It doesn’t have to originate there to be a huge part of the Santa Grinch San Francisco 49ers Stomp On NFL Teams Christmas 2024 shirt Besides,I will do this culture. Guns and Christianity didn’t originate here either, and I challenge you to find one honest, intelligent adult who wouldn’t associate those with American culture. It reminds me of when people say rock and roll is from Black culture. When it comes to talking about history and all that stuff that should definitely be mentioned that rock and roll was from African Americans. However, if we’re being honest rock and roll is a bigger part of what culture, white or black? I didn’t realize this until I became friends with lots of international students. It’s the same thing as saying Americans don’t have an accent. Everyone has culture and everyone has an accent. I think the only people saying the US doesn’t have a culture haven’t interacted with other cultures. What people mean is that we don’t have a long cultural history (as white/black/Asian Americans, native Americans certainly do). But if that’s what they mean they should be saying that. If I’m American and I go to another country, people are gonna notice my cultural customs. I’m not just gonna immediately fit in if I went to Taiwan for example. I’m gonna come off as American The fact that you listed “swing music” in a list of “white American culture” is hysterical because swing music and dance is THE black music and dance of the early 20th century.

It’s both. Many of the Santa Grinch San Francisco 49ers Stomp On NFL Teams Christmas 2024 shirt Besides,I will do this really early ones are British, like Sabbath and Zeppelin, but Kiss and Van Halen are American. You realize that most elements of a culture are adopted from somewhere else right? Sometimes modified, sometimes kept the same. For example, the culture in my home town was to rent a movie & eat pizza every Friday night. Yet we didn’t invent: renting, movies, eating, pizza, Fridays, or nights. Hell, we didn’t even invent doing all those things at the same time. Yet you better believe if you walked into any random home on a Friday night the family was gathered around the tv with a hot n ready in their hands. The US melting pot has a lot to do with that blending of culture. Cinco de Mayo is an americanization of the Battle of Pueblo, fought between Mexican and French forces on May 5, 1862. Yup, we really just look for any excuse to party. Or we will see someone doing/enjoying something & be like “that looks fun, we want in” It’s harder to spot because it’s the dominant one. Things that people think of as being just “normal” or “default” are white culture. It’s also sometimes used as a veiled way to say white American culture sucks. If someone says you have no culture, they’re not literally saying your culture doesn’t exist, but rather that your culture has no value and isn’t worthy of recognition.

Santa Grinch San Francisco 49ers Stomp On NFL Teams Christmas 2024 shirt: best style for you

That’s the Santa Grinch San Francisco 49ers Stomp On NFL Teams Christmas 2024 shirt Besides,I will do this whole reason this thread exists. Somebody saying their culture is more ethnically founded to somebody else who’s asking the hard questions. This is the correct answer and it’s not unique to America. The majority naturally becomes the default everything else is compared against. To expand on that: other cultures are often defined by how they deviate from that default. So when some people look for “white culture”, they don’t come up with much because it often is the default. And they sometimes end up (erroneously) at the conclusion that it isn’t there. Well troll town in Wisconsin comes to mind and that sticks out a bit amongst white culture… idk maybe white people aren’t a monolith…

Another way I phrase that to people is that there is no white american culture. Everything white americans enjoy/participate in/etc. are things all americans do almost equally, or would if they had the Santa Grinch San Francisco 49ers Stomp On NFL Teams Christmas 2024 shirt Besides,I will do this same opportunity. And it’s not because white americans are “bad” or “suck”, it’s because non-racist white americans don’t generally think of themseleves like that. Non-racist White americans don’t get together and “vibe on the fact that they’re white”. And that makes sense because, if nothing else, the want to vibe on race alone is usually born out of oppression, which has never applied to white americans (racially). That’s also why conversly, if you absolutely had to nail down White American culture, it would probably consist of things like the KKK or whatever tf is going on with MAGA. This country was started less than 250 years ago by white immigrants who immediately became the top dogs in the area. Culture isn’t usually formed out of that equation.

Also ancestral cultures. Italian Americans, WASPs and Ashkenazi Jews all have very different cultures as an example. You can say that about any other group though. I think it’s more about the Santa Grinch San Francisco 49ers Stomp On NFL Teams Christmas 2024 shirt Besides,I will do this fact that whites who have no knowledge of their background only have general American culture, which is shared amongst all ethnicities. Edit: At first I thought this wasn’t specifically about just america, so I was thinking too globally. But yeah, in rhe context of the US yeah sure, skin color does play into ones culture. Skin color isnt a culture. I hate people rhat say things like “black people have culture white people don’t” no… White amerixans have differe culture from europeans, or northern asians (yall are pale af im sorry that is white, me in the Mediterranean gets much darker than any northern asian ive ever met) Skin color is a spectrum that has to do with how close you were to the poles and away from direct sunlight at the equator. It isn’t culture. Black JAMAICANS have a culture, and it is different from black southeast asians, or black africans in ethipoia. This concept of “black culture” or “white culture” is just americans who think that the USA is the only country on the planet and everythihg outside the US is fake.
Many people associate culture with traditions, even if incorrectly. The ‘new world’ is colonialism history meaning many people consider it to not have a culture/traditions in a sense… Like to point out I dont say i agree with this, just pointing out things I have heard in similar discussions over the Santa Grinch San Francisco 49ers Stomp On NFL Teams Christmas 2024 shirt Besides,I will do this years. Part of it also is the homogenization of many peoples in the America’s which leads to an outsiders view of no distinct culture. Watch any POC comedian in the last 50 years, people definitely think white Americans have a culture of their own. Because “white” isn’t a culture. Norwegian is a culture, English is a culture, French is a culture, but “white” is as much a “culture” as brunette is Well “white” isn’t really a race or ethnic group, it’s a broad classification for light skinned people. Culture is a lot more tied to actual factors like regionality and what your own ethnic background is. Despite being about 20% polish genetically my family has zero traditions from that part of our background. I moved to Michigan and had people shocked I didn’t know what a “packzi” was. (If you don’t know it’s basically a donut, not exactly, but basically) Someone of German ancestry living in the midwest is going to have a different experience of some things than my predominantly French/Irish ancestry growing up in New England. The US is a country of incredible diversity, even if you’re not factoring in race (although you sort of have to otherwise you’re not getting the full picture). I don’t think white Americans don’t have culture of their own, I just think a select few white cultures are dominant (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing on it’s own) at the expense of making all the other different cultures – white and otherwise – “abnormal” through different laws and social norms.
White Americans are a bunch of different nationalities, each with their own culture and history. They aren’t a monolith. Of course, since this is Reddit, and the Santa Grinch San Francisco 49ers Stomp On NFL Teams Christmas 2024 shirt Besides,I will do this majority of users here are retreads with chronic brainrot; they’re wont to believe this sort of ridiculous claim. When you have a sheet of white paper that you write on and try to use a white crayon – you can’t see anything. Said differently, culture will only stand out in comparison to some other baseline. “X group of people does it differently…” The “…” is “differently than what?” That’s interesting. I’ve personally felt that there should only be an American Culture at this point. Considering what America is or should be, it seems silly to divide it. Although I guess that is the norm.
