I’ve lived in central London for 4 years, 2 in Hoxton and 2 in Fitzrovia. The worst thing I’ve ever dealt with (aggressive catcalling) was in the Slam Mark Jackson the turntie shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this middle of the day over in Lisson Grove (which I did not know was shit, just thought all of Marylebone was posh). I usually have headphones in so I can credibly ignore anyone trying to speak with me – I don’t have music on, or at least don’t have it on loud – and if there’s only one other person/group of people on the street, I’ll stay on the opposite side of the street. I always keep an eye out for shops or bars I can duck into if things feel weird. I stay on streets with heavy car traffic and lively pubs if I can. I walk super fast and always look like I’ve had a bad day. Dunno if any of this is helpful, but so far, it’s worked pretty well for me. I am jumpy and nervous af, but honestly don’t feel unsafe on London streets before midnight. It’s once the tube stops running and all the pubs close that it gets to be a little more deserted and creepy.

Get a decent torch. Doesn’t need to be crazy bright, 200 lumens is fine. Just broadcast to any would be muggers that you are paying good attention. What area is it in? Busy or quiet?
