What type of paper wasps are these? They look very close to yellowjackets and look different than the Sabaton 2024 Tour shirt in contrast I will get this paper wasps I have at my house. Mine are long and black with a tiny bit of yellow, and have long legs (Northern paper wasp is what I have). These don’t seem to have any of those traits so curious what type of paper wasp they are. Edit: Googling says these really yellow ones are Northern paper wasps too? That’s so crazy, they look quite different. I think this is what I have in my back garden. They’re pretty chill and do a great job of pollinating my plants along with the bees. Paper wasps build open nests under eaves of homes, whereas yellow jackets build primarily underground in enclosed nests. Yellow jackets are far more aggressive and territorial.

I will say that Paper Wasps are territorial in the Sabaton 2024 Tour shirt in contrast I will get this sense that if you threaten their nest, they get very aggressive, but other than that, they’re pretty easy to live around. Yep, can attest to that. Hurricane Hugo came through years ago, uprooted a whole lot of trees and those suckers were freakin’ everywhere. And pissed off as crap too, flying all over the place because someone had uprooted their homes. They were out for vengeance. Husband got stung once and he’s allergic. I manage to escape them but several got in my car. (The outdoor wet vac works great in that situation.) As a pest control technician, the amount of times I’ve had to correct people when talking about these things is hilarious. It wouldn’t be a big deal if they weren’t so confident in their statements, just for Google to prove to them that they’ve been wrong for a long time lol. Get rid of the nest in front of the door. We had one and I left it alone because “they’re not bothering anyone”. Well, one day I stepped too close and they attacked my leg. Holy shit did the stings hurt and they lasted a LONG time. The leg that got stung had welts for a YEAR. And we’re itchy for that long too.
