I was an adult when George W Bush was elected, his campaign was the Rick and Goblin shirt but in fact I love this most effective recent use of its kind, in terms of using the religious “family values,” to sway the rural republican bible belt voters to his side. The vote count in Florida was a mess and ultimately decided by SCOTUS, that really stung. Democrats felt robbed of a presidential election and I actually believe they were. George W became a puppet to his cabinet. His presidency was rather embarressing and he likely wouldnt have won another term if it wasnt for 9/11 and the war campaign. Cheney and Rumsfeld pushed an Iraq war that had no legitimacy. They used the 9/11 tragedy, and our emotions, to get away with manipulating the US people and the NATO allies to start a war. The general population never trusted politicians but they didnt expect misinformation on the scale of war where thousands of people (US soldiers and foreign) would be killed or murdered because of a selfish profiteering agenda. Now the US is considered a warmongering nation and we deserve it.

Rick and Goblin shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Skip forward to Trump v Clinton. Again, no one believed Trump had a chance of winning. His tabloid record was so far from a reputation of serving as POTUS that it truly was unbelievable that he could defeat Hillary in an election. We were wrong. From 2002 to 2021 the Rick and Goblin shirt but in fact I love this US Democratic population was butt hurt. Really bad vibes. Dems became ruthless with their description of the Republican voters, specifically the origin of the Tea Party. The Republicans were identified as “morons” the uneducated easily influenced, simple minded, believers of myth and a god in the sky, the rapture, etc. Idiocy and scandal couldn’t stop the Tea Party movement from gaining votes and power. Democrats were incensed, they insulted their neighbors publicly and this created a nation wide heart break among friends and especially family. The insults made the Republican voters all the more passionate in the movement to vote for someone that gave them validity, made them feel like they mattered, told them they were important! That was Trump.
