The far fetched ones feel a center is a traitor, which is stupid, but that is the reason. The loud mouths get the attention, us other centers don’t yell at you for being center.

It’s because centrists are not so easily manipulated. A centrist is supposed to say, “Ok, yeah I understand that this piece of legislation looks like insert opposite form of government, but that doesn’t mean it’s automatically bad.” They’re to look at the merits and downsides of the legislation and decide if the good outweighs the bad. So, there’ll be times when they’re in favor of legislation that comes from the left, and other times legislation that comes from the right, because both sides eventually bring up something that looks promising. That’s what’s so scary about centrists, because you don’t automatically know where they stand, because they’re always shifting. They’ll agree with the legislation that they think ‘s right, regardless of where it came from.
