If someone told me they were a conservative I would be annoyed, same as if they said they were a progressive, a democrat, or centrist. Its all meaningless party compliance. I often lean towards a lot of progressive legislation around social topics while leaning to conservative and socialist policies economically and if someone told me they were a centrist without any nuance or policy thoughts I would just assume you didn’t partake in politics but still voted. Worse than that, you’re a centrist because you are too much of a coward to stick your neck out about anything, too scared of being wrong or disliked to state an opinion. At absolute worst, you’re a centrist because you just don’t care that much. You lead a comfortable, frictionless life, so everything takes on a purely intellectual character.
