But the Teaching Future Artists Vintage Sunset T-Shirt in contrast I will get this vast majority of people haven’t. They assume it’s the crime ridden hell hole that is was in the 70s and 80s but it has turned around unbelieveably. Excellent music scene, great food, world class museums, and more. Mobile, Alabama. It’s the least Alabama place you can visit. Original home of Mardi Gras and older than NOLA, founded in 1702. Beautiful historic homes with miles and miles of huge oak-lined streets. I have lived in San Diego the past 12 years but grew up in Iowa City and Coralville. My wife and I visited last October. I hadn’t been there since I moved in 2011. Despite growing up there, I’d never been inside Prairie Lights bookstore. We checked it out on a cold October afternoon. We checked out some of the historic houses/sections of downtown Iowa City.

We also had some great tacos in Coralville at La Mexicana (every single customer there was Mexican and I was the only gringo lol) but obviously it wasn’t as good as the tacos here in San Diego. Definitely feel Iowa City is moreso overlooked than underrated though. Most people who end up visiting Iowa City realize what a cool, progressive city it is. I also likened it as the Austin, TX of Iowa. A liberal, progressive city in an otherwise Republican state. It’s about a 1.5 hour drive south of Portland. Very Boho/hippie. Lots of art and artists alike. A lot of outdoor activities. Some of the best hiking, fishing, and camping in the country, all within a 20 mile radius. It’s nestled in the Willamette Valley, with mountians on side and the coast on the other side. Great food and breweries. Tons of festivals nearby. Above average K-12 school system. Great university. Low crime. A decent nightlife scene. Virtually no traffic. No sales tax. People aren’t as politically pretentous as they are in Portland. There are a large amount of surrounding towns that are considered “country”. Small towns with smalltown people. I grew up there, so naturally I wanted out. But there is really no reason to leave. I can see myself going back home to raise a family one day.
