I would love to be called up, my problem is that there is no easy public transport from my village to the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this Court. It would be 3 separate buses, and the earliest bus from my village is at 8am. I don’t know whether the Court would allow the expense of an Uber there and back. I am retired (under state pension age, my only income is my employers pension of £400 per month. I can’t afford to pay £20 each way for an Uber – it might even be dearer than that. That being said IF they will cover the cost, I would jump at the chance. I actually rang them up before I finished my Law Degree to see if I could volunteer. They have since changed the criteria so that even a judge can get called up. The case i sat on was supposed to last 2 days, went for selection and there were 80 people, over 40 of them said they knew either the accused or the victim which was just a way to skip it. Of the balance a few had notes from work to say they were needed and I got selected as the last member. The guy was up for grievous bodily assault, he and his girlfriend had been out drinking and had an argument, on the way home they had passed some of their old school friends and the girl went over to catch up, one of them was someone the guy had picked on in school, 10 years before but was friendly with the girl, when the boyfriend told her to come on, they made some kind of comment and the bullied guy touched the accused girlfriends arse, he was just messing and the guy attacked him, beating him on the ground and weirdly, biting his face on the cheek, like a dog.

It was broken up and the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this police called, they charged him with assault and it was upgraded to grievous bodily harm. 6 months later it was court time and the defence barrister spent his time trying to justify it, saying that the guy he assaulted was in the wrong just as much even though he hadn’t tried to defend himself, the assaulter was from a family with no dad, he had only even been accused of things before and never convicted, the girl was still with him, he had a job where he was responsible for animals and had never mistreated them. He then tried to disprove that the injuries were grevious because there was no evidence on the assaulted face now and it was all being overblown, and then he hinted that the police had gone hard on him because he was known to them and his family had problems before. He also hinted that the police officer arresting him had made a derogatory remark about him. It was all mad bullshit, and when they were finished we were sequestered away and got instructions that we could give a verdict of guilty unanimously or a majority if we felt common assault was OK.
So we all sat in the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this room and it was 1215, we’d been told if we went beyond 1pm there would be a break but it was already a day in the log, and we were expected to be free the following day for deliberations as well. The foreperson, a middle aged woman just asked the group, is there anybody who thinks they would be voting not guilty, and no one said they would, and then she asked “and grevious ?” And one man said he’d like the definition of it again, which the clerk of the court did. And he was happy with that So the foreperson said “well, its nearly lunch, and I’m starving, I heard the food in the hotel is food. Let’s at least get lunch out if them”, we went, came back, voted and that was it. Not a Jusy Service story… but do you have a hearing aid from the NHS or privately? If it’s NHS you should be able to go to your hospitals hearing services department for a service. If it’s faulty it should get replaced, but it may just be that the tubing/cord needs changing!

About Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt

I was nhs for most of my life but gone private now (specsavers) – trying to fix it but I think it’s more internal! I’ve always wanted to do it but my wife’s experience really put me off and has made me worried about ever being put infront of a jury. Trial was two weeks before Christmas and the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this case was a woman with mental health issues and a history of making false allegations, the defendant had a history of allegations made against him but had acquitted each time. The case was one of sexual assault. Several times my wife and two other jury members had to explain the concept to the rest of the jury, the phrase “no smoke without fire” was used regularly and someone wanted to put forward a guilty verdict on the basis of “he looks like the type.” I think they needed a unanimous verdict but because my wife and the two other jurors had reasonable doubt they were berated because people would have to change their plans over Christmas, caring not a jot for the future of the young man on trial. I think it got thrown out.
The jury system is a joke. I honestly can’t say what would replace it, but my experience was that it was a circus with two actors prosecuting and defending. Then there was a personality contest during the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this deliberation. I was eventually discharged as I told the usher I knew the brother of the accused. This was true, but as I couldn’t remember his name, I had to remain part of the jury until I gathered enough evidence to prove I knew him. I know this sounds made up, but it isn’t. Made up stories make sense. Actually- an additional question – am I invalid if a sibling has served time? I do kinda want to do it, but wondering if I’d need to disclose that at some stage. Honestly just thinking it out of paranoia – it was a horrible situation to deal with anyway. Mildly wishing I hadn’t mentioned it now! I have had 4 jury’s pass verdict over me, still no convictions. From my side of the court I can only say you will not be told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. That is just something that is said.
And the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this Judge is mostly concerned about whether the procedures are followed , with a side issue about who is paying for it all. I went into my first trial full of hope and expectation. The truth will out and justice will be served. I went into my 4th trial a cynical old git (something that has overflowed into my life in general). If you do “volunteer” then construct a timeline of events and look for contradictory items. A person lying is doing it for a reason. The first was a pub fight, but they started it and my only crime was winning. The next two were completely fabricated by my accusers. The last was mistaken identity (a mate had some guns and was followed to my house by the police, he left and I was arrested hours later).
Not sure why people are down voting this. Thought we’d long since moved past believing just people “pinkie promise” over their imaginary friend book that they won’t be the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this lying bastards they are the rest of the time… I’ve done it once, around 12 years ago. It was brilliant. I was on 3 cases… each one was unique. I met a person who I am still friends with. I’d don’t again in a instant. You don’t have to come up with some bullshit reason. If you don’t want to do it just say you don’t want to, you aren’t interested, you don’t think you can be impartial because you can’t pay attention and you’ll probably just say guilty. If you are honest with them up front they won’t bother. (If you change your mind halfway through, now you’ve wasted the Court’s time and money, so bend over) They aren’t looking to fill courts with people who don’t want to be there and they can’t prove contempt of court, if they tried to force that on everyone who objected the entire legal system would back up with contempt of court appeals.
Also if you charge people who already don’t want to co-operate with contempt of court you’d better hope you have a prison cell free to throw them into, because my ass isn’t turning up to a court date if you give me bail for it. This is exactly why they don’t take the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this nuclear option of contempt of court-ing everyone who doesn’t comply, that’s a last resort usually only reserved for the opposite problem (people lying because they DO want to serve on a jury when really they shouldn’t, most recently that I heard of was a lady serving on a trial who didn’t disclose her sister used to be married to the defendant or something…) Turns out your system of hoping people who don’t obey the system will obey the punishments of the system for not obeying the system…doesn’t really work. Go ask a UK lawyer or something if you don’t believe me, go on r/ UK legal advice or something there’s loads of dodging jury duty posts on there, proven lawyers are saying the exact same thing, they don’t WANT people who DON’T WANT to be there!
I will do – she works for Landmark Chambers. I’m sure she’s got a better idea of how the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this legal system works than some random nobody on Reddit. Sure, a “QC” at Landmark Chambers. Just as you’ll “definitely” get the truth off of her if she does exist…just as you’ll “definitely” come back here to apologise when she says you’re wrong, there’s no chance you’ll just be upset and disappear, or come back and lie because you can’t accept you’re wrong… Was called years back. Sat in the canteen waiting to be selected, wasn’t. Released about 3pm, came back next day. Repeat all week Read a book, got bored & was glad of week away from work. The time came and each night they text me at 5pm (this was while most places still had some COVID restrictions but after lockdown) to say I wasn’t needed and on the Friday emailed me thanking me for my co-operation but they’ve dismissed me.
I was gutted, I didn’t go into the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this courts at all. My manager also had jury service this week and last, she got called into the court each day and sat around and was released around 3pm each day, she was told most cases that week had plead guilty so no need for a trial. I was called up at 18 yrs of age. I was so excited. When I got there we were all split into groups. I sat there waiting to be called to a case. A few hours go by and my group is called to the court and judge explains that he’s going to pick 12 names and that will be the jury. I wasn’t picked. So, back to the room to wait again. A few more hours go by and we’re given a card, told to ring the number tomorrow to see whether we’ll be needed. We were then sent home. I rang the following day to be told my group was no longer needed. And that was that.
I did it last year. It was a fraud case where a guy was scamming old ladies out of their savings and it was incredibly boring evidence. Lasted 5 days I think and it turned out we came to the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this right verdict because once it was over and we were dismissed, I looked the guy up and he’d done it before and been jailed for it, came out and did it all over again. I have no idea what his sentence was in our case but I would love to know. There was a number on the wall to call for more info after but I didn’t make a note of it. 1st 2 were cut and dry as camera footage clearly showed what happened, defense focused on “yeh but they started it” weirdly that was the jist of both defenses. 3rd case was trickier, it was all on camera since it was in a prison hallway, but he was found not guilty. Judge gave instructions as to what they needed us to decide, and 1st point was “did the guard use correct take down techniques” – answer was no, due to size of prisoner relative to small older guard. So even though prisoner clearly did the crime, due to circumstance he had to be found not guilty. Seeing the prisoner sitting there smirking like he’d won a victory was quite a conflicting experience. The upside was, he had many other convictions so he wasn’t being released, our verdict essentially meant he wouldn’t get extra time, this time anyway.
It’s hard to stay focused at times. For you the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this jury, you may hear essentially the same evidence multiple times, depending on number of witnesses, and the prosecution asks the same questions of each one, essentially confirming each others stories the defence will ask questions to try and find discrepancies, but when you hear it 6 times, it’s hard for you to stay alert, especially over the course of several days. Personally I started pinching the skin on the back of my hand, some others on one of my jury groups were stepping on their own toes with the heeled shoes… I’ve never been called up, but I’d be petrified of falling asleep. I have the worst attention span in the world also, so I don’t think I’d be a very good person to be called up.
Take a book. My first day of jury service had me arrive at 08:30, i didn’t get assigned to a case until 4pm. And at that time it was just swearing in and then leaving for the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this day. There was a lot of waiting around in general, hours, even when on a case as delays happen. I only got on one case in the near two weeks. An alleged strangling between a couple. We heard from both parties, a police officer and the victims mum. We heard the whole thing over the course of three odd days. Then it took us around fifteen minutes to find him not guilty. From the sounds of it they had both been drinking, had an argument etc. Unfortunately there was nothing really to go on, just he said she said. Even the officers who attended the scene after couldn’t spot anything wrong with her. Whether it happened or not, I don’t know, there was just so little to go on I’m surprised it got to court.
After that, more waiting around. It wasn’t a bad experience, a little nerve racking with the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this thoughts of “what if I mess up or get it wrong” but you just have yo pay attention and use your best judgement. There are a dozen people in the room to add their perspective on the information in front of them. I was called up around 10 years ago. It was fascinating. One case was criminal damage, and the second was a stabbing where the victim thankfully survived. I was elected the foreman, we all put our names into a hat and my name was pulled out. I’m still friends with two people I met on that jury. I would happily do it again We also never made it to the courtroom. We were called in twice to the second room for selection and then got shuffled back into the main room both times before we’d even selected members. I did it last year, I was so excited when I got my letter through and even though I’d still like to be called up again I’d feel more nerves this time.
I went in there feeling quite confident as I’m a big true crime fan and I didn’t think it’d effect me like it did. I had a week long rape case, we found the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this defendant guilty which I believe he was and we all voted he was. But it was still a difficult decision. His family were there supporting him the whole week, all of them constantly in tears, so it was very emotional and hard to watch/not look at. I actually started the week by saying I could be the foreman but by the Friday I asked for someone else to do it, as I couldn’t face his family looking at me saying a guilty verdict. Second week was spent waiting around and being sent home usually after lunch time before being told we weren’t needed anymore on the Weds afternoon.
I’ve been called up a couple times. The trials were for absolutely mundane stuff. I think one was a fight and another one was shoplifting. I ended up not being selected both times. I’ve been in once. Generally it was a whole day of sitting around and waiting and finally being called in right at the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this end of the day, the case was regarding a prisoner who lashed out and absolutely leathered a guard. On the face of it things seemed pretty clear cut, however over the course of the day I had a case of rapid onset COVID. I felt worse and worse the longer I was on the tram home, just about grabbed an energy drink from the corner shop and collapsed into bed feeling like death for the next two weeks. I did jury service a few years ago and found it an incredibly interesting experience – I wouldn’t worry at all about mis-hearing or misunderstanding – the whole court was great at explaining things very directly and clearly plus you’ll have a whole discussion about the details so ample opportunity to clarify things. You could theoretic even ask the judge if a point could be clarified and I believe they’ll accommodate that kinda thing
The first case was a guy who broke into a flat whilst the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this occupant was asleep, he stole her bank card and then went and tried to withdraw money with it They had him leaving his flat on cctv a short time before the burglary, had him in the immediate area of the burglary, had him turning his coat inside out before returning to his flat, had him trying to use the card at the cash point. He claimed that he was the guy who tried to use the bank card, but not the guy who broke into the flat to get it. It seemed pretty open and shut but there was a lot of discussion about the plausibility of him being some part of network in which one person breaks in to a property and then somebody else tries to use the bank card, but ultimately decided that all the cctv evidence was pretty compelling and came to a guilty verdict. The second case was a guy who broke into a girls flat and stabbed her dog (dog was OK!). Was pretty horrible- the police responded to the sound of broken glass where he’d broken in, found the dog in the kitchen and followed a trail of blood to the girls bedroom where he was hiding in the wardrobe with a knife.
The girl was out for the Southern Culture On The Skids Tour On The December Tour 2024 Poster Crazy Santa Art Classic Shirt In addition,I will do this evening thankfully- the trial was basically whether he was there with intent to commit a sexual assault. He claimed he was hiding in the wardrobe from the police. That’s as far as that one went before, for some legal reason, they decided they needed to change something about the trial so we were dismissed and was going to go to re-trial at a later date. A bit of a dell boy at work got called up. First day they checked if any of jurors knew the defendant, he did. Was told to come back the next day. Next day, again they checked to see if any jurors knew the next defendant. Again it was someone he knew them. He was told not to bother coming back again. I’ve been called up twice, first time in 2000 where I sat around a lot waiting, got on a case in second week which was dismissed after a few days due to a witness not wanting to testify so that was nearly 2 weeks wasted.
