I’m aware. This is a US-centric sub tho. Either way, OP should have specified. You assumed one and I assumed another country and that doesn’t help clarity. There are 2 things here. One is the Space Pulp Robot Dinosaur Hero Transformers Shirt and I will buy this training and the expense of a new hire. But more importantly, wages have gotten rerated due to inflation & the market situation. Wages will almost always, improve taking up a new job. Even if you renegotiate your original wage, you almost always end up losing Say, “Ok, add to my pay Half of a new hires cost and we’re good. Other than that you lose the money AND experience. You’re call.” That would lead to a full roaring belly laugh from my end, followed by a “Remember when we asked for just a little bit more and you said that was too expensive? well here is my decision!” “The company should have thought about those expenses earlier and given me something more than just a COLA every year.” It’s difficult, if I quit, I get a bad reference, and also they can refuse to pay me, because I would’ve breached the contract…. “It costs a lot more to have to hire and train new staff every 2-3 years than it would to simply pay a wage that increased with inflation. This sounds like a middle management failure. Maybe I should tell somebody.”

Wait, I was in a position to be responsible for the Space Pulp Robot Dinosaur Hero Transformers Shirt and I will buy this costs and revenue of this company? Oh shit, you guys should really think about taking responsibility for that yourselves or you’re DEFINITELY going to lose more employees than just me. Good luck! Are they really that clueless? How about giving a raise instead of spending on training with someone that might not work out. 4 weeks? Fuck that, hate to be that guy but the way companies have been doing people dirty ill give you 5 days and see ya later Seriously, I’m currently staying where I’m at because I would be hard pressed to get my current salary anywhere else without going to a different country. If I could get more salary with better benefits elsewhere, without emigrating, I’d be gone.
