I’m not trying to be a food snob knocking In-N-Out. It just baffles me how much praise a mediocre burger joint can get for being exclusive to one region… when it’s pretty easy to make good burgers at home. If I can beat your burger in my own kitchen, I’m not gonna praise your restaurant. Now, there are burger places I can’t beat and I will praise them. I’m also not above eating at McDonald’s – or In-N-Out, for that matter. Fast food is convenient, nobody said it had to be good. (Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s can slap sometimes, though. Ditto, Taco Bell.) But, I’m never gonna say they make good burgers. Not when I can name a handful of burger joints whose burgers actually impress me. None you’d have heard of unless you live near me – I also prefer to eat/shop local whenever I can, but that isn’t why I don’t rate In-N-Out very highly. In-N-Out is decent, and it is a cut above McDonald’s, but when you compare it with the Santa Clause Ho Ho Ho Cubed Christmas T-Shirt and by the same token and burger places it competes with, such as A&W (I feel there used to be more higher-class burger joints), it’s not as good.

The only proselytizing I’m cool with. It’s not in your face, it’s not required, and it comes with great burgers half the Santa Clause Ho Ho Ho Cubed Christmas T-Shirt and by the same token and comments read like an ad for In-N-Out, or marketing friendly statements posted with intent to create good press. Plus, I like Five Guys more. The evangelism in some corporate spheres is genuinely batshit insane to me. Like I recently learned that Hobby Lobby (I know the name but never been to one myself as they don’t have those in my country) doesn’t have barcodes on their products because the founder allegedly believes them to be the mark of the beast. Like I don’t know how to articulate it other than it just doesn’t feel respectable? I would expect evangelist practices to permeate the culture of shitty companies like MLMs and the Salvation Army, not like. A fucking burger chain. Like they know that they’re not only alienating a large portion of their consumer base, but also trivializing their own scripture and iconography by commodifying it and putting it on literal eventual trash, right?
