Honestly, downplaying how you feel is probably more harmful than helpful. Big emotions are real, and we need to feel them. Mindfulness can be a good tool, and therapy can likely help you use that tool and others. It’s okay to need help. It’s awesome to get help. I faced incredible hardship. I was poor my entire life. My dad wasn’t in my life and my mom was a narcissist. You can overcome anything, just don’t give up. First, start thinking positively and don’t give your energy to any negative thoughts. Your thoughts plus the energy you put behind them create your reality. Remember this phrase: “I think; therefore, I am” and use it your advantage. Next, meditate but in a very specific way. Notice your thoughts and then find out “to whom do these thoughts appear?”. This is known as self-enquiry meditation and will help you.
