Thing is, your company can say whatever the Santa Sleigh Reindeer Koala Bears Moon Xmas Gnomes Lover shirt and by the same token and fuck they like, but without them putting this into writing you’ll get nothing down the line. I’d take the title raise raise and do the role for a few months. If they don’t give you a monetary raise by a couple months or if they low ball you, use your new title as leverage at other companies. Go along with this change for now. They want to see if you can fill this role. If you show that you can step up, then money will come. Just play ball for now, but don’t look like a sucker when you talk with HR. Be enthusiastic with taking on more responsibility, but also make it be know that you expect a pay increase for the higher responsibilities. Try to get them to agree to some kind of timeline as to when your skills and pay can be reevaluated. Don’t come off sounding douchey, but also don’t come off sounding naive. Yeah – that’s called ‘all of the work, none of the pay’ situation. You need to be firm and state you are not happy to not receive a change in title and pay rise immediately.

Get a defined probationary period. At the Santa Sleigh Reindeer Koala Bears Moon Xmas Gnomes Lover shirt and by the same token and end of that time you stay in the position with a raise or you return to your previous duties without penalty. Reminds me of my old work place at the casino. They got rid of directors and hired managers I guess to cut cost. Some of the directors looked over three or four departments. It was frustrating to my IT manager to try to explain why we needed parts or being asked to program an app for the finance director. Don’t do a job you are not being paid for. I’ve been through this. If they create a dynamic where you’re doing a job and feeling like you need to take less to prove yourself, you will always be making less and trying to prove yourself. If they want to hire you for the job, it’s on them to hire you for the job. Well you can also suggest u take a 10% now and later 10% (written) or u take nothing now but later 30% (written)
