It’s only weird if you make it weird. I think if the Proud to be Cherokee shirt so you should to go to store and get this conversations are normal then it’s normal. It’s basically him trying to be friends with his SO’s friends. From my (61F) perspective, it isn’t weird at all and, tbh, I’m a bit perplexed (not meant in a perjorative way at all) as to why his texts — that both you & your husband deem to be innocent — unnerve you. Maybe it is because I am incredibly comfortable with (and grateful for) the purely platonic relationships I have with people of all ages & genders. He may, like his fiancé, value the insight of an (only slightly, from my perspective, lol) older woman in his field. In any event, FWIW, my take is to assume it is lovely and innocent until it isn’t. Everyone is being above board here. Put another way: If you were neighbors & he occasionally stopped by to innocently chat while you were outside, would you think anything was inappropriate? I think it is age. I’m 36. We don’t really come from a time where everyone texts everyone, friends or not. We were the first generation that texted anyways. My step daughter is 22. They text with all of their friends partners. They make friends solely through text even never meeting them.

No offense, OP, but I find it a bit sad that simple friendliness is deemed suspect. It doesn’t sound weird at all to me, just that he considers you a friend by proxy because you’re so close to his fiancée. I think you’re overthinking this. Maybe there’s nothing to it. Maybe he looks at you like a mentor as well or want you to be his mentor. You can move easy. You’re in complete control if it goes left then you know what to do.
