Why can’t you donate to the Stitch and Angel Have a lucky shirt also I will do this receiving end personally? I’m never a fan of paying for a company’s advertising (which is what this is unless the company matches your effort to double the donation). Good job but personally I’d do it anonymously. If anyone at your workplace is like me I’d see it as disingenuous if you made no attempt to keep it private. It feels great to humble brag but personally I think it’s better to keep these things private. Also as a side note, in future I recommend donating directly to a children’s charity who provide this service such as the Toy Appeal. This is because you can claim tax back on your donation, claiming back the tax that you paid on your income and adding it to the total donation. This means your money goes further. Not only that but some of these charities will have deals with toy manufacturers and will buy in bulk, further reducing the cost of toys and increasing the amount of toys they can supply to disadvantaged children. Crazy that you’re working with these people who are so disadvantaged and the work place is asking their peers to donate rather than review pay structures so people aren’t struggling so much…

You are so lovely. You’ve had good advice but I just wanted to say, thank you for being such a lovely human. This was such a great thing to start the Stitch and Angel Have a lucky shirt also I will do this day by reading. Who cares if others think your trying to one up, fuck them, if they don’t like it do better or simply relish the fact you guys are in a position to help others or respectively. Yes that’s mental to spend out but you do it because you want to help, even to say you’ll try do it anonymously, you deserve all the credit and thanks coming. You donate to donate/support/help not get the most brownie points. You are amazing and for this deserve a fantastic festive period yourself. Speaking as someone who has been a single parent at one point. This is a lovely thing to do. Back then Christmas filled me with sheer and utter dread. Was such a stressful time trying to afford a “good Christmas ” Take most of them to a social services agency or shelter so they can be distributed to the most needy families. You’re going to make a lot of children happy! Good for you! I would never judge anyone for donating, even if it’s more than I would or could donate myself. Just maybe don’t brag or make too much of a show about it: the act of donating should be about the recipient or the cause, not about the giver or the people around the giver. Good on you OP Are there any local schools in the more deprived areas of your town? The one I work at coordinates gifts for children who won’t get anything otherwise. Also Dunelm are doing a Christmas tree scheme where people buy a gift from a tag on a tree in-store for people who won’t receive anything, get in touch with your local store, I’m sure they would be chuffed with a large donation of toys. Barnardo’s do something similar I think, and so do our local food bank.
