The main problem with internet atheism is the Rickey Henderson in Oakland Athletics T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this focus on the USA. Evangelcalism and other groups that take the Bible literally are much more dominant there and internet atheism does the same. The theological depth and nuances are completely ignored be both sides. What about atheist arguments changes with any of that? We don’t believe that gods or magic exist. Full stop. Theology and nuance don’t come into it. It’s the same energy as: if humans evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys? Evolution is complex and modern monkeys and modern humans share a common ancestor etc. Nuances are always important. It’s the same with theology. For example the flood. It is clearly inspired by Babylonian myth and the flood tale in the Bible is a mixture of two flood tales, the authors pointed that out by varying the number of days the flood lasts and the number of animals that go on the arc, that is voluntary. The main difference between the Babylonian god’s and the biblical god is that the Babylonians wanted to kill humans because they were to noisy and that plan was discovered and someone made an arc to save the humans. The god in the Bible wanted to save the god humans while killing the sinful humans, so he ordered them to build the arc. For us the flood sounds cruel, but for someone back then who knew the original myth it was a tale of a compassionate and just god. There are many reasons not to belief in god(s), but many atheists don’t use god arguments because they were never confronted with a more nuanced viewpoint than”Bible=true you=wrong=Satanist”

Rickey Henderson in Oakland Athletics T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

In the Rickey Henderson in Oakland Athletics T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this old testament there are several examples of genocide, be it the Canaanites or the Amalekites who god ordered their entire bloodline to be killed. Or those in Noahs day, what of the children, and not to mention most people weren’t even the problem, god killed them because they were simply living their lives and enjoying it, they committed no sin. Not to mention gods targeting of the innocent Egyptian firstborns, while the Pharoh sinned by killing the Hebrew children the idea that god would return that upon the Egyptian children and not solely those responsible was reprehensible. Job was forced to lose everything just for god to prove a point. And god sent bears to kill children for mocking his prophet, and I’m not even covering most of it. God treats his people like tools in the old testament and punishes them with death and suffering if they choose to disobey, none of it is compulsory, and none of it shows evidence of a loving god.
