Life is nasty like that.. This has been a massive game changer in my happiness. I was no longer working for some weird goal that may not be there. Enjoy it now, and enjoy it later too. Honestly I’m not afraid to work a little as I get older to make ends meet. Life isn’t some competition to gain as much money as possible, then hoarde it like a retirement dragon. For me at least

Similar thing happened to my stepdad. He was a successful businessman and worked hard and did well for himself. This was 5 years ago and he still needs 24/7 assistance and will never be able to do anything on his own again. Similar story, my Dad just had a stroke after nearly making it 2 more years to retirement. Worked his entire life to provide for us, was as fit as you could be for 67. Just sucks that this is how we’re forced to live. Would have loved to have been able to do more things together growing up but 8 hours a day 5 days a week and then some just fucks family time. Going through the struggle now as an adult. Only just got a decent raise but will still probably never be able to afford a house or retire. Fuck is even the point of working; at this point I think most of us are day dreaming about how tf to get out of working till we die or are too old to enjoy it.
