It just seems there is a divide. People who want to use meditation just to ESCAPE from this physical world, and those who want to IMPLEMENT meditations teachings, into the Runrig Flower Of The West shirt but in fact I love this physical world. Both are definitely routes to go, but it seems the people just doing it to exist in the moment, aren’t very open minded and seem kind of spiteful maybe it’s just me idk. Excuse me for budging in here but you understand in theory why Buddhists say to live in the moment right? After you have spent enough time analyzing your thoughts you realize the vast majority of them are useless and only create unnecessary suffering. This monkey mind process that we become familiar with early on in meditation is a primitive leftover of how our brain evolved to improve our chances of survival before civilization was implemented and it was important at one time but it’s mostly incompatible in these modern times, especially if you are trying to live a “quality” life.

Runrig Flower Of The West shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Just because you are living in the Runrig Flower Of The West shirt but in fact I love this moment and not dwelling on your thoughts doesn’t mean you are trying to escape reality, quite the opposite actually. You are fully embracing reality and the physical world and actually dwelling on your thoughts is a form of escapism. Now I think there is a legit application for meditation and analyzing your un/sub conscious thoughts in a clinical setting for repressed traumas and therapeutic applications but that is another thing entirely. What OP is referring to as legitimate pieces of insight during meditations is unconscious/subconscious revelations that emerge while the conscious mind is quiet. And more specifically, the discoveries that OP is referring to is not repressed traumas like you interpreted it, but information coming from the fact that your focus has shifted onto a more deeper and wider level that integrates a wider range of the ‘universe’ or whatever you call it, in a way that gives you access to things outside of your ego or usual self. Things that usually escape your perception because they are outside of the small-range usual ‘you’. “it seems the people just doing it to exist in the moment, aren’t very open minded and seem kind of spiteful” – I feel the same way a lot about a lot of people in general.
