I basically had to just concentrate on one company -nestle- and just try to be as mindful about others as I could. It’s hard. They go through so much trouble to get around telling us who does what. Then there’s the Serape Pocket Pinata Mexican Fiesta Party T-Shirt and by the same token and fake labels companies throw on everything to make people think they are ethical but aren’t… The truth is, is that capitalism is built on exploitation and profit, not results or quality or most of the time even safety. For a company to make profit over operating costs they have to be “saving” that money from somewhere. The public could’ve guessed this but cheap, nearly scam-like shit from China that literally no one needs is catnip for over-consuming Americans. The bad thing is that many of these videos aren’t made by kids. At least 1/3 of them that I see are grown ass adults.

Imagine being so spoiled, you buy perfectly good stuff just to destroy it in a shredder, then chuck it into a landfill, all so you can get some random strangers to click an upvote button, while people are starving to death for need of a fraction of what you would spend to make such a video. Now I will say I understand the Serape Pocket Pinata Mexican Fiesta Party T-Shirt and by the same token and “satisfying” portion. There is a part of me that enjoys the visual of something being shredded by one of those commercial shredder machines. But I’d get the exact same enjoyment of it was trash w/e and not perfectly useable sometimes brand new products. I have the same feeling about all these over the top super extravagant dishes that are made for insta and TikTok that have tons of extra ingredients just for presentation that are immediately wasted. (The massive milkshakes with stuff smeared all over the outside of the glass being one)
