Different methods have different end points and differing goals. It can get confusing when people do not mention what method they are writing about. outside of meditation practice – the Teaching Is A Super Power T-Shirt but in fact I love this goal is to live calm and at ease ie to live an active life whilst in a state of calm and ease. The calm and ease comes from the experience of mental stillness inside of meditation practice. Other method shave different ideas based on the differing type of meditation they practice and in some cases as they have a religious basis. Meares was an eminent western psychiatrist and his method can be practice in the absence of religious faith or alongside an active religious life. You will get very different answers. For me it’s to stop the autopilot that runs my life. Examine my behaviour and make changes to my life. A replacement for psychedelics if you like.

Teaching Is A Super Power T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

I wouldn’t set a “goal”, if you do, then you’ve defeated the Teaching Is A Super Power T-Shirt but in fact I love this whole “point” (tricky wording, once again) of meditation. Meditate for the sake of meditating. Just notice the thoughts “ah, a thought” and return to focusing on the breath. If a train of thought attempts to sweep you away (cue anxiety, or distracted feeling, bodily tension), just…take a deep breath and refocus on the breath. That is all. Eventually the thoughts become less gripping because you are able to know that they come and go, without attaching to them. If we ask ourselves by examining the thoughts as they arise, is this thought of any value to me right now. You’ll get a clear view of thoughts. Sometimes thinking is necessary mostly in pragmatic situations. Physical situations involving plans, construction, problem solving etc. When thoughts are concerned with imaginary psychological situations with fear in the background pushing them forward, you can comfortably ignore them completely. All thoughts on self concern are pointless. All worry about what might or might not be are pointless. All thoughts of regret or guilt from the past are not serving you. You’ve learned your lessons now move on.
