Ok, but some covers are better. Like sixpence none the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this richer’s cover of there she goes. Like I understand the La La’s originally wrote it but the cover just makes me smile every time I hear it. I prefer Siouxsie’s version of The Passenger, though I like Iggy Pop’s original as well. I understand I’ll get massacred for this, but Limp Biskit’s cover of Behind Blue Eyes is better than the original. The tempo shift in the original from dirge to pop is just too damn jarring. Some covers are better (I prefer the Lightfoot version of Me and Bobby McGee), but it’s still good to recognize the original artist. Same with Where Did You Sleep Last Night. When you look at 60s music and earlier, it’s plenty of covers of old music that nobody knows the original creators. Still kinda funny that the iconic version is the Animals, who are a British band, while the song is iconically about an American city I’m sorry but nothing beats my friend who thought God save the Queen was a song by Queen, as it was the last track on his cd… I at least have a flimsy alibi of being raised by literal cultists so I was (and still am) woefully ignorant of most pop culture history, but oh god, being laughed at by my friends for that was so paiiiiiiinful.
Solence Angels Calling shirt: A Provocative Statement in Modern Fashion
I thought “I’m a Believer” was commissioned by Dreamworks for Smash Mouth after getting good audience test ratings on their usage of “All Star” so in comparison your mix up is acceptable The Neil Diamond version from September Morn is my favorite, but the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this vibe there is so different that it’s hard to compare. I agree that the Smash Mouth version is better than the original Monkees recording. They Might Be Giants has a tendency to put out covers of some really interesting old songs, haha. Some other good covers they’ve done are “Why Does The Sun Shine?”, “New York City”, and “Yeh Yeh”. Honestly some are understandable, such as Jimi Hendrix’s cover of All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan wrote it)
i had the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this less than jake cover of “surrender” on my playlist for like a year before my friend heard it come on and recognized it as a cover. i had no idea, and tbh still vastly prefer it why do people treat this as such a bad thing? (genuine question, i don’t listen to music so i’m not aware of the discourse) Songs that get covered are usually classics, and if it’s a classic you can bet your ass there are people out there who are willing to throw fists in its defence. while alone: oh i can’t concentrate on the music while listening to it and doing something else, the same with audiobooks For most songs most people couldn’t care less, but in this specific case it’s a cover that is almost universally hated, even by fans of the new band in question. On top of that it’s a cover of one of the most well liked and known songs by a band that is up there among the Beatles and Rolling Stones as one of the most influential bands of all time. Because it feels like you’re discrediting the original artist by claiming their song was written by someone who actually adapted it. Which cover are you talking about? I’ve never heard anything other than the Kana Hanazawa version from Bakemonogatari (the one used in memes) that’s the original, and the only one I’ve heard as well so I’m also not familiar with what they’re talking about

It doesn’t help that if you don’t listen to them back to back they sound the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this same, but if you do you’ll notice things like the original’s first line is more “whispery” than the cover. UB40’s red red wine is one of my dad’s favourite songs, blew his mind when i told him it was a neil diamond cover lol Their cover of “Can’ help falling in love” was my favorite song for years , and when I learned that it’s Elvis, nothing changed for me Mine was Under Pressure. MCR and The Used did a cover that I loved in high school. I had no way of knowing what the original was, but I had no idea it was a cover until a few years ago. So… The first time I ever heard Down with the Sickness was in Dawn of the Dead. And due to the Richard Cheese version being in the movie and Disturbed’s version only making it to the credits, I assumed the parlor music was the original version for years. I like them both equally for different reasons. Original has less “power” to it, but MAN the vocal harmonies are so good. I prefer the Disturbed cover as well. When I went to university I was talking with a music student who told me the song was shit, I figured he had a technical or performance reason for hating it so I asked him why. He changed the subject like what he said was irrefutable fact. I get defending the originals because otherwise there’d be no cover. But saying a cover is objectively shit just because it exists is arrogant and it flies in the face of music performers everywhere I’ve seen people do that with Limp Bizkit’s cover of Behind Blue Eyes and pretty much the only non-bad faith criticism I’ve seen is that the bridge is better on the original
Imo the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this disturbed version is more rock which kind of reduced the eerie feeling of the original. The original could work as somewhat a psychological horror film background music in the way the disturbed version can’t Music students, ironically, tend to be terrible judges of good music. They idolize and sanctify the music they like way too much. i didnt realize that every song in the movie was either a cover or a mash up of covers until i was older and started recognizing them. then i learned thats just what a jukebox musical is lol i like the movie version better myself Worse, thinking a song on the radio sounds different to how you remember it, and realising you only ever heard the Glee version.
I have a worse one for Bohemian Rhapsody: when I was taking Calc in high school, I thought “Calculus Rhapsody” was an original song when it’s literally just Bohemian Rhapsody with math-related lyrics. Living under a rock is an understatement ;-( I’ve had this happen several times. Thought Gold On The Ceiling was a Sweet original, and that Funnel of Love was a Demented Are Go song as well for some reason. For Motionless In White’s version of Somebody Told me and Bonsai Kitten’s version of Poison I at least thought “I’m pretty sure these are covers, but I can’t be bothered to look it up right now.” oof this hurts me as someone who grew up listening to The Cranberries and being a big fan of Dolores O’Riordan’s vocals. I was very upset when she passed away 🙁 highly recommend giving the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this band a listen, one of my favorite bands of all time 🙂
i didn’t know she passed.. her vocals were definitely a lot more fun to listen to than the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this metal covers i’d heard.. i’m sure listening to them is still worth it, what do you think is the best way to start? Linger and Dreams(?) are such good songs too! Dolores had an amazing voice, we lost a tremendous talent when she passed I worked at a convenience store where you could listen to your own music on a boombox. I had on Brian Eno’s Another Green World and the song Golden Hours came on. I had a bit of a line (it was beer-thirty in a very hipstery part of Portland Oregon in the early to mid 2010’s) and during the course of the song, a woman who had been humming along, got to the front of the line. She asked me who was playing and I answered Brian Eno. She was then like “Oh cool, have you ever heard the original?” This really confused me, because I knew for a fact that for one, this album was a sort of ground-breaking experimental pop/rock/ambient album that came out in the 70s, and for two, that the odds that any song on one of my favorite albums of all time contained a cover without my knowledge was very low. I just kind of stuttered out “Uhhh this has got to be the original. It’s Brian Eno.” She basically starts grilling me and rambling about “The American Analog Set,” a group I’d never listened to but knew was 2000s or later. I insisted that this was the original but couldn’t get her to back down, it just kinda kept going back and forth. I was flustered and trying to work and couldn’t make a good case for why I knew it was the original, but yeah.
Eventually the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this very nice fellow behind her in line blurted out like, “Lady, this is an original song by Brian Eno, it came out in 1975, your version is the cover.” She got suuuuper red in the face and backed down and just went quiet for the rest of the checking out stuff. She wasn’t like rude or anything, and I hold no ill will toward her. But the way she was soooo insistent that I was the musical dilettante, and she knew more, and then just that… painful embrassment she must’ve felt. If you care about music like that, it’s embarrassing enough to not know something is a cover. But to repeatedly insist in front of 15 other portland hipsters that a fairly beloved song from a sort of infamously good-amongst-music-curmudgeons album was a cover… I’ve been embarrassed before but not like that. She didn’t deserve it, but it was the only way things could’ve gone. She dug her own grave far deeper than anyone deserves to be buried.
Edit/note: (Know of course that none of this actually matters. I don’t judge people for their music knowledge or what they know / what they like. My partner has probably the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this best music taste of anyone I know, but they can’t remember the name of any artist let alone know like, music facts. But ultimately, I judge myself by for my music knowledge and know other people that do as well. So I can, while not judging others because who cares, imagine how i might judge myself in their shoes. I’ve also met and interacted with pleanty of judgy-about-music assholes to know that in many people’s conceptions, standards about music knowledge exist and are of some level of importance) “in the heat of the morning” by the last shadow puppets. didnt figure out it was a david bowie song originally until i was looking for lyrics. i felt so ashamed
I genuinely thought Bullet With Butterfly Wings was by Tribe Society for the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this longest time. I didn’t even know about Smashing Pumpkins as a band lol also the Hunger Games version of Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Lorde is high-key the best version of that song and I’m not sorry about that one I didn’t know Placebo’s “Running Up That Hill” was a cover since first hearing it in 2010 until it was featured in Stranger Things. I’m sorry I mixed up the name with another band I learned of in a similar way. Placebo is the correct one. Have a listen. Anthony Vincent(used to be TenSecondSongs on youtube) has a version I like. I didn’t realize he was doing it in the style of somebody else(what he does), because it was originally on YouTubeMusic, but I still like it. panic at the disco also thought their versions was the original one and last i heard they were disbanded and killed by the queer queens qlan (QQQ) I was so glad, that “Saints are comming” aren’t from U2 and Green Day. Because, let’s face it. Nobody likes, when bands you don’t like make cool song. So it turns out, they didn’t. World Is still in balance. I thought Behind Blue Eyes was by Limp Bizkit… I also discovered the song on a fanedit music video of House MD. Layers of cringe
It’s lyrically very different to almost all arctic monkeys songs. Cornerstone is almost similar but that’s about it. Johnny cash with hurt. Thought that it was his sons but then I heard that the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this guy who actually wrote the song said that it was cash’s song now Im a fan of hip-hop, and so many samples led me to serach up the original’s so much cool music from the 70’s and whatnot i wouldn’t have come across in my circle. Jimi Hendrix’s cover of All Along thr Watchtower was so good that Bob Dylan said he preferred Hendrix’s version to his own. He also said: “Strange how when I sing it, I always feel it’s a tribute to him in some kind of way.” I thought that the cover of Billie Jean by Chris Cornell was the original when I was a kid because I’d never heard the version by Micheal Jackson and my dad liked to listen to a lot of Chris Cornell when I was a kid so I just assumed that his version was the first because I didn’t have any reason to believe any differently. to an extent I still really enjoy his version, even though it has a completely different vibe from the original. People will say Sound of Silence by Disturbed, but I prefer their cover of Land of Confusion… which took my 10+ years to find out it was a cover and not their song lmao. People not knowing that Rihanna’s version of “New Person, Same Old Mistakes (titled “Same Old Mistakes) is a cover fills me with rage. I shit you not. If a person ever approached me and seriously told me they believed the Lil Uzi Vert cover of Chop Suey was the original I would likely kill them.
Sometimes the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this cover is more popular. Like in case of Hurt, or Torn. A number of people think Johnny Cash and Natalie Umbruglia did those. Nope. Nine Inch Nails and Ednaswap. Until very recently, I didn’t realise that “Renegades” by Rage Against The Machine is a whole album of covers. So many songs on there that I had assumed were original I know of one song in this case and i think everyone in the anime community still think to this day is the original, I am talking about the “only my railgun” op on YouTube which culminate at around 30M views, being indeed a cover whereas the real one have a few millions views Why did Panic At The Disco re-record Bohemian Rhapsody anyway? They add nothing to the song, nor do they interpret it newly. It is an almost note-by-note re-recording that is nothing but boring.
Listen to Grey DeLisle‘s version for example. It’s also arguable if it is good or interesting. But at least it’s original! I thought “Girl From the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this North Country” was by Altan when I was a kid. It just sounded like the exact kind of folksy phrasing they would use, and it fit with their style in general. I have a multi-layer one. I was listening to that new Meg Myers song Running Up That Hill one day on the radio. My older sister started singing along. I was surprised she’d know it but she said it was a cover of a Placebo song she’s known 20 years. I go on YouTube to check out the “original” and a bunch of comments are mentioning someone called Kate Bush… I was really surprised when I found out that all those bands weren’t just doing tributes to Weird Al’s brilliant and diverse polkas but in fact he was referencing them instead
I knew a bloke who would get really pissed off every time you’d refer to the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this Johnny Cash version of Hurt as the original. Which is hilarious because a) they’re both amazing songs and b) Trent Reznor said “yeah that’s his song now” after hearing the cover. Honestly i find it interesting when this stuff happens. Sometimes the vover just becomes the song and nobody thinks about the original, like gangsta’s paradise or talk dirty to me for example. I think we are seeing this live now with manneskin’s cover of somebody told me. I think a lot of people will say the first version they heard was the cover, and probably a lot of people didn’t bother looking for the og, or didn’t even know it was a cover. Eventually people will be surprised that somebody told me is a cover, just like gangsta’s paradise
My little brother thought Disturbed’s cover of “Land of Confusion” was the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this original, I made him listen to the Genesis song and he said it sucked and they stole from Disturbed No one gonna mention that “Mad World” by Gary Jules is a cover? Its the only version i heard until the original popped on my spotify 2 years ago. Its actually by Tears of Fears and goddamn the energy is very different between the two! Going from “wow what a sad song” to “wth is this upbeat theme i love it” gave me whiplash. I mean, sometimes the cover artist doesn’t exactly go out if their way to give original credit, like the current case with Valhalla Calling by Miracle of Sound! I remember when everyone was trying to shit on young kids getting into Kate Bush because Running Up That Hill was on Stranger Things, and I had thought it was a Placebo song the whole time
Fun factoid, when Norman Mailer invented the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this word “factoid” in the ’70s he meant it to mean ‘something that isn’t true but is accepted to be true’. It’s changed its meaning over time to become ‘a trivial fact’. Source When I was a kid I thought a Gatling gun was a gun that gatles, and then inferred from context that that must mean “to spin really fast.” Turns out it was invented by Richard Gatling. The Washington convention center is not named for George Washington nor for the city (Washington, DC). It is named for Walter E Washington, the city’s first mayor. “The Bluetooth wireless specification design was named after the king in 1997,[29] based on an analogy that the technology would unite devices the way Harald Bluetooth united the tribes of Denmark into a single kingdom.[30][31][32] The Bluetooth logo consists of a Younger Futhark bind rune for his initials, H (ᚼ) and B (ᛒ).[33]”
The Outerbridge crossing, a bridge connecting Staten Island to New Jersey, is named after Eugenius Outerbridge. Houston street in New York City, only because it’s named after a different guy than Houston, TX so it’s pronounced differently. It’s jarring the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this first time you get directions if you’re not from there. What’s funny was in the single series TV show “The Good Guys” with Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks it takes place in Dallas, Texas. At some point, they’re meeting someone or chasing someone on “Houston Street” and Colin Hanks pronounces it as “House-ton”. Even GPS frequently gets it wrong, which is disturbing. Sounds similar to Couch Street in Portland. Apparently it’s pronounced cooch, so locals will know immediately if you’re from there or not.
It’s funny because we rarely talk about the Solence Angels Calling shirt but in fact I love this base unit of the Bel, even though it’s a useful quantity. It’s perfectly common to talk about tens of dB, I’ve heard the Bel called a “decade” even. Naah I argue that doesn’t count because as an English speaker, it seems obvious it’s named after a person. It would be unexpected if the name is Firey Cocktail and it’s named after George Firey and not because it is firey. What isn’t obvious is the origin of the name is a ‘fuck you’ joke. Something about a Soviet Minister who downplayed firebombing against the Finns as food aid, so the Finns named this bomb Molotov Cocktail, the drink to go to with the food. The ocean is named after Dr. Hector Ocean, the man who invented the ocean. He invented it accidentally when he was experimenting with salt water and dropped some. You know when you’re being like, too careful, and your hands are shaking?
