I am currently at my Grandparents and they just leave cooked chicken on a plate out overnight ok the counter and serve it for dinner and lunch the next day, at dinner I barely eat and everyone wonders why lol I de-thaw my chicken overnight in the fridge but if its still frozen the next day a bit ill leave it on the counter for like 30 mins to help thaw the rest before cooking it so the pieces aren’t all stuck together. The chicken stays cold enough to keep bacteria growth down “dethaw” is a word (according to dictionary.com). It means to become soft or liquid. It’s a synonym to the word “thaw”. I would suggest leaving it in a tub of cold water (while inside a ziplock bag of sorts) rather than leaving it out on the counter

The only approved methods of defrosting are microwave, fridge, or running cold water continuously through a container. My whole family for generations has defrosted chicken on the counter. I had no idea it was so dangerous. But after reading your comment it makes perfect sense. My wife treats chicken like a biohazard when we bring it in the house, but we saw it out on the countertop.
