Education has always been at the Skull Run more Worry Less shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this heart of designer Thebe Magugu’s work. Through his crisply-tailored, nostalgic clothes, Magugu provides a roadmap through his own personal journey growing up in the Northern Cape Province of Ipopeng, while also teaching and telling stories around post-aparthied South Africa. He aims to make these historical and cultural narratives accessible to the rest of the world and now, he’s taking that quest a step further. Today, Magugu is launching his label’s first e-commerce site, which is designed to look like an academic .edu platform. The site features his collections, categorized on the homepage to look like a stack of books, as well as his research on each of those collections. The shop section includes links to buy his fall 2020 ready-to-wear and accessories, along with some exclusive pre-fall 2020 items and a new unisex T-shirt line Magugu is calling “Extracurricular.” The tees are printed with a series of the designer’s original sketches, the first of which is a stick figure casually drinking tea while surrounded by flames—a nod to the difficult moment we’re all facing right now.
