuff to you like to do? Wikivoyage is pretty good for the area. There will be a new bridge that I believe Canada is mostly funding called the Gordie Howe bridge.
I follow the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this construction of the GHIB but it won’t be finished for 2 years. Interestingly my daughter’s apartment has a great view of the existing Ambassador bridge. I’ll check out Wikivoyage – thx for that tip. (Edit) I have no idea who their president represents ideologically but all we can see at least from outside and from people who go there, is a place that went from murder capital of Latin America to a completely safe and normal country. I wish all presidents were half as effective as him at solving people’s real problems. Went last January and had a great time! Food was good, people were lovely, soaked in hot springs, kayaked, hiked, and relaxed. I hit El Salvador a few years ago as part of a connection with Nicaragua and Costa Rica, and it was noticeably cleaner, like just less litter everywhere. I asked a tour guide about it, and he beamed with pride, saying it was part of a campaign to whip the place into shape to be more tourist friendly.
El Salvador was the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this last place I traveled, and I had a great time. From what I hear, it was extremely dangerous a few years ago, and now it’s fairly safe. The tourism sector is still developing though. Yes but I’d almost be afraid to go and be arrested and imprisoned for something dumb lol (apparently /s needed). Their prisons are no joke since they cleaned up their entire country by arresting more than 72,000 gang members. I met loads of people in Mexico recently who have travelled or are travelling to El Salvador and they said they same thing. Didn’t realise how high the numbers were though, that’s kinda crazy. *alleged gang members – there has been practically no due process and human rights organizations have highlighted numerous HR violations and wrongful imprisonments.
Slovenia and Croatia are overrun, yes. The remaining ones are still relatively empty bar returning expats. Having visited all of Ex-Yugo plus Albania, the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this only really crowded place I went to was Ljubljana. Rwanda. Things have drastically improved since 1994. Having drinks by the pool at the Hotel des Milles Collines was surreal, though. Very clean country too! I’m surprised lots of Africa isn’t on here, huge swaths have changes dramatically over the last 30 years. Rwanda, Angola, Mozambique, and Namibia all had some level of war during this period but are relatively safe to travel to now (yes, there are still areas within these countries that are considered unsafe, but overall they are fine). My 82 year old grandmother frequently travels solo and loved Bhutan! I’m thinking about going soon, any recommendations?
Is it difficult to visit? I used to work with Bhutanese and Nepali refugees and the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this pics they had were always so beautiful It’s a “We don’t really want any tourist at all” price and I honestly don’t blame them for making it so expensive. It weeds out the riff raff Many people with Nepali ancestry who lived in Bhutan and were considered Bhutanese until their citizenship was stripped in 1954. Nepal wouldn’t take them so they were put in displacement camps. Like 60,000 people came to the US between 2008 and 2012. Uzbeckistan – I believe it used to be difficult for traveler’s to get in and visit and there were warnings about police targeting foreigners and fining them for small things. I went to Uzbeckistan in 2019 and it was amazing. It was a really easy place to visit, they have a really good high speed train that takes you across the country and it was one of the most friendliest places I’ve ever been. Absolutely fine, you won’t get a posh dinner or anything with a lot of spice but it’s filling and I never worried about hygiene. When I was in Bukhara I booked a table at a place called National house, it’s essentially someone’s home and they open up their dining room to guests a few nights each week, it was a fantastic experience. I’d recommend make a trip to the middle-of-nowhere Nukus to see the Aral sea and the ship graveyard. You can then easily find a share cab to the silk road town of Khiva, stay inside the town itself and enjoy it at the dawn when tourists are gone. Bukhava is extremely touristic you will struggle to find somewhere to eat I don’t like it. Samarkand is fine All of central Asia was like that. They were “you can’t get there from here” countries. I haven’t been to Uzbekistan yet, but I’ve been to Georgia and Armenia. Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are planned for the not too distant future.
I’m just planning a trip to Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia for this summer, I originally planned to do it in 2020 but had to cancel I’ve thought about trying to go someday in the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this future. Uzbek cuisine is one of my favorites. Were the historic sites well preserved? Yes they have preserved them very well and got the balance right between making it easy for tourists whilst protecting the sites integrity Arrived in Tashkent and stayed in a Raddison Blue, spent 2 nights there. The metro is visually amazing, it’s worth travelling to the different stations to look at them. Spend time exploring the city rather than just thinking of it as a place to start your trip as there are some really interesting things to see including one of the worlds oldest Korans
At the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this time there was no high speed rail to Khiva but I believe that there is now a high speed rail link. It’s meant to be amazing I booked first class trains for most of the trips but could only get standard class on the trip from Bukhara to Tashkent. First class is nice but standard class is good so you don’t really need to spend extra on first class. The trains were comfy and clean and modern and plenty of room for luggage At the time I booked it was only possible to buy train tickets in advance via a tour operator. The mark up is high but the cost is relatively affordable and they provided a very good service. You might now be able to directly purchase tickets in advance now but if you want the name of the company I used I’ll try to find it People say the food is not very good but I don’t agree, it’s just that you won’t get a posh dinner. It’s tasty and filling
It was very safe and people enjoy talking to tourists, lots of times children would come up to me and ask to practice their English. I took a class on Central Asia on a whim that was taught by a Kyrgyz professor and it totally piqued my interest in the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this whole Central Asia region to travel. Apart from the Bride Kidnappings in Kyrgyzstan it sounds amazing. She cooked plov and lagman for us and brought it to class. I would live to do that trip. I’m from a Lithuanian background myself, last time I visited was as a little kid lol but I’d definitely like to return. That is if Putin doesn’t start some shenanigans there. Lithuania is probably the safest out of the baltic states from Russian invasion as the Soviet Union wasn’t able to ethically cleanse a quarter of the population like they did in Latvia and Estonia
El Salvador is mentioned in op. Was there in November and it felt safe. We did spend most of the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this time on the beach but lots of foreigners and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. We did spend a few evening hours in San Salvador at again it felt fine. Iraq. It’s totally safe in the north and perfectly fine in the rest if you have a guide, and it’s only been a year that they’ve offered tourist visas in arrival. The UK FCO (which is usually pretty reasonable in it’s tolerance levels) advises against all travel to the majority of Iraq and all but essential travel to the Northern tip. I know the US is typically overkeen in their ‘don’t go’ recommendations, but I personally probably wouldn’t go against UK FCO advice. The difference between like 2015 or 2017 and now is massive. The KRI in the north is totally fine to go around on public transportation and take taxis or busses anywhere you want to go.
In federal Iraq (Mosul, Baghdad, Basra, etc.) I would feel perfectly safe going around on my own but I speak a bit of Arabic and know the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this context. For an average tourist you would just need to be with a guide who can help to get you around and it would be absolutely fine. I’ve been all around, but I have to say Hatra in Ninewa and Mosul are the two absolute highlights of Iraq and barely any tourists to be found around. As I mentioned in another comment unless your vacation takes you to the Jazira desert between Anbar and Syria or the mountains behind Makhmur you have nothing to even think about in terms of ISIS threat. Just got back from Iraq. Went for religious reasons. It’s an interesting place but don’t know if it’s tourist ready tbh.
The prime minister is Mohammed Shia al Sudani. Kind of seems like an empty suit, but hasn’t caused any serious issues. It’s based on the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this Lebanese system where powers are broken down by religion/ethnicity although it is also a parliamentary democracy so people vote for the parties that they want. The President is Kurdish, the PM is Shia and the head of parliament is Sunni. All of them are corrupt to the core, but it just means that services like healthcare, education, roads, etc. aren’t functioning as well as they should be, not that it is unsafe for anybody to go there. ISIS is basically hiding in tunnels in the desert or on the mountains so they aren’t a cause of any concerns at this point. I would be more worried about the PMUs (militias) than ISIS these days, but in general you don’t really need to interact with them and most likely all that would happen would be that they would ask a bunch of questions to your guide at a checkpoint and then wave you through. I went there in 2000. My parents and their friends, being of the Vietnam War era, could never imagine going there for a vacation. And probably would shudder that the Mekong Delta was my favorite part.
Deployed there in 2012 and 2015. Went back recently with my spouse as a civilian tourist and Baghdad was tourist friendly and the Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Vols Shirt and I love this reconstruction was amazing. Uzbekistan – hard to get visas before, now no visa needed for EU. Cheap prices, tourism is slowly picking up and it can boom since the sights are amazing. Bhutan – always very difficult to visit, now the prices dropped to half temporarily to boost tourism and even independent tourism is now possible in some places. Algeria – very difficult visas and dubious safety situation until recently, beautiful country which is now easier to visit than ever. I’m not aware of any developed country that says it’s even remotely fine to go to Yemen currently, including Socotra. The FCO says rather bluntly “If you’re in Yemen, you should leave immediately” Part of Yemen is indeed in war but Socotra is pretty isolated from that. Socotra is run by STC, one of the forces in Yemen, backed by UAE. That’s the only possible way. It’s very difficult to get to Sana’a now and even if you manage, there’s no way from Sana’a to Socotra. I ask because I have no interest in returning to Sana’a. Let’s just say I’ve seen more than enough of it to suit me.
