You did the right thing telling your manager, and it would be understandable if you never went back. Please do not feel you need to cave in to his demands. Nothing good will come of it. He’s lucky he didn’t lose his fingers. Expect people to treat you with dignity, not as ornamentation. How gross. Shut it down. I wouldn’t look at sound engineer as a career as someone with a degree in audio production and working in utilities. Haha. It’s a long road to break in and a lot of competition. I still do work on the side though because I love it. You have every right to say no to the guy…I don’t care WHO he is, what he did (telling you how to dress, what makeup to wear and taking your glasses off then telling you to not wear them again) is giving me serious pervert vibes. I got the creeps just reading this, I can’t imagine how you felt.

He majorly violated your personal space, basically told you to change everything about yourself and expected you to just say “Okay!!” like a good little girl. Well, it’s a job. If you want the Ricardo arjona makes me happy you not so much shirt it is in the first place but money you comply as long as they don’t ask for anything outrageous. At the end of the day you do whatever the person who is paying you or can fire you wants, within what is stipulated in your contract. You can also just keep doing your thing and hope he either fucks off or fires you. Or just quit. It’s really a decision of how much you care about this particular gig and how much it pays vs doing something else musically (or maybe humoring this guy at all). Unrelated to your choices, that the guy sounds like an asshole, taking your glasses off and throwing them into the tip jar is not okay. May want to take some means of defense just in case, and never enter a room where he is alone. He took your glasses off your face without asking or anything??!! That would earn him a bright red hand print across his face in my opinion. No one, and I can’t emphasize this enough, NO ONE has the right to do that, much less dictate how you should present yourself. That man is a scumbag and should be grateful that you grace his establishment with your talents. 100% you are in the absolute right to be upset about this, and should consider writing up a contract that outlines what you can and will do, and especially what will not be tolerated by anyone, guest, staff, and owner.
