I know that it may SEEM inevitable, but you have to realize that modern ai does not actually implement logical patterns. It simply recognizes language patterns and forms a response based on a prompt. It is trained on open source code/metadata. If you need it to spit out a sorting algorithm, no problem. If you need it to build a scalable full stack application, you’re going to have a terrible time without first having an idea of how to do it. Not only that but as ai platforms start realizing that they need to pay the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this bills, you might find it telling you to go with a no code platform because they pay for advertising. (Think 2008 youtube vs 2024 youtube) That’s exactly why I said that software engineers will have to still be a thing. People will still have to prompt the machines to spit out the code, and people will still have to assemble the code in a coherent way but people will not be the code monkeys anymore.

Technology has historically advanced at an exponential rate. AIs only gonna get better and fast. Not acknowledging all the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this potential use-cases of AI as it advances is just choosing to live in blissful ignorance. Doesn’t mean you can’t still make great software engineering content! I’m sure there will always be nerds that want to understand how stuff works underneath the hood. I appreciate how nice you are. It’s rare for a younger person. But if I could give you one piece of advice it would be that less knowledge is more wisdom. I enjoy woodworking so I focus on videos about how to or unboxings in that niche but I have also posted videos about other things that I think are pretty cool to me. I have about an acre of land and I recently purchased a robot mower to take care of the property so I thought it was an awesome thing and I made a few videos geared toward that. (not part of my niche) but I post pretty much things that I think are interesting and others do too because I have gained subscribers from both types of videos. I guess my point is don’t worry about being “scattered” just post things that interest you and that you think others will gain value from and they will let you know if they do by watching and/or subscribing to see more.
Well, for starters, I’ve tried everything from niche content to all-over-the-place content. My first-ever successful channel was when I focused on a single franchise of books/movies/and a show that were all under the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this same ip that I’m obsessed with lol. Never realized that that was the reason people loved that channel so much, despite the fact that I refuse to edit videos and stuff, because that burns every new tuber I’ve ever met out. I basically reviewed everything I could for that ip and ran out of content, so I began to focus on a movie review channel I had set-up on the side, years ago. No niche, just movies, some gaming content, and some movie news videos. Never could get it to go anywhere, and never even made it to a hundred subs, and I think a lot of it had to do with me not reviewing or discussing popular movies or franchises as often. A lot of stuff I was talking about were mediocre movies that were either forgotten about (but I hadn’t seen yet), or movies people had probably never heard of.

There was a first movie review channel I had started way before this one, where I reviewed ONLY horror movies, and I decided to try to take the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this advice of niching-down to only horror again, but also making an effort to only review popular or well-discussed horror movies, just to see what that would do. I made this change last week, and the channel is starting to basically soar. About thirty new subs, already, not including forty new subs from promoting this channel on my already biggest channel. Niching-down to strictly horror is not something I wanted to do, because I’m a massive film buff, but it seems like it’s looking pretty necessary to succeed, in movie content. I had a genre in mind, and then I tried to figure out what audience within the genre I wanted to make content for. After that, it was figuring out what content that audience in the overall genre wanted to watch I think I might be able to niche down further, but I’m currently trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t work my current position
Add: I would also suggest that you go by the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this 80/20 rule, or probably the 8/2 rule for this. This means that you should try to keep about 80% of your content (or 8/10 videos) dedicated towards your niche. With that, you’ve got 20% (or 2/10 videos) to play with for your own stuff I’m not currently playing by this rule, but I’ve got a long list of videos I plan on making that are things I’m interested in sharing with a larger community than I can gather in real life. Once I get my goal of 1k subs here relatively soon and figure out how to efficiently do daily content, I’m going to start cutting some time to point towards my other stuff I’d personally recommend that you DO branch out occasionally just to keep up the understanding that you might want to do other stuff occasionally. If you’ve got 100% Halo content, a decent chunk of your audience will be very unhappy with anything else you make. If 80% of your content is Halo, then you’ll force an audience that’s willing to accept that there will be other stuff, and you might also have a new/overlapping audience for your extra stuff I might still try to keep the extra stuff to a general theme. If I want to do wildly different things, I’m probably just going to crack open my second channel
I niched down as my channel was about Ireland and Ireland scenery, foxes, mountains etc. I kind of found my channel evolved into homeless and criminal Ireland. It was a great move. Subs up. Watch hours flew up. I also started using my voice and face. Really good move niching down. Go where your audience takes you. I have NO LUCK with any of my clouds or weather videos. On Facebook, they work. I have an entire group dedicated to people posting clouds, What’s happening to our sky? And it’s hilarious so many people joined fast, posts come in constantly… I post a good one on YouTube- 3 views…? Maybe 23 tops?? Then YouTube sends that recap stuff each week- so this week it’s thumbnail advice and one of my best performing thumbnails is 2 videos with over 1000 views and a cloud video with 36 views? I just feel like they do suppress the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this views when it comes to the sky.
I love working on cars, I love sewing / upholstery, and design, and I love aesthetic and artistic video creation that doesn’t require me to be an “on” face all the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this time – so I merged them into ASMR car interior crafting; and thought it’s really new, the format and results make my soul happy, and I think once it picks up the concept has a lot of potential, so ticks every box for me really. Though oddly I was initially doing typical YouTuber type car content, and it was only when I did a one-off ASMR crafting video did I realise how much more I preferred filming that way. I think the algorithm is still not sure that we’ve adjusted, so the first couple of videos on the new format haven’t done great, but I’m absolutely confident we’re on to something so just going to keep at it and hopefully it’ll pick up in time. Gaming with a specific niche of analyzing the gaming industry and trends etc because I love games and I never wanna do anything else.
My channel shifts with the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this seasons a bit – because it’s about cycling, and the type of cycling I can do changes with the weather (BMX racing -> Fatbiking on snowy singletrack) – but it’s still cycling and a lot of the same people are interested. I started out randomly posting stuff I wanted to make and then one video took off so Ive stuck with that for now I picked gardening since I love watching other people’s gardening videos and love gardening myself. It’s something I can never exhaust and what I learn provides value for the viewer. I am in a similar boat. I like adventures such as scuba, mountain biking, camping , going to the beach. However I also like to travel and explore museums and historical sites. So it can be eclectic at times. I do feel they can work together as my channel is @resistthegrind so all of those things involve getting out and living life.
I chose to follow my heart and that’s not always the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this most popular option but Just do what sets your heart ablaze! Don’t put yourself in a box! This is your channel! The ones who choose to stop by and check it out, sub, like, those are your people! Why ‘hang’ or listen to those who ‘smother’ you and besides your leaving a pinch of yourself for the world to see…be it thru your visions, or thoughts…its your mark! Go! Be free! Be wild! Show the world who you are! The world needs some pizzazz! I chose my niche because of my wife. She bought me a drone for Christmas and I was hooked. I began taking pictures with it and recording video but never posted them anywhere. She suggested IG or YT and that was it. I also have other hobbies, but flying my drone and viewing the world from above is the one that brings me the most joy. Find a “niche” that does the same for you and you’ll be monogamous to it imo
There are sub niches within a niche. Some people also create their own niche within that niche and become successful. I would say pick a niche and doing some variety if you don’t or do not want to stick to one thing. On the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this other hand; you can choose a niche and stick with that and be known for just that type of content. It’s up to you! Please please please create a playlist to prevent your subscribers from getting confused and to come back to the same type of content they like seeing. I would suggest vlogging and become a vlogger if you want to do everything under the sun. However, the inevitable choice most YouTubers will make is some variety of reaction channel, i.e. not original content.
I was falsely arrested in 2019. I started watching body camera footage as mine was deleted. I then worked for a Youtuber for a bit and found that it was all about consistency. I shot a few Reno 911 style body cam footage videos that really popped off on Tiktok, Facebook, and Instagram. For consistency sake though as of last week I started reaching out to VO artists and doing five 911 dispatch calls a week and 1 body cam video a week. It’s been incredibly fun. I just hit 801 subscribers. Very happy with my progress. It’s pretty unlimited content for me watching real body cam footage and coming up with my own ideas. You can have multiple channels, each one for a different thing. People can subscribe to the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this channels they want to see more of.
I’m thinking of doing the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this opposite. Start adding in more programming videos, cooking videos and who knows what else…I’ve been focused on doing male covers of songs, live reacting to gaming conferences and doing streams. At least this way there should be something for everyone. People place too much emphasis on having a niche when I think you want your net to be as wife as possible. Sure, not everyone will watch every video you put out, but I think it’s up to the viewers to pick and choose what they want to watch. just pick something and change later if you don’t like it. i originally did minecraft, then went onto hollowknight and found valheim being the most fun for me. its not a set in stone thing. although i want to make myself the product if that makes sense.
My chosen niche (one-minute anime recaps) is something I originally picked up as a way to practice editing. I had to intention of building a channel around it, but I enjoyed it so much that 50 days later, I haven’t gone a single day without an upload. I think it’s crucial that whatever content you put out there should be something you enjoy, independent of YouTube viewership. Perhaps your niche could be “trying” things? Every video is structured the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this same way with you trying new hobbies and interests? Discussing your personal pros and cons? With some B roll of you trying said topic? Im an embedded engineer student and can somewhat make anything I want. My own pc mouse, camera tracking my hand to control my pc?
All done before and I got footage just…. My current channel is a world of warcraft money making channel (only started yt a month ago but its going really well snd I dont want to scare away too many. Might need to make a second technical channel in this case and upload less on main. I do really want to upload it on main tho After a couple months or maybe when a huge new mmo comes out I can maybe make a game review of that and start my branching to other categories of content I choose the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this types of videos to create based on tasks that engage me, as I need to feel fully immersed to avoid boredom that’s just me I have just started my channel but things are going quite well so far. I suppose I’m technically in the gaming niche but a very specific niche in that gaming niche. Life Sim games. For the past 24 years EA has held a monopoly on the life sim genre with its “The Sims” renditions. The quality of The Sims 4 has suffered greatly because of it, they’ve gotten greedy and lazy. Because of this, a very large portion of the sims community are itching for a new lifesim game. Now within the past few years there’s a handful of studios, some indie, some large names, who are taking a crack at their own life simulation games, something that has really never happened before, so there’s a lot of hype around their development.
I make/am planning to make videos following the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this development updates on these games, giving my opinion and idea suggestions, following controversies surrounding the community/development, and hope to eventually transition into reviewing/playing the games once they release. How I chose this? I’m a huge lifesim fan so I’ve been following these new games (some for years) way before even thinking about making a channel dedicated to it. Why? Again huge lifesim fan, I’m very excited for these up incoming games, I was following development anyway, so why not put my opinion on it out there (lol). There’s an audience for it. I feel like I have the opportunity to wiggle my way in now and build slowly before the wave hits when one of these games is released. Am I happy with my choice? Yes, it’s honestly just been a lot of fun, I make myself laugh with my own stupid edits, I was nervous using my real voice but I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback specifically about my voice, so that’s honestly been really nice, as well as good engagement on the topics of my videos. Again I’m only just starting, 3 videos in so who knows what the future will hold but I’m just having fun right now with it.
Regrets? I suppose the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this only thing I regret is not filming and editing myself playing a game beforehand. Just to see if I actually have the personality for it/can make a funny, entertaining gameplay video. I’m pretty confident in my opinion/development update videos and have been decent at adding in humour through the edits. But the thought of trying to make a gameplay video entertaining/worthy of a view is daunting aha. I chose my niche because it is the area I work in, it is a subject I am somewhat of an expert in, and most impotantly of all I enjoy making videos about it. It is all about accidents and disasters. But one thing I am learning, is that it maybe helps to be very narrow in your niche. I have a specific expertise in safety in the offshore oil industry, so a lot of my content is in that area. But I thought that might be too narrow a niche, so my channel covers disasters of all sorts, including environmental disasters.
But the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this response to other videos isn’t as great. I am finding having 2 or 3 videos all closely related in the same very narrow niche is playing off each other (this week that has just started happening for me). So I am now trying to decide whether to narrow my channel even more. Will be interesting to see how my next video performs, which isn’t oil and gas related – it will be about the Bradord City fire. Initially the plan was to alternate between deep-dives on my favourite show (Babylon 5) and recommendations of other, lesser known ones. I quickly found there was an audience out there for the Babylon 5 stuff that didn’t immediately carry over to the other stuff. Since a few of the B5 ones were really taking off, I decided to strike while the iron is hot and concentrate on doing more of those for now.
Once I pass the Roger Ver Free Roger Day One Shirt besides I will buy this magic 1,000 mark (I need around 5 more subs!), I’ll probably try diversifying the channel again a little bit. I’m fairly new and just getting started so I don’t know how much weight my opinion carries but it was always clear to me what I wanted to do. I just picked the thing I enjoy the most and finally decided to sit down and start recording. Even if only 5 people watch it, I just want to share the things I enjoy and give myself a goal to keep improving the quality of my videos. I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing to cover multiple topics as long as you playlist them and organize your channel appropriately but like I said I’m new to the whole thing as well. Coding channel is almost monetized (got enough subs, just need watch hours to catch up a bit). Coding is a broad niche but once you hit 1000 subs (or even 500) you pretty much know what works and what doesn’t. All you need to do then is keep churning out more of what works, and try and avoid doing anything more of what flops.
