For anyone who might be interested, there’s a writing technique called Expressive Writing (and a book by the Stranger things movie poster 2023 shirt Additionally,I will love this same name) where you just write everything on your mind for 20 minutes. From there, you can reread it and underline words that stand out to you as important for some reason, and use those key words for more writing and exploration. I feel like that provides a bit of a framework/technique for doing the sort of reflection you’re talking about. Oooo I like that idea. I have found that writing after meditation, the flow state just sticks, and the words just come out. It’s so nice!! The yogic traditions meticulously parses forms of meditative awareness. To name just two terms, sabijah samadhi or “awareness with seed,” are mental events that generate more mental events. Some helpful, some carrying wisdom. Importantly these things come to you, as objects of meditation “shine forth.” It’s not you thinking or actively processing or cogitating that allows these seeds to germinate. Nirbijah samadhi is without seed, empty leaving no mental impressions. With our love of ranking and levels so many westerners see this and say “oh, so the cool people are doing nirbijah right? Yeah, that’s what I do too, totally.” But the tradition doesn’t list sabijah as a distraction or obstacle (it meticulously catalogues those too) it’s just another phenomenon encountered in meditation. We impose so much ranking and judgment on traditions where they weren’t there in the first place. Also, the founders of all our traditions would be so amused at all the householders debating who’s embodying their tradition. The answer, none of use, we’re all householders.

Add the Stranger things movie poster 2023 shirt Additionally,I will love this fact that there aren’t very many words for that thing you just experienced to use in a translation, the fact we never learn HOW to communicate subtle spiritual concepts beyond “Just believe” and the New Age BS called “manifesting” aka a shortcut for the same imprecise ‘unquestioning faith’ espoused by Abrahamic regions. “Just feel don’t think” seems very spiritual but just… isn’t. Sure you have to use feeling in some sense but not ALL THE TIME, and translating feeling is HARD, and few have the time or the insight or practice to convert feeling into words, given that we’re kept stupid by the educational systems we grew up with. Feeling your way through things represents a kind of progress in a time when we’re so focused on rationality, systems and translations and act like those represent some reality unto themselves when they are just literally air. Furthering this problem is the fact that Engish is a terrible language to communicate spiritual concepts- since English is literally meant to subvert that entire idea and focus on the material and technical language of the merchants and colonizers to run that country- and so few of us speak Sanskrit, the most spiritual (and natural, according to NASA) language available, you can see why there is a problem just in the initial setting.
